As a guy from Chicago and its terrible gun problem; I would welcome a walk in Nassau and the far lesser chance of getting killed….or worse.

Smokeybandit is correct -- this is only a Level 2 warning. (Several news sites are incorrectly saying the new alert raises The Bahamas to a Level 3.)
I believe The Bahamas have been Level 2 for a while actually. So while the new alert is used to bring attention to the current concerns, it's not a signal that the situation is drastically changed. (I will caveat this with saying I'm not at work today and can't verify the historical status.)

It's only a level 2 advisory, "exercise increased caution," which really should be how you act in any foreign country (no matter the safety level of that country).

The majority of crime occurs on New Providence (Nassau) and Grand Bahama (Freeport) islands. In Nassau, practice increased vigilance in the “Over the Hill” area (south of Shirley Street) where gang-on-gang violence has resulted in a high homicide rate primarily affecting the local population. Violent crime, such as burglaries, armed robberies, and sexual assaults, occur in both tourist and non-tourist areas.

You could give the same warning to many US cities.  "Stay out of the bad parts, be smart in the good parts"

Jamaica has always had warnings. Went there on our honeymoon many years ago and noticed the soldiers patrolling outside the resort. Talking to the resort driver about it he  basically said it's know not to mess with the tourists because if you do and the soldiers get you the rest of your life won't be pleasant. As long as you stay to the tourist areas it should fine

It's Jamaica, statistically one of the most dangerous countries to visit on a Caribbean cruise. Yet rarely are there issues for tourists who don't stray into places they shouldn't

We always like to tip extra, even though with drink package it’s included. Especially for great service. We know the crew are far from home for long periods of time and so appreciate them for making our vacations special.

It was on Enchantment of the Seas.  Several (many?) other people on deck 4 where we were had the same issue.  Some of them were having legit tantrums at customer service on board but I kept my cool...sadly I am sure the people that freaked out got taken better care of than I did.

The OBC is much better for me since we did already have another cruise booked for April.  The FCC expires in a year and I didn't plan on booking another cruise before then - it's essentially forcing us to book a cruise with them when I had other vacation plans.

TempoGL reacted to BrianB in question on gratuities if you don't go to MDR at all
    Good question.
I do the same thing. I love the specialty dining and the CK and very rarely, if at all, eat in the MDR. I tip the servers who serve me individually with cash…usually after each meal. I don’t know how the auto gratuities are distributed and I don’t think anyone here can really say with much accuracy how it’s done, so I just think of it as part of my cruise fare. But it’s pretty much common knowledge that the auto gratuities are shared among lots of other crew members beside the restaurant servers…including those behind the scenes. I’m one of those who feel I wouldn’t want to take any benefit away from the crew so I don’t mind if I happen to be double tipping, as it were.
    Just my opinion.

Yes, an official copy from the state is acceptable.  Photocopies or certificates issued by hospitals are not.

Sounds like it's an official certified copy. If she could use it to apply for a Passport then it's acceptable for use to board the cruise.

You have to find your own table.  When you’re with multiple people, it’s best to find a table and have 1 person wait there while the rest go get their food.  They do have people coming around getting you drinks, but it’s much quicker and easier to get it yourself.
Just an FYI, the food at windjammer isn’t that great.  On sea days, you can have a much better breakfast or lunch in the main dining room.  Also, every day the Park Cafe has good options for breakfast and lunch as well.

In April we drove down from NH, and stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel & Conference Center on O'Donnell St.  Paid for the pkg that had parking and port transfer. They covered all 12 nights.  Nothing fancy, its a bit dated, but we were only sleeping there one night.  The hotel is fairly close to port, we could see the ship from our room.  I also believe they is another BW with park and sail on the west side of town if that is where you are coming from. From the accounts I have read, that one is a little less dated.

I don't know if it's the same fleet-wide, but on all of the half-dozen or so Royal Caribbean ships I've sailed on over the years they do not use the same iced tea in the main dining room as that horrible swill they have up in the Windjammer machines.  It is not excellent, but it does appear to be brewed there in the kitchen, and is much superior to the crappy stuff upstairs.  Mind you, I get it unsweetened and add Sweet and Low, if you asked for it sweet with sugar I don't know if they would brew it properly with the sugar added while still hot, but it is certainly worth a try.

My brother is an iced tea connoisseur lol, he said the iced tea on the ship was the worst he ever had and stuck to the lemonades. He was very disappointed because the lemonade was so good. I think iced tea should only ever be brewed fresh.

I've had the iced tea a few times on Symphony and Oasis.  I think in the Park Cafe, MDR or WJ.  All were undrinkable.  It can't be the water because the coffee and tap water taste fine.  To me.  The Long Island Iced Teas at the Lime and Coconut taste great.

I actually thought the brewed coffee was excellent.  It didn't quite make up for the terrible iced tea though, since I can't exactly drink coffee all day without becoming a jittery mess
