  1. Noticed a strange thing on the fall 2023 Allure sailings listed on Royal’s website. All the way through October 15, 2023, Allure has 7 night Sunday sailings out of Galveston, as expected. There is only 1 more Allure sailing listed after that - a 6 night cruise beginning Sunday, October 22 - arriving back Saturday . Could this indicate Allure may rotate out of Galveston after the 6 night cruise, leave the pier open for a replacement ship to arrive and begin Sunday 7 day itineraries from Galveston?. It’s a possibility. Allure was to be amplified before CoVid struck. NCL Prima and new Carnival Jubilee will be porting from Galveston in 2023. Perhaps Royal will be replacing Allure in fall 2023 with an Oasis class with slides, to be competitive with NCL and Carnival? Just a thought. Any other ideas, chime in
  2. Thanks, I can’t wait! Trying Ben &Jerry’s Sweet ( 1st time for a Promenade view room).
  3. Agree!. It took me awhile to realize this…
  4. There was a thread several months about vaccinated venues vs unvaccinated. At the time I was critical of Royal, thinking unvaccinated would not have the same cruise experience (thinking of the families with kids). Well, after reading a Liberty Cruise Compass (on this site from a recent sailing), I feel my initial reaction was totally WRONG. My apologies for my negative comments, Liberty will be my next cruise, and I was pleasantly surprised to see in the activities and entertainment, how Royal has provided activities for ALL passengers*. Kudos to Royal for doing the best they could (within CDC control). I am really looking forward to my upcoming cruises. *(Can’t speak to AO, just the entertainment outside of AO, listed on Liberty Compass) @Matt, thanks to you for keeping the cruise conversations fresh with all the blog posts. We can count on you breaking RCG news here, before other sites. You are so appreciated.
  5. This is sad to hear. Your son must have been so disappointed. The protocols allow families with unvaccinated youths to disembark with a Royal Shore Excursion. Are you saying they stopped you from taking him on a shore excursion at the gangway? Even though they sold you the shore excursions?
  6. @Matt’s news blog about Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, for items with percentages varying by ship, mentions see “the spreadsheet.“ Does anyone have access to the spreadsheet(s), and will post them for us? TIA
  7. You are right. I assumed it was a family member from same household - but I should not have made any assumptions. It’s likely I was totally wrong.
  8. Besides the test results, you need to consider the health assessment you fill out in the RoYal APP. I believe one question is if you’ve been in close contact to someone CoVid-positive ( in the last 14 days, not sure ?)
  9. Suggest you turn it in to Guest Services. They would know who was in the stateroom last. And if the person gets home and contacts Royal about a missing item, it would facilitate reuniting with the owner, if you turn it in,
  10. Matt’s article that Twangster posted is a great resource for families with kids. Is your cruise over Thanksgiving or Christmas school holidays, when more kids are expected onboard?
  11. Waiting on Grandeur to be added to the App. Barbados sailings are coming up.
  12. That sounds like a problem. If it persists, call Royal. Oh - Did you book directly with Royal (on Website)? If you booked with a TA you won’t be able to pay online, nor see details in the Planner.
  13. On CC, 2 different posters reported their February and March cruises had changed the due date in the cruise Planner to 30 days before departure. They had not received emails announcing it. Not so for my February cruise - currently showing November due date in Planner. @Matt , could you check with Royal to see if there has been a formal extension to March across all ships? Or are the posts I saw ( for Navigator and Anthem, February and March sailing dates) possibly one-offs? Thank you!
  14. Hi. My cruise is not until February. Hope you get notified soon!
  15. @Matt, any guess on Allure redeployment? Curious where Allure will be, when she repositions to Galveston next fall.
  16. Looks like crew exercises with tenders. Or could it be Coast Guard inspection? Will miss her when Allure is the big girl in town.
  17. For those with missing data, call your local health department. I was vaccinated at a small local grocery store chain pharmacy. I just called my Health department to see if they could look in the (TX) state database to ensure both Moderna shots and lot numbers were captured. They confirmed it was, and offered to make a duplicate card with my details, dates, lots, and verified by the HealthDepartment name in the clinic spaces. I’m definitely taking them up on this offer, for the household. We can keep the duplicates in safe deposit box just in case needed.
  18. @Galveston Steve , thanks, this naming scheme corresponding to pier number and streets makes more sense for new to Galveston people driving to the Ports. Can you confirm something? I thought I read the Port was signing an agreement with Lyft during last meeting agenda, and Uber would not be allowed in the terminal areas . Is this official?
  19. @smokeybandit, I found two that will book the one night you need - Harbor House close to the pier, and Courtyard. Harbor house is also within walking distance of a good seafood restaurant. sometimes hotels will only show for a minimum of 2 nights during peak times like Spring Break. But if so, and you call directly, you can often book for 1 night, Good luck!
