Worst feeling in the world. I remember being in a virtual department meeting this past September thinking... I'm supposed to be on CoCo Cay right now. FORK ME! lol.

Don't think we've ever interacted but welcome back! We are booked for September which is basically a coin flip at this point.
If that's cancelled but other things are a go in Q3 or Q4 as some are predicting, might book last minute-ish, just need a little heads up for wife's job (nurse so cannot just take off last minute).
    Fingers crossed!
We hope to travel to Clearwater or something in late March. Wife will have vaccine by then, I probably will not but worth the risk (we both survived COVID already, she got it volunteering as an EMT day after Xmas and passed it to me, minor-ish symptoms)... Wife needs a trip, she's been working through all this, whether volunteering as an EMT or her day job as an RN, scare after scare after scare after outbreak after outbreak ... You get the idea ... She needs a few days in the sun... STAT.
We might do a NJ Shore or Ocean City MD over the summer. Also a trip to NY Adirondacks where wife and her family own a few small cabins...
Gotta make some sorta back up plans ... And I'm grateful to have the means to do so.

Everyone has to make their own decisions on risk profile and what is or is not acceptable but I will share that I have been over to Disney at least a dozen times since spring break 2020 started and have been very impressed with the efforts made to control spacing, enforce mask wearing, etc.

I will cross my fingers for you! I totally feel your wife’s need for sun and warm.  Please tell her thank you for her service!  My husband and I are in the current group to get vaccinated (educators) but the roll out is very slow...hoping it speeds up..and my husband has some health issues.  If I get vaccinated, we have agreed I will take my almost 18 year old to Disney for spring break.  She’s had a miserable senior year and this was the plan before all our lives changed.  We will chance it, be as safe as possible and quarantine her when we get back.  However, if I don’t get my first shot in the next 3 weeks, then we scrap it and go in June.  Maybe we can do an Airbnb on Lake Michigan low key for a few days.  Our last cruise was an amazing 12 day med/Greek isles  summer 2019 and we cancelled our 2020 cruise so I’m anxious to try...looking like Christmas 2022 might be the time though I’d love to try 2021.  I just don’t think I could take another cancelation!  Jane

@princevaliantus you're also missing the fact other ships in the fleet are not delayed until Q4 2021.
Very few, if anyone, ever thought the entire fleet of Royal Caribbean ships would be sailing by the end of this year.
The question isn't when will every ship be back in service, rather, which ships will return to service first.

No.  From Empress to Anthem, we've liked each ship so far.   They all offer something different and unique.
Since I am sitting home instead of sailing on our 11 night cruise that was originally scheduled for RIGHT NOW, I will double down on my first statement.

    Hi everyone,
Winter in Illinois with no hope of cruising soon and waiting to get a vaccine so I can go to Disney was MAJORLY getting me down!  It was time to come back home lol.  I have missed thinking about cruising and we have begun to consider a New Year’s Eve cruise with the kids, since spring break is impossible for the next few years (husband and I both teach, and our spring breaks are off until my district shifts again).  Anyway, just wanted to say hi again and I hope everyone is well and planning for cruising with a vengeance (and a prayer that things open up soon)!  Jane

sk8erguy1978 reacted to LogicallyLazy in Will check in times matter?
For my Singapore cruise, the timing depends on how early you check in. Once check in opens, the higher likelihood of getting an earlier boarding time. I checked the app every few hours when check in opened 90 days before the cruise

Also, one thing to note is that if you made any changes to your reservation, your check in time resets and needs to be selected again which is something I didn’t think was a good thing. So if this does gets implemented in other countries, just take note to always re select your check in time if you made any changes to your reservation (e.g. change room/upgrade)

I wanted to thank everyone for their replies and give them and update. We just decided to lift and shift our cruise to April 2022 which falls within the current requirements on the lift and shift program.

I cannot speak for everyone who might shift 2021 to 2022 but the cost alone for my Sep 21 sailing vs Sep 22 is about $2200 more last time I looked. The 25% extra if they cancel doesn't cover the difference in price, I'll be L&S for sure. Back in June of 2020 I shifted my December 2020 cruise to September 2021 and cancelled my September 2020 cruise. A few days later I upgraded the shifted Jr. Suite to a Grand Suite, decent price I thought at about $4400. (That's how loose the rules were -- or my agent that good -- either way :)).
Depends when in February. Price out next May's cruise and see if it's that different in price, maybe like me, a L&S would be the obvious choice. Of course if you want to go in May if it sails, you're committed to paying anyway. I have until July before payment and if things are still this vague in July, oy vey!

I don't see any down side to L&S'ing your cruise into 2022....just be aware that they are only allowing "optional" L&S through 4-30-22.  The latest rule for L&S seems to be that you can only L&S your cruise past 4-30-22 if Royal cancels.  IOW I'm not sure they would allow you to optionally L&S your cruise past April.  If you make final payment and Royal then cancels your cruise, I believe they will allow you to L&S past May 1 but they are now only allowing 1 week on either side of your original sail date vs the 4 weeks that they previously allowed.  They are definitely tightening up the L&S rules.

I'm certain I would have made a backhanded under breath but loud enough for her to hear comment.
I am constantly scolding my wife for double dipping in sauce we are sharing... Heck, even if it's her own personal helping! Dip once, and only once.

    Michael Bayley is that you?
The reason some of us can afford to spend 1000s on a cruise is by finding little ways to save money here and there.  Plus it's not like like they are charging $0.50 for that container of water, plus 18% gratuity.

We brought a case of water with us the twice.  The first time it sucked lugging it around with us until our cabin was ready.  The second time it sucked even more.
We haven't brought water with us since the second cruise.

Have not been back since 2011 but, we just took a cab to Megan's Bay to be on our own time. They cattle you in pickup trucks charging for every passenger. I recall one time they wanted (probably did?) charge for a young child sitting on the fathers lap.
    We also enjoyed Sapphire Beach.
We also go to Bushwackers for a Bushwacker (and maybe food) located at Paradise Point. The views are awesome and the skyride is walking distance to Havensight. If you're sailing Oasis Class you'll need a cab as it's 2.5 miles away (according to Google Maps).

Before the drink package days we'd bring refillable bottles, worked out great.
This probably doesn't need to be said, but we used the cups provided at the water stations to transfer the water to bottle. We never filled directly to be sanitary and courteous.

    From the RC website
Guests may bring non-alcoholic beverages as carry-on items on boarding day. Non-alcoholic beverages may not exceed 12 standard (17 oz.) cans, bottles or cartons per stateroom.
If you plan on getting a beverage package, (I always get the deluxe) bottled water is included and readily available at all of the bars, as well as other stations around the ship. Veteran cruisers recommend that each time you buy a drink from the bar, ask for a bottle of water too, and take it back to your stateroom to have an ample supply. On port days they will have places set up to get bottles of water to take with you off the ship.
