    Welcome @Ashbee262!
I agree with the renew (as will almost anyone else) but I'd like to add for others stumbling across this, if your passport is less than a year old there isn't a charge to change your name and get a new one. A lesson my wife and I learned ... the expensive way! ?
  2. Thanks

@Ashbee262  Hi and welcome to the RCB forums!
Like @whenismynextcruise just said, you should get a new passport.  It was highly recommended to my wife by agents during our honeymoon cruise with her maiden name still on all her documents.  A copy of your marriage licence will only get you so far.  That was over 20 years ago and agents are much more strict now.  Save yourself a lot of grief and get that new passport as soon as possible.

@sk8erguy1978  The math... 2 Boxes = 400 straws / (14 friends + 2 for you) = 25 individually wrapped colorful straws per person.  What are you going to do after the second day?  ?

I brought metal straws, the brush cleaner, in a nice canvas bag last cruise.  Used the straw once, then had to carry the dirty straw back to my cabin as there was no where to really clean it (other than the public bathroom) and it also made the canvas bag wet and yucky if you put it in there dirty.  I washed the bag when I got home and apparently it wasn't made for that...LOL  I don't drink a lot of frozen drinks, and other than those have no need for a straw.  One time I took the bag to the hot tub with me, knowing I was going to order a mudslide, and once we got there realized I had no where to put it once they took the glass away, as I was not going to put it on the tiles (make sure you're paying attention so they don't take the straw too).
Too much work to bring my own straws.

Just to echo, yep, the porters will take just about anything you hand them. We have even given them garment bags with the hangers hanging out and all! A few bucks and start that vacation, let the porters do the hard work for you! ?

I appreciate the WJ burgers because they usually have bacon available as part of the fixins'!  Don't have to make it to breakfast hours to get my meat candy fix.

Boy I’m gonna hear about this one....but I actually like the hamburgers in the WJ. When I’m just looking for a “bite” I usually grab one.  While they don’t look all that appealing (I’ll concede that), they taste pretty good.

I like this idea the best. Not that metal straws are expensive, but seems easier to carry a bunch (maybe 10?) on you and just go back to stateroom for more. You can even be kind and give them out. I have no problem reusing a plastic straw (I do it at home), just less worry of losing it or cleaning it or whatever.

You can get a pack of about a zillion plastic straws at The Dollar Tree for a buck.

Close, but not quite with my sailing. On-board price has been a very consistent reverse-calculated $70/day, vs. the current $65/day that's listed as "20% off".
Believe me, I wish this was a simple glitch where it's showing the on-board price with no discount applied, but that really doesn't seem to be the case.

This can be really hard to get out of and even some agencies that dont charge a fee will give clients a hard time to give it back.  For MEI-Travel, we do not charge a fee to work with you (Royal pays all Travel Agents - so that fee is an add on) and if you try us and decide that it isnt right for you, we will either work to find another agent in the agency to work with you or we will transfer it back to you so fee or hard time given.

It is very rare for Royal to get involved in the relationship with the client and the agent.  Royal will contact the agent to let them know that the client wants to transfer it back to them, but I have been involved in situations where the other agency would not transfer it back to the client or another agency without charging a cancellation fee.
Its really important to interview the agent or agency about fees, cancellations and level of services you expect BEFORE you book.

This is all true. Trust me, it is NOT easy to get the original agency to release the booking. I only had to do it once, but if they decide they’re not going to release it, there is nothing you can do about it.  Of course, they will lose any future business from you, but they were going to lose it anyway.  They do not have to release your booking if they don’t want to.

Not knowing about The Key alone says find a new agent, transfer the booking and write the $35 off. As a first time cruiser you will definitely benefit from someone who doesn't see you as a $ sign.
MEI is a sponsor of this board, I'd suggest starting with them. (disclaimer, not an MEI customer but thinking about it for my next cruise - which I booked directly but should still be in the transfer window.)

Also important to note that A/B/C may mean nothing if the plane is already coming in fairly full and continuing on. I've experienced, more than once, a 143 seat plane come in and have 60-70 people stay onboard...so even if you're A60 and excited about being an A, you may already be stuck in a middle seat. Unfortunately, that's just something you won't really know until you step onboard, and another reason I personally prefer airlines that let you select seats.

Night before I order a pizza, open a beer and just start tossing stuff in a suitcase. I'm done in about 7 minutes. I will however, double check shirts, shorts and pants maybe a week or two prior to ensure they fit and are in acceptable condition, if not I'll replace them. Also, about a week or two prior I'll go to Harmon and buy a bunch of toiletries.
