I have been unsure about how this works so far and want to get it straight before my first RC cruise.... I was just watching a youtube Vlog of a young couple who just went on Harmony. They were telling all of their experiences and things as it was their first cruise too. They prepaid for their gratuities (which I already have done as well, and I am sure most people do), and they said that midweek, they had decided to leave a few dollars extra one or two nights... because their room attendant had been extra nice... but then they were confused because at the end of the cruise , the room attendant left them a tip envelope . They were confused by it, and didnt know exactly what to do... they said they went ahead and left more... but left kind of confused about it all...and now I am a little confused too.... I mean I understand that you can always leave extra tips , but it seems a little awkward that they would leave you an envelope 'expecting' a tip, when you have already prepaid..... Thanks for any words of advice here!

okay... soooo I got my skates that I ordered on Amazon, so that i could 'practice' ... and test out the waters before the cruise... boy was the water WAY DEEPER than I had anticipated...... I put the skates on today... and those little suckers are way more slippery than I remembered from .. 30+ years ago..... needless to say, it did not go as 'smoothly' as i had envisioned in my head. I was going to try a little more and then I realized that I have to drive in to the office tommorrow for a big meeting (I normally work at home)... and it would not be ideal to be on crutches... so I took my skates off.... I think my skating career might be over....

I guess that is a perk to look forward to for way in the future! lol Regarding the luggage... I have been there before, most unfortunately... not on a cruise, but when going to Greece, several years ago, our luggage was lost..went to another country entirely... we didnt get it until we had been in Athens for 3 days! That was a rough 3 days.... lol

.. i have already been eyeing that October 2020 one... lol

I imagine everyone 'virtually' standing there waving goodbye to these folks like that one SNL airline guy skit... ' BU-bye... bye now... buubyeee....' hehe

WOW, YES..that is pretty much EXACTLY what I do too! I really HAVE found 'my people' lol

thanks for that tip @twangster .... i'll just stick to underwear and stuff that won't matter if they incinerate ... haha... it totally seems worth it though to get away with taking just a little bit less stuff... for sure!

Has anyone out there had their laundry done on the ship? I think I saw somewhere in one of the compass's that you can have them wash a bag of clothes for like 25 dollars? That seemed like a pretty great deal to me... just wondering if people commonly do that...?

In my current position, I receive 28 days of paid time off time, plus 2 personal days and 6 federal holidays....

I just want to say that it is so awesome to have found you guys! I feel like everyone here understands all of my questions and my general obsessing about my upcoming cruise! I am VERY excited about starting a new type of adventure (I'm most sure this will not be my only RC cruise already... lol)... Just sayin' thanks ... I found my 'herd'... ?

woo hoo... awesome guys, and thanks for all of the help! I ordered some of the compression cubes after reading everything said... i cannot wait.... i am just taking a 22in roller bag and a carry on duffle sort of bag that fits down over the handle... so I need to cram all i can into that little bag! ? Ya'll the best!!

oh yeah, i forgot that totally! ... I started out by just saying the beaches, but you can definitely enjoy a beach even when its cooler...and so i decided to say specifically the water park stuff... and totally forgot that point, that they weren't up and running last year... lol oops!

I was reading some of the winter time Cruise Compass's and saw where someone had written in the temps on the Christmastime Anthem cruise. They were pretty much in the range of 60... 65 degrees and windy... This got me to wondering, if it is that cool, do people still do the waterpark at CocoCay? I am going on Anthem for a NYE cruise and just wondering how this goes in the winter, when the temps are hit or miss...?

I know it is not specifically 'cruise' related, but travel in general... but what is the deal with travel cubes... is it something I should get? What are the benefits of using them?

haha! i love it... i worked there from 1990 to 1993... actually it was quite the party for back in the day... long waits... and always busy busy and a lot or work but was fun. My 3 roomates all worked there with me...AND the apartment next to ours was 3 Chi Chi's bartenders lol... the whole Chi Chi's would party at our apartments after work on weekends lol I swear we had at least 3 lbs of those chocolate mints in our freezer at home too! haha

...I worked at Chi Chi's back during college in the 90's... so I would likely still be impressed...hahaha ? Ill have to try to find that menu... cool, thanks!

Since I am a newbie pretty much ( I went on one cruise in the greek islands in 1994, during my visit to Greece, but it was a very small ship), I was wondering, when they have 'theme' nights.. like a 70's dance party... or other special themed event... do they let you know about it before you go somehow, so that you can bring appropriate clothing or whatever...? Just curious....

@karl_nj thank you! Yes, these seem like they would be much more easily approved ...that other device seemed iffy on whether they would approve it.. I will check into these further!

I will be on Anthem.. and will have just some basic electronics..phone, ipad, camera ...and my roommate will have the same.....

I have seen a lot of conflicting information regarding bringing a power pack with extra outlets/usb ports... Some people say you cant take anything like this and some say you can bring them , just not a surge protector. Can someone tell me for sure if something like this one at amazon, would be okay?
