Have you done the first option of islands? Seems most people like the 2nd option better. I like the cheaper fare better! LOL! But don't want to miss out on a better trip

We are about to lock in our cruise for next May/June (2020) on Freedom of the Seas, leaving from San Juan. However, there are two different itineraries, one week apart. The cost for the later cruise is $700 more, so we were looking at the earlier one at the end of May. However, the itineraries are quite different. Option 1- May 31-June 7: San Juan, Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, St. Maarten. Option 2- June 7-14: San Juan, St. Thomas, St.Kitts, Antigua, St. Lucia, Barbados. Which would be your choice and why? TIA!

I asked this question on another post, but thought I might get more responses making a whole new thread. We have never been on a cruise and are going to take one next summer (June 2020) for our 25th wedding anniversary. We are considering one leaving from San Juan as our first. However, the reviews form Cruisecritic are AWFUL. Like seriously giving us pause. They talk about horrible food, very rude passengers and over-crowding. We want a wonderful anniversary trip, and don't want to feel like we wasted our opportunity to get away and the money we will spend. The itinerary looks amazing, but I don't want to fight my way through throngs of people (who the critics say are loud, and party all of the time??), for mediocre food. Any thoughts? AND, if not this cruise destination, which one would you recommend for a wonderful anniversary? TIA!!
