If that is the case (I don't think it is) then why are additional gratuities added to the UDP?

I have no desire to go down that rabbit hole, we all know what happens; I am comfortable with my decision, I have been doing it this way since the advent of the auto gratuity. The OP asked how to deal with the gratuities, I gave a very prudent solution

It isn't really a D+ rate, its a rate that one receives after reaching 340 C&A points. At this level you pay 150% of single cruiser fare, rather than 200%

No, your sea pass card does not have our photo on the card. Your photo will appear anytime you make a purchase, and any time you leave and return to the ship, regardless of your choice on the biometric waiver. Facial recognition is also used regularly throughout the ship regardless.

WOW I thought The Book was the 2nd best Royal Production I have ever seen (behind Mama Mia). We went to it twice when we were on Odyssey in March.

She won't have any issues, one can just press the buttons like a normal elevator; 3/4 of the time that's what I did just out of habit.

You have to be within a centimeter or so to activate the buttons. One night on a particular busy elevator, the DW was pushed back in the corner and up against the panel, that time there were a few accidental buttons activated. All in all, its much complaining about nothing

similar to the Oasis touch screen, but a little different. they are actually individual buttons, but hav sensors that activate when your finger (or anything else) is close for a duration of time

have been on Odyssey multiple times, there are no problems with the elevator. The touchless buttons are a little sensitive but nothing that had any impact on any cruise of mine.
