Again I feel the need to step in here. If you have teenage children, right now in 2019, then feel free to comment and give advice. If you don’t have children or have children that grew up many years ago please don’t make comments that make others feel bad. The OP was asking for help / a carrot, not a stick to hit them with. If your children are robots that just do what they are told think about their future too, and present for that matter. Spare the rod ruin the child is a very old saying for a reason.

Welcome to 2019. I blame social media, reality tv and YouTube. And don’t blame the parenting as we have 4, all different but with the same environment / upbringing! Im just glad to hear it’s not just us ?

In my experience of Europe a 50 is treated like a 20 so 100’s would not be super rare. If you had 500’s I would be way more worried. I think the may have stopped producing 500’s now though.

Quick one, not trying to hijack this thread I promise! Would you be able to bring your own skates and skate around the running track? Or would this be frowned upon? One of our kids like to skate and I believe explorer only has ice skating?

I second this post. You guys have been very helpful. We are 30 odd days out from our first cruise and although not my wife’s first choice of holiday I think it will work out. Some of the tips I have learned here will help make our holiday. Thank you all ?

Hi all, i would say say you are not alone. My wife’s biggest fear is the number of people and the possibility of being talked to by a stranger!!! After reading this I might persuade her that we should avoid windjammer on the first afternoon unless we get on early ish. Thanks all, Nikkoo

I have a quick question on this... We have booked 3 cabins for us and the 4 kids for a 13 night cruise. How many points do we get? Do the kids get points? Do we get their points? First ever cruise but the higher membership benefits look good and having 39 points each from this cruise would be a great start!

Hi, we are traditional with the early slot. This is all great news. My wife is quite shy and having dinner with strangers would not have been her idea of a fun time and my job has me meeting and talking to strangers all the time so I want a break from it too ? thanks all

Hi, quick one... We have a table for 6 booked in the MDR for our family. If the kids eat elsewhere will we sit on same table just the 2 of us? Or will they seat other people with us? Or give us a table for 2? We asked to be a table of 6 on our own as did not want our tribe upsetting other people if we can help it...

It’s tough. I would leave it to a month before but my wife likes to book early and know where we are going. And you know what they say? Happy wife happy life ?

All 3 of these are good and more centrally located. Park plaza ones are nice but try to find breakfast elsewhere. For clarity I’m a civil engineer and like a good hearty breakfast!!

I’ve never stayed there but it’s very well located for getting around London by tube. A lot around that area has been redeveloped recently, if it’s a new building all good, if it’s and old one check the windows are double glazed and not secondary glazing. It will be noisy at night!

Hi, its a nice hotel and ok for access to a couple of museums but everything else will be a tube. You will find better and cheaper in London elsewhere. The intercontinental on Grosvenor Sq is amazing but might be a bit pricey. Even the breakfast there was ok ?

I work in London. If you want my advice stay in a new ish hotel. Some of the older ones are horrific. Dorsett have a good one right by Aldgate tube station that is new and pretty reasonable. We use booking.com normally. Avoid any included breakfast anywhere that are all crap. Find a decent place out and about, I’d recommend ‘the breakfast club’ but tables can only be booked during the week, weekends is a 40 min wait. Being near a tube station is key. 10 min walk is the furthest you can get from a tube so this is not near! Feel free to ask any other question for honest response

Our cruise was £1500 cheaper. We are from the uk, booked direct. As we had 3 very specific room they could do nothing. I do deals for a living and was on the phone for an hour to them. all we got was about 10% of the difference in obc that’s all. Unless you can cancel, lose deposit and come out better it’s lost money. We could have done that but the rooms were not available, even though we had the rooms to cancel. Go figure ?

We have the MDR booked for the early slot but it’s good to know that the shows are repeated. I believe there are no broadway style shows on our ship but lots of other good stuff to watch. Youve all been been very helpful, thanks so much ?

I saw a post earlier about the royal app, pretty sure ours does not use it as it’s a smaller / older one. Do they not send you anything before you set sail?

If your ta will help then go for it. Even if you spend an hour on the phone you’ve made $90 for that hours “work”! And if you call them while at work that’s a win win ?
