That is why I am so confused, what qualifies as severe. I have asthama. It has never stopped me from doing or trying things. I have kayaked, moution climed, ran a 5k, and skied. All those activites are not advised for people with asthma, so I dont think a cruise will stop me.  Hell, I joined the military at 18 (lied of course about it), but served my country proudly with no issures. I am at risk every flu season, so I wash my hands, cover my mouth, and go on about my day.

I was just informed my son, type 1, and my father, who has a heart issue, would not be allowed on board  (June 20th, 2020 sailing date) per CDC restrictions.  We were issued a 125% credit with RCCL.  According to travel agent, this credit is non-transferable, even in the event my father passes before they lift the restriction.  i was a big RCCL fan right up until today.  I understand their policy to not let them on the ship, but I do not agree with their policy on the refund.  It is like getting credit to a store but you are not allowed to shop there.
One member of our party is leaving on a 2 year service mission for church and will not be able to use his credit.  Not making this transferable even within the family is ridiculous.
Common Questions that have arrived from this post:
I gave this information to RCCL.  My father is over 70 and a doctor's note would have mentioned his health issues.  Regarding my son, on previous cruises, giving that information helped the cruise line be prepared for meeting his needs.   Personally, I think travelers being dishonest in these matters is a central problem with the cruise industry gaining the public's trust going forward.
In my first contact with RCCL I was told I would receive a refund.  That story changed when the travel agent called RCCL.  I don't think everyone is on the same page just yet.  We are okay with the credit, but the non-transferable policy with an senior citizen that currently is banned from boarding does not sit right with me.  That policy is very unfriendly.

FYI, you may get split into two tables. Our group of 15 had to divide ourselves into 2 tables. They were next to each other and we just filled in as we arrived each night, despite seapass cards formally listing which table we were supposed to sit at.

@FManke beat me to it but yes, that is the one.  Also, it's a good idea to head to the MDR once you get on board to double check and make sure that they honoured your request.  If you are in a suite, you can also make this request to the suite concierge when they email you one week out.

If you get in the habit of using a travel agent, this is one of the things they will do for you --request dining times and type of table when you initially book your cruise.  There is sometimes a waiting list for 1st or 2nd seating, but a good agent keeps after RCI until you get the best reservation available.  Then when you get on the ship, your Sea Pass will show you your table number, and you can scope it out before dinner.

    @Douglas
Email [email protected]. they start to take requests 22 days before sailing.
Don't be disappointed if it takes a couple of days for them to respond. They can be slow at times.
    Welcome and good luck!

Pinging @Lovetocruise2002 , I think there is an email address that you can use to request this before your cruise, Sabrina will know.

Hello, just got back from HOTS with this same situation. RC made Hubby and I split up since our other room had an 18 & 17 (she is 18 in one month), split up so girls in one room, boys in another. We bought wow bands and just traded the bands to keep our sanity with Niece and Nephew. For leaving the ship we used our seapasses. For drinks we used our wow bands, from what i was told, the bartender did NOT serve the 18 if he tried to use the switch wow band since my name and picture show up when the band is scanned. The band did not have the alcohol pkg, so i would have seen a charge if he did get served. It got confusing with the same 4 color wow bands for two rooms, so recommend get matching colors for each room.

We do this every cruise.  Go to guest services and get an extra key for each of the two room.  The two people who swap will then have two cards, one to open their door and the other for onboard charges and exiting and entering the ship.  Onboard no one cares unless the teens cause an issue.  Guest services are used to it.

I love the way you handled this and that you stuck to your agreement with your boyfriend's parents.  Rare these days.  Nice.

You are able to get additional keys to open the cabins.  Just an FYI, I have an upcoming sailing on Allure and I have my kids (5,8,14, and 19) in an interior cabin with my wife and I directly across the hall in a outside balcony.  I thought I was going to have to split my wife and myself apart but my TA said as long as the kids are within a cabin or two, they can be in their own cabin.  That's how I'm currently booked so I know it can be done.

As prevoiusly posted, I think RCI may accommodate.  In our trip last month, my college student son brought his girlfriend, and we put women in one room and men in the other.  However, on Day 1 the stateroom attendant asked if we wanted to switch so my wife and I could be together.  Instead of saying I snore too loudly for me wife (!), I simply explained we had an agreement with the young women's parents. But my point is the the Stateroom Attendant wanted to accommodate us, and he thought both students were our children.  He did unlock the balcony latch, and we were able to go back and forth as needed in the adjoining rooms.

RC's policy is kids can be in their own room if connecting, adjoining or directly across from the parent/legal guardian's room.  Since the kid's room is 3 doors down, they won't allow you to name both kids in the room.  You can get extra keys at guest services made but you won't be able to change the sea pass card.

Staff is flexible - remember that most likely the only staff knowing about a room exchange is your room steward - and he/she is working for tips.

@Douglas I'm on Allure currently and just put our niece and her friend in the same room, both are 17. I took one of there sea pass cards and mine down to Customer service and they made new cards for us.  The exception is that there can't be a cabin between you and them. We have cabins next to each other.
