When my son flew to Europe and had a major flight change the night before travel, he called Air2sea and got it fixed. Be sure to save their emergency phone number.

Maybe, but still a concern of mine. Why diminish my concern just because others don't have the same concerns as mine?
The default answer, if you have tried the normal process, is to contact an executive. Their emails have been published elsewhere and by cruise consumer advocates. I'd suggest being brief and to the point. (How did Royal err and what remedy do you seek?)

Though the RC deck plans show this same info.
Yep, but some folks have trouble reading them. I read them as I consult with my TA.

Yes, there is the phone number for the rewards center, but I am guessing you received a confirmation email for your points redemption. When I need to call I look up the latest number.

Room selection is a good reason to use a travel agent, as already suggested. A TA can read deck plans that show which rooms are Pullman, which you state you want to avoid.

Was on the cruise planner today and at CocoCay there is the "swimming pigs tour"... and before the "sale" it is listed at $154. I have done this once before with my pig obsessed ex gf and I have no earthly idea why it would cost this much. You take a beautiful but short boat ride to the area where the pigs are at, and then you get to feed them apples if you choose, get into the water with them for a photo op.
Why such a bloated price for a short, maybe ten minute boat ride and apples?! Its not like I'm getting to drive a jet ski over to the island and then taking home lobster.
I love RC and I know this seems like a silly complaint, but I just had to point this out today.
Yes, overpriced, and not the authentic island according to other posts. Coco Cay is a beach day, and a normal beach for free, no parking, is a great deal!

Actually, for 100 per night we usually get an ocean view, which is why we've not been on newish ships.

I like the safe. Once or twice I've had the stateroom attendant tell me the safe was unlocked, but nothing was missing. (One needs to hold the door in until the lock clicks.)
As others have indicated, I can't imagine rushing to a flight without looking for wallet and passport. I do understand forgetting something, but never ID, tickets, keys. The lesson is to work a checklist. This is important for the newbie or occasional cruiser. However, there are enough people who forget something to lead Royal to have a better disembarkation process.
-
I wouldn't overdo the tipping, but we give extra to stateroom attendant and MDR staff, as we always dine there. You have prepaid gratuities, but excellent service is worth something extra. Other threads discuss tipping in detail. Where you cruise is a factor.

For 7 to 9 nights I don't need laundry except whites, perhaps, which I can wash in the cabin. Getting suitcase wrinkles out is the main challenge on a cruise, but a little bath steam usually works.

My wife has a terrible time sleeping. She has found that toppers aren't always available, as already reported. For me, a thin pillow is more important than the mattress.
-
I think Royal underestimated how important the food is. We can live with once a day room service and inflation based price increases, but service and overall experience are paramount.

Hello! I am traveling on the Oasis of the Seas, leaving Barcelona on May 12. I arrive in Barcelona on May 11. Does anyone have a hotel recommendation? Preferably close to the port?
Thank you!
k
We stayed at Hotel Colon, which is on the plaza for the Catedral. Short cab ride to the port. As stated, it's fun to wander around the Gothic Quarter. We had breakfast in a pastry shop nearby. There is a market within a few blocks' walking distance, and of course an ATM next to the hotel. The desk staff speak English, if that is a concern.

Some information is proprietary, and there are also security issues. Hence RCL should be consulted, as stated already.

We have confirmed that the Vision of the Seas will be leaving out of Norfolk for our April 12th sailing. RCL is dropping a day from the itinerary and only offering a $75 onboard credit for losing a day of cruising! Not happy with RCL
My Allianz policy for a different cruise provided 100 for missed port. So 75 is close but certainly less.

I'm going on Symphony in July, this is my 2nd cruise (first one was 17 years ago). How do I dress for the Formal night again? It's me and my 17 year old son.
A lot depends on your original plan/purpose for the trip which will drive what you pack. I always recommend dressing as an adult would when eating at a nice restaurant. That reflects my age. Younger people tend to be more casual. It's just that each ship has so many casual eateries, formal night is an opportunity to create an atmosphere in the Main Dining Room or Specialty Restaurant that is an experience in itself. Cruises are more than sandy beaches, but how you behave on a vacation is up to you in the end. Some vacationers are more self-focused while others look for a win-win that accommodates the wide diversity of cruisers on Royal Caribbean. Whatever you choose, have a great cruise!.

I waited until just before both my kids turned 18 to get them their own C&A number. I was told if they have their own number before they're 18 they only accrue the points from the cruises they took but if you wait until just before they're 18 they inherit the level you are at. I don't know if this has changed or if I had it wrong but it worked out well for us because now both kids are just shy of diamond. Happy cruising!
Kate
No need to wait. Our son had our status and accrued points simultaneously. Since we cruised as a family, it really didn't make any difference. There were separate C&A benefits for kids at the time, so he received his own letter in our stateroom based on his/our status at the time.

On that topic, take extra OTC products. On our Jan cruise in Tahiti my wife got sick and ship store didn't have anything useful. Apparently, she ate bad cheese at LAX but didn't get sick until after we boarded. Was afraid to go to medical, despite my urging.

Your cruise documents may not be ready. In my experience, there can be a couple of weeks delay after check in. Monday is a month out. I'd call Royal then if you can't get into app successfully. If you are eager, call Royal now. PS. See thread on luggage tags.
