If going to the MDR in shorts on formal night shows a lack of respect, I've given the finger to thousands. LOL.
If anyone's good time on a cruise relies on what other people are wearing......then folks your missing the boat. Literally. LOL.

Taking the idea of the FBI's 'Most Wanted', could RCI launch (pun intended) something called 'Thieves of the Seas'...

Registered sex offenders are not allowed to cruise. The cruise lines run the manifest a few days before sailing and they will call you and let you know you can't cruise.

Yes, the answer to your question depends upon weather you want there to be a formal night. If you want to dress up, there will be a night for you to do so. If you don't want to have a formal night, there isn't one.

Also be aware that the majority of people will not actually dress up for it and you are by no means required to do so unless you choose to.

I only concern myself with the location of my next beer on vacation. If you have to concern yourself with random people’s attire on vacation then you are doing life wrong. Hit the reset button and grab a pina colada.

Wear what you want you’re on vacation. Last thing we need are dress code nazis.

I don't even notice what people are wearing in the MDR 95% of the time.

I couldn't imagine being on vacation, policing what other people are wearing and then creating an account just to make a post about what other people are wearing.

It really doesn't bother me with what everyone wears (such as PJ pants, shorts or similar) in the dining room, shows and such places.  Once they set down, you don't really see that anyway.  It doesn't change how much a enjoy my meal or the show.

I could not care less about people wearing pajamas around the ship.

If you had documentation enough to board the ship you have what you need to visit the islands.  However you are always better off to travel with a passport especially if you become ill and have to be hospitalized on an island.  Also you could through no action of your own miss the ship and get stuck in a foreign country without a passport.

A little back story about room service. The assistant waiters with the lowest seniority get the duty of delivering the room service goodies. You'll see a different person everyday. I'm sure it's a bunch of running around the ship to places they were just at seemingly just minutes ago.
The delivery of your order is awkward. The full trays are a tight squeeze inside your cabin doorframe. It's an uneasy transition from when you answer the door and the waiter tries to enter fighting off the 10,000 lbs of force door closer with your tray of food. And, there isn't always a clear landing place for the tray once he/she gets inside. Above all else you are probably in your PJs trying to quickly cover yourself up with that inadequate free Royal robe. Yeah, it's a real awkward place and time. And yeah, that assistant waiter has drawn the short straw.
Now that you now this, that person who delivers your order? Deserves a couple bucks!!! Two or three dollar bills and a polite thank you go along way. My experience is they are surprised to receive it so it must not happen often. But now you reading this know better;  you are an advanced cruiser. Be that guy, do the right thing! When you place the order, whether its on the stateroom television or using a door hanger; lay a couple spare dollars out so they are ready to go. "Oh yeah, I gotta tip this dude" rummaging around to find a couple crumpled dollar bills after the tray of food has landed only adds to the strangeness.

Now, turn those bright lights back off because you look ridiculous with squinty eyes and messy hair. And for God sakes tighten that robe back up because Sponge Bob Squarepants is peeking out.

We're about 5 hour drive from Galveston,  but always drive down the night before.  Houston traffic is way to vulnerable,  plus a flat tire, mechanical issues, accident etc...  could ruin the trip pretty quickly.   We'd rather get there get a hotel room about 30 miles from the port, and just relax and start our vacation a day early.

I live in Florida so I drive to the ports but I always go a day early.  Too many things can happen so getting there a day early is a must!

I have never cruised out of New Orleans and decided to try the New Years Eve Cruise on Radiance of the Seas for my wife's and my anniversary.  The ship was beautiful and the upkeep was noticed as every area seemed to shine.  The food was excellent, my wife and I commented that each area Windjammer, Main dining and Chops were all the best experiences we had in a while.  The food was fresh and well prepared.  We think that maybe because they did not have to cook for as many people they were able to make smaller batches to keep food fresher.  Room attendant was best we have had in a while as well, he anticipated our needs and really went above and beyond.  Ports were awesome and overall cruise was great.  One thing that needs improvement in New Orleans is disembarkation.  We literally got in a line that was so long it went around the cruise ship entirely.  Over hearing many guests not happy with the process, I think they should have slowed down calling numbers and waited to clear the backlog, but they just kept calling numbers and the backup continued.  That is only thing I would improve for this cruise but easily one of the best cruises we have been on with Royal, as a Diamond member we had never tried this class of ship and were really surprised by all it had to offer.  Would definitely go on this class again if given the opportunity.

Have you attempted to send them a message via social media? (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)?
Not that it helps you personally now, but for any new cruisers who may be reading, this is why we so strongly recommend using a good travel agent.

MikeK got a reaction from Guad Crew in Parking and Terminal Ques Port Canaveral
We were on the Mariner in July and used terminal #5.  On all the other cruises out of Port Canaveral we had used terminal #1.  Since we always get to the port a day early I decided to do a scouting trip to #5 the day before the cruise.  It was a little different than #1 but it still has a large parking garage and unlike #1 you pay for parking after the cruise.  We left on the earliest time and there were no waiting.

I still mostly stand by my statement that people wear the pins to indicate experience/openness to share that experience (why call attention to it if you don't want to talk to others?)
BUT: I had an experience on Harmony just this week that made me think of this thread.  A lady in the row ahead of me at a show struck up a conversation with those sitting next to her.  By the second sentence, she said "Well, we are pinnacle which makes us the highest ranking passengers on the ship" (!!!).  The conversation was about standing in line and she told her new friends, "Well, since I'm Pinnacle that means I'm the highest ranking passenger on the ship, so I just join any line and as soon as staff sees me they just pull me to the front."
After she got her point across, she really was friendly and gave the other couple (first time cruisers) some very nice advice!  So I guess she embodied the best and the worst of the pin-wearers as described in this thread!
I saw her around the ship the rest of the week and my husband and I said, "There goes the highest ranking passenger on the ship!"
Just a story too funny not to share.

We are  Dia+ and have never worn a pin.  Next spring we will be Pinnacle and still do not plan to wear the pins.  Just not a pin wearer.  And I have my seapass card to show my status if needed.  But I do not care who wears pins and who doesn't.  Just an individual choice.
