Also depending on your location, you could be in direct view of a ship camera like we were...but everyone has different comfort levels with their own bodies.

This blog is probably one of my favorites of yours to date.  I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the ship and am glad it has fewer pages (thank you to those who didn't repost your photos when replying to one of your posts).  You went home??  I didn't know you ever went home-thought you basically lived on a cruise ship lately.  At any rate, keep enjoying those cruises.  I cannot wait to try a Quantum class ship sometime.

Odyssey October 2021 Italy/Greece. 9 nights with overnight in Athens. Will spend a few days in Rome before cruise. So Excited! This itinerary has been on my radar for a few years. Each year we cruise to celebrate another year cancer free. This cruise will be the 5 year mark. I was given a 15% chance to make it 5 years. I have every intention of making this cruise. Stage 4B endometrial cancer. I also have Lynch Syndrome which is a hereditary cancer gene that puts me at risk for another 12 cancers. So looking forward to living life to the fullest!

CruisinUpinLife got a reaction from ChessE4 in Dinner table size
Please make sure you check this situation out when you get onboard to ensure your table is set up as desired.  We had a large group next to us that did not do this nor did they make mention of it until night 2 when all of them were going to dinner at the same time at a table that did not fit them all.  I really did not understand why they did not think of this on night 1 but they did not.  Therefore, after dinner service started on night 2 they created a challenging situation for the dining room staff to find them a new location for their rather large group-not 14 but probably around 10 or so.  Just some advice to make your dining experience better for your group.  I would also recommend you do traditional dining to ensure you are all dining together every night at the same table that will fit all of you.

Just a general note about self disembarkation-it can be challenging to get an elevator that is NOT full to go down.  You may need to go UP to go DOWN to the level to leave.  Just be prepared for this or be prepared to take the stairs.  If you are only a few floors above where you need to be to disembark I would suggest you take the stairs.
I'm not sure of the answers to the questions so I'll leave that to more seasoned cruisers on here to help you.

I think asking others if they think you will like the Empress is challenging for others to answer.  A lot of why you may/may not like a ship will depend on what you are looking for in a ship.  Empress is very different than Oasis of the Seas.  There are some great blogs that highlight what makes Empress great and how it's different than the larger class ships.  I'd look for @twangster blogs because he does some great pictures and writing.  I'm sure he'd answer any questions you might have.  One of the best things about a smaller ship is what you've already highlighted-itineraries to places larger ships cannot get into or places that cannot support the volume of visitors that larger ships would bring.

In all seriousness these events are never good for the cruise industry.  Any cruise line in the news with bad news has a negative impact on the industry for everyone.
I waited to post my stuff.  I figured the new media would run with the first pictures and video to hit the surface as they desperately try to beat each other to market.

The Legend about an hour before the assault occurred.

Glory's original approach from a distance.

Right after the crash the Legend had to reset some lines.

This was after the crash and near miss as she circled around for a second try.

She did a nice turn to expose her stern to us.

If at first you don't succeed, try again.

Round two the Captain's girlfriend wasn't at the helm so it went a little better.  Practice makes perfect.

Just got off this ship on 12/14 and I have been on a few cruises. We took a first time couple with us and I also talked to a few other first time couples.
    Pros:
    Price was great.
No problem ever getting a seat in Windjammer.
No problem really getting a chair/lounge around pool area, but I consider up one deck fine too
Sorrentos pizza was actually very good and i'm from NJ and the other couple NY.   Huge difference from my last cruise on Anthem 2 years ago(and any other cruise before).
Compass deli had late night food if you wanted it and my wife loved it.
    Service everywhere was great.
Never a line really into anything.  Entertainment was fine.
Casino was fine, never really had an issue getting to a table. I talked to the hostess a few times just to make sure i was being rated and she was very accommodating.
    Con:
Room is smaller, but you don't spend much time there.  The tv in room is ridiculously small where it's hard to even see the picture
Doesn't really have specialty dining.  My wife and the other couple did Sushi making and absolutely loved it.  They all skipped dinner that night and the price was very reasonable.
Doesn't have all the fancy new stuff, but ship is clean.
Viking lounge TV picture was so bad could not watch it.  Not sure if it's was just the President's cup golf or all the time.
Overall a great trip.  The other first time couple with us will do another cruise. Some of the other first time cruisers were on the fence about doing another.  I told them, you should at least try one of the newer ships.  They loved the price, but there wasn't too much to do they thought.   Food was good, not great.

We will be doing another one, but probably on one of the newer ships as I've not done Oasis type yet.

As a vocal critic of the so called Amp of Voyager I thought it is only fair that I put in a honest review.
First of all, the cruise itself was excellent and my family and I had an amazing time. Mostly due to the amazing staff who continually went out of their way to make everything perfect.

    Positives
Room - We had a quad share oceanview but as cruisers who spend no time in the room it was more than sufficient.
Food - Mostly very good. We only ventured to the shambles of the windjammer for 1 lunch, breakfast and dinner. It was more chaotic at all times than I have ever experienced. Crowded and people continually walking out with snacks as there is just no other option for those on the pool deck or sports deck. This left the top decks with plates lying around and the poor cleaners overworked. That said it is not really my scene so to me not a big deal. The MDR especially at dinner was sublime. I have never had a better quality set of dinners, all piping hot, delicious and the meat all tender. The cafe was fine and surprisingly not too crowded most of the time.
Service - Bar service was pretty quick and as always friendly but the service in the MDR was outstanding. Our main waiter Michael along with his assistant Wasif were professional and engaging. My children were in tears when there was a chance we were not going to have them on the last night.
Activities/entertainment - plenty to keep all going throughout the day.

    Negatives -
My Time Dining - They increased the amount of early dining slots which meant MTD didnt start until 7pm. The problem is so many turned up at 7pm, while not everyone was finished from the early slot that the lines were long. I am pretty patient and while not delighted to not get in until 7:30 when I had a reservation at 7, others were a lot less patient.
Lines - The extra cabins were noticable. They added laser tag but it only happened 3 times which in itself replaced sessions of ice skating. This led to long lines at both.
Amplification - Anything new is appreciated but the hoopla surrounding this was over the top. The additions were lacklustre and the biggest thing that is noticeable is the lack of dining options.

Overall we still had a wonderful time however I have never been on a ship with more people whinging and whining.  The most notable were the diamond club members who never stopped. Maybe true that the sevice to them has been downgraded but the biggest group of them sit and drink nothing but water until the happy hour, then go hell for leather. They would make nothing for the company.

It certainly hasnt stopped me as we booked another on board.
