  1. For me the prepaid gratuities are the bare minimum. I always budget extra money for great service. People work very hard in the service/cruise/tourist industries and can all have a bad day . Instead of leaving less of a tip, use the comment card to call out individuals that did not meet your expectations, also use the comment cards to recognize great service. During the cruise write down peoples names/positions so when it is time to fill out the card you have the info in front of you.
  2. I am sold on packing cubes. I have two sets because sometimes I need two of the same size. I pack like this. Roll everything- 1 packing cube has underwear/socks - 1 has swim suits/swim shirts/shorts & 1 cube is misc. When on the ship store the cubes on the shelf in the closet. It is very convenient. Also if at the end of your journey and you are overweight in a bag you can quickly move cubes around to balance the weight. I have also included the digital luggage scale I purchased for $9.00. This is always within a 1/4 lb of the airport scale very impressed for the price of the scale. Saved me from having to move things around at the airport check in. 3. On your second to last night of your cruise your room attendant will leave you a you a "Customs Deceleration" paper to fill out, one per family. You will bring it with you when you disembark the ship with your luggage you will hand it to a Customs Officer, as long as you have nothing to declare your all done. I would not add any real time, it goes very smoothly.
  4. This info is all about the transfer of points from the RCCL credit card. So they are saying once you redeem them you cannot cancel or move them,& if you lets say cancel your cruise you would lose them. Once you redeem the points and they are transferred to your OBC to your on board account they become refundable to you. On your cruise you can check your account on the TV and it will have your OBC listed as either refundable or non-refundable. We ended with $47.00 credit on our credit card at the end of the cruise.
  5. I redeemed points from Royal Caribbean Credit Card about three months before our Radiance cruise in May. I called RCCL and asked if they received the OBC and she checked and yes they did and it would show up on the cruise planner about two weeks before sail date. It did show up at the top of the home page for Cruise Planner and could have been used. There are two types of OBC, refundable and non-refundable. The RCCL credit card OBC is refundable. Our kids surprised us with a $100 OBC to buy us dinner, they are all put on your on board account, at the end of the cruise any unused OBC that is refundable is put back on the credit card you have on your account. The OBC that you get from RCCL (when you book your cruise) is non- refundable so if you do not use that up you lose it. I know that would be impossible but I thought I would share it.
  6. This is a great tip for transportation to & from YVR airport to/from cruise dock. We just got off the Radiance of the Seas 05/17/2019, and did not want to be rushed by taking the cruise line bus and pay the $21.00+ per person they wanted, I looked into other options and found the public transportation called "Sky Train", it has a station about 5 minutes away on foot from Canada Place called the waterfront station. Please note there are two train lines that run from the area of Canada Place , you want to take the "Canada Line", the station is around the corner and down about a block from the station that is across the street from Canada Place. The cost $3.11 USD (4.20 Canadian) per person one way it takes about 26 minutes. Canada Place is where the cruise ship dock in Vancouver. The station at the airport is a short walk from the arrival/departure area. I don't know what taxis cost but Uber/Lyft is not available (late 2019 is projected for service) in the city of Vancouver. We had four pieces of luggage, a backpack, and a tote (so how did we drag all this luggage to the train station?), I always have six plastic hook bungee cords when we travel and I piggy backed the luggage. One bungee went through the top handles of the bag, two bungees hooked together went around the bags, so we each had two bags hooked together and rolled the luggage down the street - and we weren't the only ones , the train is full of people going to the airport.
