Paige reacted to SpeedNoodles in Diabetics not allowed on cruise
Except before that it says Boarding WILL be denied. So it's really unclear. And that's why anyone who wants to risk it will just lie.

Ha, I accidentally created a new post that just quoted myself. #narcissist

I just love that cat Gears, that's an even angrier looking cat that mine. But I have to agree, it's either a fake post or a lot of pertinent information was omitted.

"... we went for a walk around the rocks came back to the terminal..." Ahhhh....no. You don't get to wander around...unless someone has never been on a cruise and thinks you can. Fake post.

I think one thing that could be a boost is overnight itineraries either at private island resorts or major U.S. or Intl cities...or some combination of both, if applicable.
Ex: port out of Vancouver, overnight stay in SF or LA. Or if cruising to Hawaii out of Vancouver, an overnight in Honolulu. Or out of Sydney, Australia, overnight stay at a private island resort rumored to be built in the region the same in the caribbean. In Europe, a number of Mediterranean cities for an overnight stay.
Explorer OTS did that once in consecutive weeks, in SF. Be nice to see a lot more of that.

That's the problem when you copy click bait sensationalized headlines. They misrepresent the situation. This seems to be big cause of the exaggerated hysteria right now.

I could be wrong but my understanding is that they are expanding their line of credit. That is not the same as borrowing the money, although potentially they could. Interest rates are at historic lows. It might be a good ideA to use that credit line to pay off more expensive debt. That's what I would do.

Paige reacted to HeWhoWaits in Airlines are doing away with middle seats and beverage service!!
They have so few people on most of the flights that they could assign a single person per row right now, so "announcing" that they aren't assigning middle seats is little more than an attempt to put a positive spin on a bad situation.

Paige reacted to Matt in Diamond plus out of concierge lounges
Welcome to the boards.
The way I see it, D+ still have access to Diamond lounge, which has same exact culinary and beverage offerings. Quite often the two lounges are pretty much in the same location.
And if you want to get technical about it, many ships have had their Concierge Lounge converted over to a Suite Lounge, and when that occurred over the last couple of years, D+ did not have access to it. So it's not that much of a new change.

If you pay for it, then, it's not a perk! ?

Paige reacted to CoupleOfCruisers in Diamond plus out of concierge lounges
This is great news! When we book suites we like the benefit of the Concierge Lounge. There is nothing worse then having it over run by Diamond + members who go in early and save seats. We pay a lot of money for this perk!
On cruises we book in a non suite cabin we are happy to huddle with the unwashed masses in the Diamond lounge!

Welcome to the message boards.
With growing numbers this really should come as no surprise as the current venues are simply not big enough to contain the numbers involved.
On my current cruise I have been restricted from the Concierge Lounge. I understand all too well what you mean however of 272 Emerald, 86 are moving to Diamond for their next cruise and of 598 Diamond, 35 are moving to Diamond Plus. The CL only seats ~50 guests yet now there would be 35 new D+ competing for CL seats on their next cruise absent of any restrictions. This is one ship graduating 35 people to D+. Across the fleet there are hundreds that will be graduating to D+ this month and hundreds next month.
They simply can't continue in this fashion without changing some rules which is well within their rights to do so. It's printed in the CAS terms and conditions that they can make changes without notice any time they need to.
I've been facing this since first earning D+ thirty two cruises ago. What Royal has done on all of my cruises is expand or overflow the Diamond Lounge to include more room. To be honest and fair this has worked quite well on all thirty two D+ cruises.
On a recent cruise through the Panama Canal the CL was off limits to D+ but they used the entire Some Enchanted Evening Lounge on Vision for the nightly happy hour. This worked out really well and even many of the 86 Pinnacles ended up coming to happy hour there instead of the CL.
Pinnacle numbers are also growing, 5 guests on this sailing graduated to Pinnacle.
The simple truth is that the numbers have grown to the point they need to make changes.
So while I have been impacted by this change many times I also understand it is a needed change given the numbers of guests ascending up the CAS top tier levels.

Paige reacted to Grenadyr in Experimental Drink Package Calculator
The first one I can't do much about due the limitations in the service I'm using. I'll need to find a more flexible standalone website builder that I can work with. Maybe changing the input fields to the same style as the cruise length and port stays will make it easier to scroll. I noticed that scrolling on my phone would routinely screw up the values I entered on the drink sliders.
The second one is done. I changed the default to 33 and allowed selection of any whole number value between 0 and 100.

Thanks for this. While I knew deep down I would find no challenge getting my money's worth - now it seems justifiable ? Also, I drink too much evidently.

Paige reacted to Anita Taylor in Quantum food in Asia
We are booked on Quantum from Singapore to Hong Kong February 2020, I have seen reviews that say the food and service is not up to the usual RCI standard. Wonder if anyone can reassure me. We are seasoned RCI cruisers which is why we chose Quantum.

Paige reacted to Grenadyr in Experimental Drink Package Calculator
I made a spreadsheet to calculate my break even point for getting the Deluxe Beverage Package on an upcoming cruise. It turned out to be pretty useful and I thought others might find it interesting. So... I made a site on Wix to host an online version of the calculator for anyone that might be interested.
DrinkCalc
DrinkCalc V.2 (Now prettier and hopefully easier to use.)
I'm open to feedback to improve it as needed. Keep in mind the options for style are limited but I can tweak the math as much as I want.

Paige reacted to SummerJoy72 in Travel agent success story
This is our first time using a travel agent, which I decided to do after listening to about 10 podcasts. ?. Well, lo and behold she called me earlier this week. Our cruise went down almost $800!!!! Such awesome news and reinforced to me to always use a travel agent for cruises in the future!

Paige reacted to fonemanbob in Hangover Prevention
Hydrate with lots of water. Take Advil at bedtime. And eat food and snacks. Also don`t use the excuse I`m not driving so I can have 1 more drink. Nothing worse than having a hangover on a sea day or getting sunburned because you were too blitzed. Lastly don`t know anything about the hangover pills. Sorry.
