  1. On a whim I decided to start checking my Southwest tickets for our cruise in November when I do my cruise planner checks to see if I can get a better deal. I had booked separately each way (for various reasons). Just rebooked one leg for $50/each less on the exact same flight, and then cancelled our return tickets which I had booked with points (and repriced last week for 1,500 less points per person in the same manner), and applied the travel funds from the first flight to the exact same flight we were booked for WAY cheaper. Overall for the both of us, I paid less than $300 for our flights. So, if you're still reading by now - check your flights! you can rebook like you do drink packages for a better price! (Tuesday is always the best day to buy Southwest tickets, btw) And now that Southwest travel funds never expire, this is an even better deal!
  2. Would you accept Canadian bills at your place of business? Thanks for the correction. However in Texas we would not accept Pesos so it is more a general rule of thumb when travelling. But if you feel better about correcting this, I'm glad.
  3. I approach it this way: Do we accept Canadian (or insert other country) currency here in the US? No, so therefore I am not going to assume they take US Currency, and I will either exchange some money, or hit an ATM when I arrive, or just plan to use my credit card. The exception to this rule of thumb for me is where I know the US dollar is accepted and even desired over the local currency (i.e. Mexico, Honduras, etc... - have never had an issue with US money in these locations, and I actually prefer not to use my credit card in these countries). Of course, the areas that have ports full of US cruise ships will likely accept US currency, so if I am not sure, I make sure i have my credit card just in case.
  4. It's only a pack n play and if they're under 3, they're supposed to sleep in them to keep them contained, I guess, if the seas are rough. We just moved our 3 year old to the fold out sofa and slept her perpendicular so she couldn't roll off.
  5. Our general guide that we use is Cabin attendant - $50-100 (more if the kids are with us) MDR - $20-40/each server Bartenders - $1/drink, or if we're going to be there a while, $5 with first drink. Room Service - $5 We also leave $3-5-ish on the table in the Windjammer if we eat there. We also tip excursion guides and wait staff at all inclusive resorts. We pack a bunch of different denominations.
  6. We loved Enchantment - yes, she is a little rusty and aging (salt water will do that) but we loved the ship, the staff was a blast, and overall we enjoyed the smaller ship. It felt more intimate and I liked the layout. I am not sure who the cruise director is now, but we just loved Bobby and we sailed her twice with him as CD. Plus, a Grand Suite is going to be lovely.
  7. I didn't see mine start to really populate until about 90 days out. You're still in that window, so hopefully you start to see things show up soon. That said, not a huge number of excursions are available in Costa Maya anyway. I would advise patience or perhaps researching 3rd party excursions if you have an idea of what you'd like to do.
  8. Yep - easy as that: "Lava flow with a Kraken rum floater, please! and STAT!" (okay not that last part). YUM!!
  9. I would say no, I'm sorry. But they are super responsive if you send them an email and ask all your questions and maybe they can help find some solutions.
  10. There is a wooden bridge like structure coming into the entrance that could be a little tricky, but my inlaws managed their rolators just fine over it, so I imagine a powered wheel chair would be fine. I can't remember if there is a step up or down to the pool area or not, but I do recall it was easily managed by the inlaws (not the same, but they had concerns too).
  11. Trying to decide if I should pack up my gear and take a refresher course for a dive at Coco Cay. Anybody have any feedback on the diving?
  12. That's crazy! The one and only Carnival cruise I have been on (and will ever go on) had all sorts of ash and debris spewing from the funnel all over the walking track. I remember thinking how odd that was, and there was someone literally assigned to follow the wind/plume and sweep the ash off the track. So, in short... I am not surprised. Good test of the new muster systems though!
  13. For your teens, I recommend just going to guest services and adding 'cash' to the teens accounts. That way you can control how much they have on there, and you don't have to worry about holds on the accounts. If they go over, you can always add more. If there is left over in the account, you can cash out at the end of the cruise.
  14. ...Don't mind me, I'm just over adding Aleve to my cruise kit... that's crazy!
  15. Vaccinated guests can go wherever they want. There will be certain areas on the ship that are designated vaccinated only. It really depends on what ship you'll be on. As far as I could tell on Liberty 2 weeks ago, specialty restaurants allowed all guests in. The only difference is everyone had to wear their mask when moving about the restaurant. Seated it could be removed.
  16. Lanyard with detachable connection. If it's not RFID, I have them punch a hole. If it is RFID, I use one of these:
  17. They will have 'Box office' hours identified on the schedule when you get on board. You can make your reservations during those windows on the app.
  18. From last week, cheapest wine on the dining room menu was around $11, although Giovanni's had a chianti for $8. Beers were around $8, and cocktails from the well around $10. Drink of the day varied from $8-$10.
  19. Thanks for this. However, after traveling last week without the kids on Liberty, we were pretty discouraged by what we saw as far as how the kids were being treated. We have a cruise scheduled for March, and our youngest will still be ineligible for vaccination - so we are likely to cancel unless protocols change. In addition to the perception of the 'dirty, dirty unvaccinated people' restrictions, in general the children on our cruise were looked on as lepers and with disgust by many of the other traveling guests - I will NOT be putting my children through that. We asked around to some of the moms on the ship with kids, and I was very disappointed to hear what the experience has been like for their kids. So, we'll wait.
  20. I was in Cozumel last week, and again next week. Everything is business as usual with some Covid stuff (mask in taxi, hand sanitizer at the beach club) - although the incident in Cancun yesterday and ongoing conflict in Tulum may be affecting what is being offered (when we were there 3 years ago, they cancelled all excursions requiring the ferry to the mainland because of the cartels bombing the ferries around that time) Last week we went to Nachi Cocom Beach Club (and planning to do that again next week) and it was LOVELY. Beautiful weather, water and beach. I feel very safe in Cozumel to go on an outside RC excursion. Exit the port, take a taxi (very regulated and safe, set price) and the beach club called us a taxi when we were ready to leave. In the past we also did the Jade Caverns ATV and Cenote swim - honestly we probably had higher expectations than we should of. We were looking forward to riding ATVs in the jungle - but mostly we just followed the guide at medium speed on a dirt road. BORING. I swam in the cenote just to say I did it. I won't do that one again. We've also done the glass bottom boat with the kids and that was cool. But short. Lots of time left in the day, so we put the kids in the Kids club and went into San Miguel for lunch and shopping. If you find an RC excursion that you like better after booking one already, you can always cancel your booking and rebook the new one.
  21. Sounds like they've got you sorted out with Diamond vouchers and Casino drinks, but if that weren't the case, I would run the numbers and just see if what you would drink added up to more or less than buying 2 packages. When you look at the actual cost versus what you alone are drinking, it probably makes sense to just forgo the package and just buy ala carte. On my last cruise, with my friend who only drinks wine at dinner, and *very* occasional cocktail, there was no sense in buying two packages. We brought her wine on board, she paid for her 1 or 2 cocktails and daily latte, and I paid as I went - and it definitely came out less than if I had bought 2 packages.
  22. What a relief! Thank you! yet another tick in the AWESOME box for Royal.
