  1. Capacity restrictions are mute point if 95% plus where to be vaccinated Along with this social distancing problem not to mentioned already proven touch points not transmitted any way but airborne
  2. only an .... would get on a ship sailing like that
  3. at this point sail for the ship not the ports
  4. then you should have no problem, I could see the concierge making those arrangement for you as long as your a little flexible. /enjoy - I will say I'm al little jealous that you having access to cold water lobster on the regular, but not enough to move there. Again enjoy your cruise, that we have in common
  5. Not sure the Suite concierge will be able to make any reservations for you since your only in a JS and do not have suite perks like the concierge. but I will defer to those that may know more than me
  6. Following the conversation on asking for MDR Lobster Tail in CK and just curios as our only GS's have been on Freedom Class ships so no CK, and on our JS on Oasis we could not even get in for dinner most nights. That sailing the Hostess told us we could only make dinner reservations for the current day and after the first 4 days of trying with only once having availability and that being a 8:30 or 9, can't remember now exactly, I just gave up going to see her every morning first thing. So I guess my actual question is the ambiance that much better in CK than to just go to the MDR for Lobster.
  7. We cruise a Christmas Day included cruise every other year for a lot of reasons. People will have various festive wear but some will be much more casual like on any other cruise. Some things to just be aware of. Expect lots and lots of kids, many more than even summer months, like always most are well behaved, but then there are some that .... additionally know that this is one of the top 3 Most expensive weeks for a cruise. We have really enjoyed our cruises that cover Christmas
  8. will wait patiently for your opinion, as they have been good solid, logical, fact driven and very informative. Thank you so much for investing the time to educate us.
  9. Agree, to me 95% vaccinated or 92% vaccinated does not mater much. I would be more concerned with having to wear masks while on the cruise.
  10. more than likely if is using Face Recognition software in concert with the video feeds
  11. like it when that 2nd and 3rd tail come out all alone on a plate. Once asked for more tails and each time the waiter brought a full plate with all the fixings.
  12. with the lack of cruises this year i wonder if they are still doing this? guess i can ask the concierge when we get on board.
  13. Royal is being more than generous here. This should be enough to satisfy everyone.
  14. I blame this on a failure of our federal government to act appropriately on the recommendations of the CDC. We should have had a Federal mandate to mask, not let each state develop a hodge podge of regulations. We should have made testing mandatory to fly domestically early on, we should now have a negative test result or proof of vaccination required to fly domestically today. The federal government should have followed the science, much like your right to smoke does not eclipse my right to clean air, that is why all federal buildings have a ban on smoking and it is restricted to not within 50 ft of any and all entrances on federal property. JMHO and you have a right to disagree
  15. I may have the dissenting opinion here, but unless I am mistaken @JSB_Z51 had the option when his April 2020 cruise was canceled to receive a full refund, but for whatever reason (price protection from increases, thinking it would all blow over) he elected to L&S ultimately kicking the can down the road, not knowing what would happen in the future. I understand as I kicked the can down the road also, the difference is I had not already made final payment. I did have flights arranged to the tune of 6K and never would have been able to use the credit voucher issued in each individuals name before it ran out, but with some luck the airline moved the departure of one leg more than the old requirement which are now ~4 hours (time of my ticket purchase) by more than an hour and I was able to get a full refund. I also flew into IAH the Friday before my Sunday departure that was canceled on the following day Saturday by Royal one day before sailing. Things happen and as much as I think insurance is mostly a rip off, its purpose is to offset costs you do not want to risk incurring or can't afford to incur. I think Royal has been more than fair with the way they have handled the changes required by the Covid pandemic. It would be each individuals decision I would say are in question
  16. Ok returning to Seattle on Ovation in august on a Friday. My original flight was to leave SEA at 1:37 and I was good with that time. AA just bumped the departure time from SEA to 12:03 (noon) next possible flight it a 3:30ish. I know this is the Covid era so who knows, but in the past would the 12:03 flight be cutting it to close. Should i already have private transportation arranged to get me to the airport or will normal procedures be OK. We do tend to leave the ship early under normal circumstances. Opinions and past experiences appreciated
  17. We found something we agree on, well said. I can also see them doing away with free drinks in the diamond lounge from this point on as a permanent plan. Don't know if the will change the amount of drinks on card or not. Remember a few years back when they were on certain cruises swiping cards in Diamond Lounge for every drink you got, have to believe they were gathering data to make some decision.
  18. NFL minimum salary this year is an even $660,000. Of course, players will lose some of that through taxes, agent fees, and so forth. that is minimum, but over half of NFL players make less than a million and their average earnings last about 3 years. within the next 5-10 years it is also noted that about ~70% of all NFL players will file bankruptcy in the next 5 to 10 years. And remember if the NFL wants to play hardball the EEOC and Federal Courts have already ruled that employers are allowed to condition employment on vaccination status.
  19. that and the size room with full tub with shower, sometime i wish i had never had my wife in anything other than an inside room. Just recently booked into a GS albeit for my 65th, now she asks when I mention a cruise "are we getting a suite" and i know she aint talkin a JS either
  20. I would venture to say highly doubt it, when you look at how the suites are selling out. That was Royals goal to spur on bookings prior to sailing actually getting underway, and now it looks like the demand is much higher than maybe expected. But that is just my opinion
  21. Helps to know what ship you are on, because that determines what Specialty restaurants are available. But basically the UDP allows you to eat in any of the specialty restaurants whenever they are open, ie lunch is only served in some of them and then only on sea days, never on port days. Know that most if not all the time you have to have reservations to get in, there are a few exceptions, when you might be able to walk up and get in, mainly lunch or breakfast. Reservations are able to be made on board, unless in a suite. You can go to any dining venue, that is manned one you board to make reservations, they can even be made at the main dining room if the Maitre D is there
  22. I agree with your statement 100%. The best vaccine is the one YOU actually get.
  23. we shall see soon enough when some more sailing actually take place.
  24. @JeffB based on the statement from Royal i am lead to believe that the crew did get the J&J one shot vaccine. One shot and considered fully vaccinated 14 days later. The shortest time frame from any approved in the US 2 shot vacine is 21 days between shots and 14 days later to be considered fully vaccinated. "Here is the full statement from a Royal Caribbean spokesperson: Out of an abundance of caution, we are postponing Odyssey of the Seas’ first sailings from July 3 until July 31, 2021. The simulation cruise, originally scheduled for late June, will also be rescheduled. During routine testing, eight crew members received a positive test result for COVID-19. All 1,400 crew on board Odyssey were vaccinated on June 4 and will be considered fully vaccinated on June 18. These positive cases were identified after the vaccination was given but before they were fully effective. "
