  1. We love the Bionic Bar! It’s just good fun to watch the robots do their thing. You can make up your own drink, something you can’t really do at a normal bar. It can even save the recipe for you. It’s not that we went there every time or anything but 2-3 times on a 7 night cruise was a lot of fun to do. Kids love it, that’s for sure!
  2. Bingo on our April Anthem cruise was $29.99 for three games. The prizes were decent, like $350, 650, may be the last was $1000. They held it in 270 so fit a lot of players, which likely helped the prize pool. I saw a cruise video you tube vide saying it was $50 for three cards. It’s a Vlog on Liberty so probably more accurate
  3. There's one in the American Icon dining room on Anthem of the Seas!
  4. Some are just way too long and when they are frequent/ very active members is gets tedious. Agree most are helpful, even entertaining but some are just poor netiquette.
  5. That’s a game changer! Thanks very much for pointing that out. Just resolved 1 of my top 5 pet peeves and frustrations on this forum.
  6. We were on Anthem in April and really didn’t see any service issues either. Always someone asking if we needed a drink, restaurants were all open and staffed, room cleaned, etc.
  7. I know are all always anxious to board as soon as possible, but has anyone tried waiting until later to avoid the crowds? Thinking for our next cruise, may be show up closer to the end of the embarkation times then the start… could be less stressful?
  8. IMHO: The best thing you can do is watch YouTube videos made by talented bloggers that have sailed that ship. There are ship tours, and multi episode vlogs.
  9. Yes. It’s the same ones we took for our April cruise on Anthem.
  10. It covers the initial start up, how they funded the venture, merging with Admiral, many challenges and successes. I’d watch it again if I could! I watched all the entertainment Chanel shows. Didn’t feel like I was in the cabin all that much but saw a lot. Especially like the Cruise Director Joff and the whole every body love a meerkat silliness!
  11. Last month on Anthem, the TV in our cabin played a two part documentary on the history of the cruise line. Has anyone else watched this? I probably saw the whole thing 2-3 times and found it fascinating. My wife thinks I’m crazy for watching it (especially more than once), anyone else that crazy?
  12. When you drive in they direct you to luggage drop off, then direct you to the garage. Smooth, easy process. We were very impressed at every step of our embarkation at Cape Liberty.
  13. Agreed! We purchased 5 for the 4 of us and had TWO that were missing the swabs and could not be used. What might be the worst part is they only sent us ONE replacement! Not that we need them now ( post cruise) but we paid for 5…
  14. We won Progressive Trivia on Anthem last week and did get a trophy!
  15. We just sailed from Bayonne/Port Liberty and the experience was awesome. Dropping the bags off with a porter, parking in the garage, boarding that whole process was fluid. We never waited, never stood on line. After parking, we were on the ship in less than 15 minutes. Debarkation was almost as good. Slight delay getting the car over to the baggage pick up, may be 10 mins tops. It exceeded all expectations.
  16. I'm surprised as well. Seems like you can buy a lot of medications with no prescription in other countries which always made me think they were more lenient... I'm curious why some are banned - do they know something we don't????
  17. Yup, mine says the same thing. We did just purchase the Next Cruise Book Later program on Saturday aboard the Anthem...otherwise we have nothing currently booked, certainly nothing over 16 years out!
  18. The CDC has info on this (they're not just for Covid anymore!) Traveling Abroad with Medicine | Travelers' Health | CDC From the article: Check with the foreign embassy of the country you will be visiting or passing through to make sure your medicines are permitted in that country. Be aware that many countries only allow taking a 30-day supply of certain medicines and require the traveler to carry a prescription or a medical certificate. If your medicine is banned at your destination, talk with your health care provider about alternative medicine or destination options, and have your doctor write a letter describing your condition and the treatment plan. The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) provides general information about country regulations for travelers carrying medicines that are made with controlled substances. It’s important to note that INCB may not have information from all countries or territories. Make an appointment with a travel medicine specialist or your health care provider to get needed vaccines and medicines at least 4 to 6 weeks before you leave. If you plan to be gone for more than 30 days, talk to your doctor about how you can get enough medicine for your trip. Sometimes insurance companies will pay for only a 30-day supply at a time. Ask your doctor about any changes to taking your medicine once you’re in a different time zone. Medicines should be taken according to the time since your last dose, not the local time of day. Ask how to safely store medicine and check whether it needs refrigeration. Keep in mind that extreme temperatures can reduce the effectiveness of many medicines.
  19. We have two replacements (from the two that were missing swabs and couldn't be used...) that they sent us while we were already on our cruise! If anyone is looking to save a few bucks, I'd ship them anywhere in the US for 1/2 of the price of a single test. Might be a good back-up, wish we'd had more than 6 for the 4 of us...
  20. We had No Quarter (Led Zeppelin cover band) and Beatles Celebration on our Anthem cruise that ended today. Both were really good! Never thought I’d like a tribute band but I have to admit I enjoyed both.
  21. I’ve been downloading movie and tv shows to watch when traveling for years. No need for an internet connection, guaranteed to work, just delete when you’re done with it. Can’t get a sporting event that happens after you leave home, but for shows and movies it works every time. Worth a try if you just want some stuff to watch to fill time.
  22. Yes we do tip above an beyond the pre-paid gratuities. Having worked a decent part of my life in the service industry, I always tip better than average/expected. I divided the pre-paid numbers across what I thought it would cost to stay in a nice hotel, eating in restaurants, etc. Lets just say that the numbers came out below 10% and I'd be the worst tipper ever. The beauty of tipping on board is that it improves the already fantastic service, and for so little money. Giving the room steward $20 on embarkation day will pay off for the duration of the cruise. Tipping bartenders and waiters will only make them even more attentive. The crew is away from their families for months at a time just trying and earn a living and provide, and I am sure none of them are getting rich doing so. A few bucks here and there isn't a huge expense for me, but it may make a very big difference in their lives. It's just the right thing to do.
  23. We purchased 5 Binax test for our cruise Sunday. There are 4 of us, we thought having an extra might be a good idea. We were right. My test went fine. My wife opened the second for her test and it was missing the swab, good thing we had the spare, right? WRONG, the next one is also missing the swab! Now we have to scramble to find an appointment for one of or sons to take their text,. Amazing that 2 of 5 were "defective", especially for what they charge! Another hurdle to get over so we can board in 2 days.
  24. I think it's the sense of entitlement that bothers me most about the way some people conduct themselves in these types of situations. If you have reached a certain status, you should reap the benefits of that, but it doesn't give you the right to treat staff poorly, or to expect to be favored/prioritized over other guests (meaning above and beyond the documented benefits).
