  1. I and the fiance have done the post shopping tourist stuff more than enough but her teens might like picking some stuff out. They ha=ve a Del Sol there with the tee shirts that change colors and other trinkets they may like...
  2. Doing Dunns River and Tubing Excursion when we get to Falmouth on Indy... Question is,... Is there enough time to do a little port shopping when we get back from tour?
  3. I'm actually preferring a lanyard... Seeing wrist ones but would prefer a neck one...
  4. Looking on line and so many choices for waterproof bag for I phone 6s that I'm confused. Any firsthand intel on which by brand are good or bad?
  5. In roughly twenty years I have never seen do it your self on RCL. Other lines yes but not on any of the RCL cruises I have been on... Could you have it mixed up?
  6. Gonna make up some "silver" ones for those that havn't sailed yet and sell them outside the terminal... ?
  7. Well I'm the other way... I grabbed a post it and a pen wrote "GOLD C+A" on it and proudly rub everyone's nose in it! ? Actually kind of sad that my old days time in suites was treated so poorly. less than a point a day or I'd be a proud Platinum... Work schedules during my career didn't allow much time for cruising and I had spent a lot of time on other lines before I found RCL... I'm loyal to them even if they aren't so much... I am on a mission to get to diamond as soon as plausible...
  8. Seems odd to kill their only 7 day sailing of a popular ship for some shorty that disrupts three other sailings as well... Oh well...
  9. Reading over there that some are being offered (and accepting the nov 19 date) while others aren't being offered it at all. Whats really off is that Nov 19th falls right in the time slot that would have been Nov 14-21... and 21-26
  10. I can see benefits in some of the perks for some when its over an year out. They aren't offering much this time. 50 a person and only 200 for non refundable air. Some of the dates fall on noting. Some however fall on holidays that families planned around (veterans day, thanksgiving)... I'm hearing of 4th or even 5th cancellations and then new sail dates for open boat inside the cancelled date windows? Lot of it I'm sure is rumor and misinformation but its confusing at best if in fact they are opening new open sail dates in the "chartered" windows...
  11. I've seen one here and one there but three full weeks and maybe more? Then some were being offered dates that would be right in the middle of the other cancelled weeks? For example one being offered on Nov 19th which would be right in the middle of the 14-21st cancellation... This is certainly weird... At least 12,000 inconvenienced... They are only offering $200 for lost airfares which doesn't come close...
  12. For me they gave me 14 points for two. One was 7 days and one was 8 but both in suites... Would have been 30 points just for those two... Really should have started my quest for diamond at Platinum...
  13. Over on a social media giant, the Independence of the Sea group came to life with a number of cancellations? Last count was at least three B2B trips involved. Saying they were chartered? Nov.9, 14, 21 guests have been notified and rumors of others into Dec... That puts at least 12,000 guests into having to find other trips or cancel... Pretty inconvenient and compensation being offered is coming up short. Any idea what is going on???
  14. The calculations today are straightforward. I really wish they had applied same to older cruises. I used to travel in suite when I was a married and with my daughter. They only awarded single points to all my old stuff... Only a few points difference but enough to represent a level difference... Not the end of the world but slows me from getting to my diamond goal some. Oh well...
  15. It appears that the tensions are subsiding. Peace through strength prevailing. Not all the way out of the woods but significantly better. Last nights deliberate "missing" signifies that Tehran is not really interested in getting into a fight they can't win. I'm hoping those that will be going through the affected areas have wonderful relaxing cruises...
  16. I think the best thing is to take a deep breath. Iran has been saber rattling since 1979... Recent years they have behaved badly a few times with no response. When they killed American citizens last week they crossed a line and were spanked. They tried our embassy. Guess what? We have a less tolerant president than Obama this time and we repelled it. We saw opportunity to take out a terrorist who was responsible for thousands of deaths over the years going back to Beirut 1983. We did just that. Ok, they are jumping up and down and screaming but they lack the tools to mount a real offensive. For that matter I don't see that they have the tools to defend either. I see the word "escalation" used here ... I prefer to look at it as a few uncomfortable moments ending a war before it gets started... It has not gone well for any country to push too hard against the coalition. I have a hunch that their survival instinct will outweigh their desire to continue their little tantrum. Peace through a show of force if you will. Remain vigilant and follow advice from your respective countries as to the safety of passage through questionable waters. Also bear in mind RCL does have your best interest as their best interest. I don't think they have any intention of serving up billion dollar ships into arms way either. For those impacted. I wish you well and sober decisions will be made to answer your questions.
  17. All I noticed was all the things I put in my cart on the planner went up considerably before I pushed the checkout button... Just sent them to the forget it bin and booked excursions second party...
  18. It will become second nature... This blog site we are on is very helpful...
  19. Cococay- Most anything is fun. Snorkel. Jet ski. I'm not much on water park stuff but the park there is world class. Cozumel we found a little chocolate factory (not the excursion one) (https://kaokaochocolatefactorytour.com/) that was very informative. Port itself very busy. Costa Maya- Chachoben ruins are about an hour away. There was a beach area with quaint little shops and restaurants maybe 10 minutes taxi ride from the port. Port itself also busy. Roatan- World class snorkeling.
  20. We're on board with that "meet us at X o'clock to get ready and do dinner". Then cut em loose when done. Let em run and feel a little Independence ?. In general I have been very pleased with the youth and teen programs through my natural daughter and now my GF's teens. Prior to her daughters last cruise we had a lot of positive feedback about that ships program. Hoping to find same here... I know its a crap shoot. Some trips have seemed almost void of teens while others just right. This trip will be over Easter so I'm expecting (hoping) there is a large group to interact with...
  21. Never had a fee for wine we brought to the room. They even gave us a corkscrew and glasses. I can't say what the policy is in the restaurants but think I have heard of a fee there...
  22. My GF and I have a new favorite ship. Independence ... While we have had her daughter aboard other ship . Neither she or her brother have been aboard Indy... The daughter did great in the teen club on the other smaller Majesty. Well she gets a shot at the bigger time this next trip and her brother gets to taste his first cruise ever. The plan for them is to cut them loose and let them be a little more free. . I did that with my natural daughter several times and GF's daughter on Majesty with fantastic results. Really boosts their self esteem and confidence to be treated with a little more respect and adult like... Guess my question here is ... Do we have any onn here with first hand experience with Independence's teen activities and any suggestions or concerns... ???
  23. I cut my little one loose in the Adventure ocean clubs early on. After divorce and new GF with two more she was skeptical but very pleased . As they ventured into full teen years the nights out got later but it was clean wholesome fun. Gave them a feeling that we respected them enough to let them manage themselves and take on a little responsible behavior.
  24. Great... Thanks as always for the answers... Great people make this a fantastic place to visit and garner info from. We have had my GF's daughter on a 3 day on Majesty a couple years ago. She'll likely flip when she sees a much larger Indy... My GF's son has never even seen a cruise ship except from miles away looking at port of New York. He has no concept. He'll point at a five story building "That big"? "Three times as tall and longer than from here to the stop light at the end of the street"... My mission is to show them trips of a lifetime... ?
