  1. Been a while since I was thinking along these lines but was wondering of RCL had a "Catalog" of excursions at the different ports? It might inspire me into doing even more booking of I knew what was out there to interest me in new destinations and expanded itinerary lists... The way it is I "guess" at a port (If I havn't been there before) then only get to see excursion options after I book...
  2. I have found no better substitute than multiple calls directly to RCL... I find that most are futile. Then after a few I stumble on a rep that is actually well enough versed in "situations" to get it corrected. Sometimes this is on call #4 or call #10 but eventually I have found people each time that are competent and caring...
  3. I'd be better off LHR to EWR or maybe JFK then to PBU. I know the flights to Orlando can be cheap but that leaves me in a lurch trying to get back to Palm Beach... I have a house 40 minutes from "Cape Liberty" that I often stay at for the summer for my often seasonal work...
  4. Again thats at state level. Ports are primarily Fed. Then as mentioned not so sure the state would have a say in operations of an international company. I would think the state would be flexible if push came to shove. . After all they have be the ones suing to get CDC off our back and to bypass Canada on the Alaska Sailings... This thing is so fluid that there are no answers until such time as RCL , CDC and or state of Florida make something official.
  5. In some of the notices I read today, it is noted that we can "explore" the ports on our own... I know Cozumel is begging for people...
  6. One block up from Bay Street on a line from where the horse carriages are is a pharmacy....
  7. Undecided on air... Through other means I tried , I saw insane expense going from Southampton to Palm Beach. Broke it down Train or Bus from Southampton to London. London to Newark was dirt cheap and I know I can snag dirt cheap Newark to Palm Beach... Fiance' has me hung up on pulling the trigger as she's adding loads of stuff in London. I was planning just a day but she wants one to shop at Harrods, then one to ride horses in Hyde Park (I didn't know that was a "thing"). Maybe the wax museum or Piccadilly?
  8. It was one they changed ship, date and itinerary on... Original was nicer ship. Original had better itinerary. Original fit both kids school vacation dates. This one just the boy. He will get to bring a buddy and they will have the time of their lives... and that will make me smile. Plus it will even the score with his sister who had her "own" trip a couple years ago. I know Nassau real well so its not a total loss and will find things to do for the boys ....
  9. I would plan for day after disembark... We travel light. Cary on with small back pack covers us pretty much. Would no doubt need to tote jackets for cool weather as one slight difference. I've done a load of London time but would like a leisurely visit . Stop off at Harrods... The short run flights from Southampton looked pretty pricy ($280 each for one way). Train and a quick visit seems to settle with me best... When I looked at Balconies they were double of the OV and this one as mentioned is an after thought. Practice run... I'll likely get serious with a med trip doing a b2b with a return TA for my "Real one"... Trans pacific will be a one shot get it right thing... I have Bora Bora and Tahiti on my bucket list for that... As for time changes. I used to bounce back and forth between Florida and South Africa with some side trips to Mauritius... So those were like 8 and 5 hour jumps... I'm jut fine with them.
  10. Up coming bookings are wow! and ehhh... Not practical to back out of the "ehhh" one pretty well "stuck" with it. Been looking for something different to add and keep me hyped up. Had planned a couple years from now to do a nice Trans Atlantic. Seeing one now thats talking to me, Not as long as the others. I don't wind up in some amazing Med setting on this one. Instead cool and damp Southampton, England. Kind of a "practice" for a longer fancier one.... Thinking just Oceanview as I would think that spring in north Atlantic , wouldn't be best weather for Balcony, and again a Practice" TA. Thoughts? Ship is Anthem. Used to see her regular basis while fishing in New Jersey and impressive machine. Not worried there. Any input? Started digging around at some details. Southampton to Palm Beach air fare showed insane. I'm pretty good at getting point A to point B. Looked up London Heathrow to Newark and dirt cheap. Can find dirt cheap also Newark to Palm Beach also... This sound right or should I look at air to sea? So what would be best way to get from Southampton to London?... Bus or maybe Train? Would be kinda cool to do train... Other input??? Inspire me!
  11. Exploring like a kid in a candy store. I want every inch of that ship in my memory banks. On land if I walk in a building I really don't take the time to explore my surroundings and lucky if I can navigate in and out without needing directions. That and neat freak in the cabin... Small space thing I guess. At home I'm lucky if I can find my desk or bed under the mountains of junk...
  12. I hang my head in shame but I did the nasty and went on one... Its a younger party hardy crowd for sure and that was what drew me in when I was still drinking... Most aboard seemed to be on that same track. Out by the pools was absurdly loud DJ's and or bands. I don't remember much about the food as I was more or less plowed when I steeped on... I have to be fair though that a lot of Royal quickies I have been on have had touch of that trailer park feel as well. Not as much but some... A 3 day from Canaveral on Majesty comes to mind that I recall vividly. I havn't done a long one on Carnival so I cant say.... Royal, I will say runs a cleaner better ship...
  13. With so much of the particulars in this being months old including the mask link and others, you may well be on to something here... Can't put my finger on it but this thing seems dated and isn't right... Again, things are so fluid what ever is today, likely wont be a few days from now...
  14. Reading through the "mask order" contained within and linked to by todays order...... dated January... Lots changed since then... Then we have 6 feet when CDC recently reduced to 3 feet?... Did they go back to 6 or is this all old stuff that hasn't updated? I'm not sure... I will wait for RCL to hand me definite protocols when sailing time comes before I have a hissy over any of this....
  15. I don't see that all the rules especially the draconian ones apply to "all" the cruises. I do see where it is applied to the test ones but do not see in the wording that it all applies to all...
  16. I'm thinking the simulated is the virtual ones in the line up that are run when all pieces are in place for relations to land based stuff such as quarantine facilities, testing sights, transport to home, checked in, etc. Pretty sure the "restricted" is the test cruises themselves the ones that actually go out with 10% + of capacity for minimum over night, with cdc observing etc. I have not been able to digest all 291 pages of the most recent stuff to see if these draconian mask and other "protocols" are for voyages going forward. So far I find that they are indeed in effect for the "test cruises" but not others...
  17. What was released today isn't the cso. Its a tech manual for simulated and test cruises.
  18. Read that again slowly and carefully. Technical instructions for the "Trial" voyages in "Advance".
  19. What was issued today really isn't the cso. Its the details of 2b which is the testing... Not the sailing.
  20. Saw it someplace in todays paperwork . That and how to get the people home.
  21. I think once again we are too jumpy. This stuff is for the 2b part... The TEST Sailings... You're missing that much of this stuff we are exempt from this with the 98/95 ends met on several ships. I'm not seeing that any of this is set in stone for future sailings. Again the test sailings prior to taking paying . For paying and only AFTER the test sailings there I'm sure a whole different set of protocols... This is no surprise... It was made clear that there are TWO Paths going forward and you're getting twisted about this one being the test sailings and all the EXTRA measures being taken... Its a different set of rules for the 98/95 runs and all these rules are subject to changing several times before July... I'm vacced and have a box of masks if need be. I don't give a poo. My plan is to be top deck waving bye bye to those on land who couldn't be inconvenienced when the time comes.
  22. I'm thinking that the "throttling" of passenger numbers won't be done as an "after thought". Pretty sure they are sand bagging availability at the reservation level. On accepting so many bookings at this time. I've been seeing a number of listings just disappear recently. I assume that is a result of being at the "sold out level" for that sailing. I'm seeing certain classes and cabin locations on other sailings showing sold out. I again think that means sold out for the reduced capacity numbers. Not over all.
