  1. I felt that way for two weeks after getting off a 5 night cruise last summer. It just went away on its own.
  2. Thanks all! The RC excursion dropped to $78 per person with the Black Friday discount, so I went for it. I wouldn't usually book an excursion for something we could potentially do on our own, but with such a short time window, and the price only being about $20 more per person than doing it on our own (without even figuring in the cost of a Lyft or Uber), I figured it was worth it.
  3. Thank you! Just got my soda package for $6.50 per day on next summer's Oasis sailing. That's $2.50 less per person per day than I had paid initially, or $35 less total. I'll take it! Cue cancel and re-book. Win!
  4. And does PC54 (KSC Afternoon Areival) include admission? If it does it seems like a good deal to skip lines and get round trip transport. With only two of us in my party it seems like almost the same price as Lyft + regular admission.
  5. Hello! Our Oasis cruise out of NJ stops in Port Canaveral, and arrival time is listed as 1 PM, departure at 9:00 PM. My husband is an earth science teacher who hasn't been to Kennedy Space Center in 35 years (so he's a science guy, but has done the Space Center once before, albeit a long time ago), and I'm just casually interested in all things space, etc. What is our best option for seeing the major hits/best of the Space Center with such a late arrival? The Royal Caribbean excursions don't seem to be THAT much more than the cost of admission to the space center itself, so I'm wondering if they're worth it since we won't have much time. Anyone have any insight or experience in hitting the highlights of KSC with an afternoon arrival? Thanks ?
  6. We did North Star when docked overnight in Bermuda and gave us a really cool view of the whole island. I would try to schedule it for a port day right before the all aboard. You’ll have great views!
  7. I am super frugal, and even I think parking at the port in cape liberty is worth it. We are about an hour and ten minutes from the port, and an hour and thirty minutes after leaving our house, we were sitting at cafe 270 having lunch. Leaving was equally as easy.
  8. Do the giant abyss slides in the aft of these ships block the partial ocean view that the aft boardwalk view balcony staterooms may have? I’m considering a BW balcony stateroom on the oasis next summer, and I’d love to be able to see a sliver of ocean, but once Oasis comes back from refurb, I think she’ll have those big slides like the other ships in her class. Can you still sneak an ocean glimpse from some of the far aft boardwalk balcony rooms? Thanks!
  9. We were on your cruise too! 1. We did the WJ both sea days for lunch and found it didn’t get crowded until about 12 or 12:30. We skipped a big breakfast on sea days in favor of a big lunch, and did the WJ before noon both sea days. It wasn’t empty, but I imagine it’s as empty as it gets. On embarkation day we had sandwiches at Cafe 270 which was empty at 11:30. 2. I couldn’t get reservations for ifly or North Star before getting on the ship but had no problem once on board on embarkation day at the iPads in the shore excursion area. We did North Star around 6:00 the first day we were docked in Bermuda and the view of the island was neat, even though the weather was overcast. 3. We also did horseshoe bay the second day. We got to the beach a little before 9 AM via minibus as well, and had the place to ourselves for an hour or so. It got crowded fast, so it was nice to have a few empty beach pictures. We left by 1:45 so as to avoid any crowds headed back to the ship and to have time to buy our kids some souvenirs in the dockyard area. We took bottled waters that we had brought from home and muffins from Cafe Promenade to snack on the beach. We ate at the WJ beforehand so we didn’t have to hike to the beach bar at horseshoe bay and buy food there. 4. On our first day in Bermuda we took the ferry to St George on the opposite side of the island and explored the area, and walked to two beaches - one of which (St Catherine’s) we had completely to ourselves. We enjoyed the cruise, but found that when we were off the ship we wanted to be as far away from crowds of people as possible, so going to the far side of the island helped us accomplish this. Glad you had a good time! We had a lot of fun too. It was my husbands first cruise, and only my third, and we both said we’d definitely do another. We loved the ease of driving to and parking at Cape Liberty.
  10. Thanks! We tipped the guys $1 for each of us (we were only 2), bc we got nervous and weren’t sure. Ha. Thanks for all the Bermuda advice! We had a great two days here and are just getting ready for sail away! Got to Horseshoe around 8:45 and left around 1:45. A wonderful time to avoid the masses in both directions.
  11. Help! Do I tip the $7 minibus driver? I’m on one right now. Lol.
  12. I was listening to the podcast today as I was running and I heard a listener thank Matt for his info on adding cruise credits from cruises WAY in the past. Through a quick email to C & A I was able to add a sailing from 2005 that I took as a 21 year old to my C & A account! They even said I could add my 1989 Song of Norway sailing if I could produce any documentation from that cruise (Other than photos I don’t think I can, but it’s possible I have an aunt who can). They said they only have files on sailings 1997 and later. Anyway. I always considered myself a first time cruiser bc it’s my first time cruising as an adult this month, but it turns out I already have tons (ha) of cruise points. Thanks Matt and listener!
  13. I went on the Song of Norway in 1989...I was 6 years old. Omg is this ship still around??
  14. Wow, thank you! Looks like I stumbled upon something good. It would appear I have 6 one way bus or ferry tickets? Thank you!
  15. I saw that. A quick google image search told me nothing about the tickets. I’ll shoot my friend an email before we leave. If they are valid, I assume we can literally head right to the ferry dock. They are definitely yellow/orange in color. I’m wondering though, if they’re actually 14 zone bus tickets from a booklet. Even though she said they were ferry tickets.
  16. Thanks! I guess I’ll bring them and maybe I’ll be able to tell better when I get there. The coworker who gave them to me moved to Florida at the end of the school year, so I didn’t have time to ask questions! do I need cash for the ferry/bus tickets, or can I used a credit card? Thanks again.
  17. Thank you! I read your anthem trip report from last year (it was great btw!) and your st. George adventure seemed perfect. On another note. Do you know what these are? A coworker who used to have business/property in Bermuda gave these to me when she was packing up her classroom at the end of the school year, and said, “these are Bermuda ferry tickets. Maybe you can use them.” But I have no idea if they are valid and what ferry they are for.
  18. My husband and I are going on our first cruise together next month - a 5 day on Anthem to Bermuda, so we'll have 2 days on the island. We've been busy and traveling a lot in the past 6 weeks, so I'm just now getting around to doing some serious planning for our time there. It's our first time in Bermuda, and we mostly just want to check out the beaches. Any opinions of the best way to spend two days in Bermuda relaxing on the beach? From what I've already read, it seems like if we're going to do Horseshoe Bay, we should go on day 2, which is fine, but what's the best place (or places) to go on day one? We don't mind taking public transportation of any kind, and walking is fine. Thanks!
  19. Public school teacher here. We do get a nice chunk of time off - problem is that it's all at once in the summer, or in smaller chunks like Christmas and Easter when it's SO expensive to travel. This summer our last day was June 21st and we go back on August 20th, so I guess I get around 8 weeks "vacation," although most teachers work part or most of that time. I used to spend about 6 of those weeks working, but now that I have kids, I stay home with them in the summer and tutor in the evenings to make extra cash. Any time in the summer that my husband isn't working summer camp (about 3 weeks) we travel, but we try to bookend our travel so that the kids or we don't get tired of travel, and so my husband and I can work (to pay for that travel!) We try to do a trip in June as soon as school gets out, and another trip in early to mid August before we go back. My husband and I always talk about how we wish our state would move to a year round school model so we could travel at different times of year!
  20. That is so crazy! My husband is afraid of heights, and if I remember correctly from when I was a teen, the crown and the walk up there were uncomfortable and underwhelming. So we’d skip that anyway. But thank you!
  21. Hello! My husband and I are cruising on Anthem next month. I grew up about an hour and a half from the port, so as a child I frequently visited NYC, did the Statue of Liberty, etc. My husband on the other hand, didn't grow up so close, and he's never done the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island. We both have relatives who came over from Italy/Greece via Ellis Island, so I think visiting one or both places would be cool. I've also never visited either place as an adult. We'll be driving to Bayonne and parking our car at the port. Has anyone ever disembarked and then done the Statue of Liberty and/or Ellis Island? I haven't been there since I was about 13. Do you still park your car somewhere in NJ, hop on a ferry, and do it that way? I imagine the ferry and its parking are pretty close to Bayonne. We might just want to get back to our kids after 5 days away, but we also might want to extend things a bit, so it might be a game time decision - which I'm not sure would work out if we need to make reservations to get to either island.
  22. Exactly what I was thinking. A lot of the reviews seems mixed - some people seem to have gotten right on a shuttle, while others complained of 45 minute waits. At least it's something to consider.
  23. Wow, thanks for this! I would only save $40 over on site parking for my 5 night cruise in August. But $40 is $40, so I might go for it. It's just my husband and I traveling, so not much luggage. I've never cruised out of Port Liberty. Anyone think the $40 I'd save would be worth it to park offsite?
