Symphony is a fantastic ship for the Unlimited Dining Package.  If I were you, I'd for sure do the UDP for one leg and CK for the other leg!

@Matt, not sure if this is even something the site can offer, but any chance you could implement a Dark Mode visual display that users could select as an alternate to the current display? I use Dark Mode with everything on my computer, and have come to appreciate the reduction in eye strain it offers (especially at night). Put a poll as part of this topic to gauge general interest.

Thank you for the details and photos, they are excellent and really appreciate you taking the time. I am so pumped for the upcoming cruise and the corner balcony will certainly allow for great viewing of all the new ports of call we will experience. I am sure we will be so tired from all the port days and activities, that we would sleep through any party noise. Also we would have Kraken rum as our back up plan, so all good.

We stayed in one of the middle cabins, 7154.  I looked over my periscopes from the sailing and the only negative to that cabin location is that the balcony was always very wet, and we couldn't go out there until the warmth of the sun dried everything up.  What we did about that, mid-way through the trip was get fresh pool towels in the evening, lay them out on the chairs, then remove them in the morning & drop them back off at the pool.  We did have a bit of ash from the smoke stacks, but the cabin attendant wiped everything down when he could.  We loved the extended balcony so we had extra cover over our heads.
Deck 6 has an extended cover, so when you look directly down from deck 7 you see white, not the ocean.  You have to look out to see the wake. Not sure how much of that is a problem on the corner cabins.
Grandeur was definitely a crew party ship when we sailed her, and at night we could hear the parties going on below, both in port & at sea.  I haver periscopes from my cabin where you could hear the late night music.  I'm sure the crew will be different, so may or may not be an issue.  But they partied until the wee hours of the morning a couple nights, and we sang along to happy birthday from our balcony one evening!  ?

I will caution that some deck 7 aft cabins sit above the deck 6 lounge.  At times you will hear the thump thump of music events in the lounge.  The noise never bothered me.  I'd gladly stay in these cabins again.  However if you are sensitive to noise and this sort of thing bothers you be aware.  It was mostly evening noise, never late night on my sailing and I wasn't in my cabin except to pop in to grab something before leaving again to do something outside of my cabin.
This should be slightly less of a factor on Grandeur at least for 7150 due to the location of the Diamond Lounge directly under 7150.  On Enchantment the DL is up and away on deck 12 leaving the port side aft cabins directly above the deck 6 lounge.  JS 7154 on Grandeur straddles the DL and lounge below so I would expect this to be more of a factor for 7154 compared to 7150.

CruisingOz got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in Intrastate cruises will most likely kick off Australia's cruising resumption, whenever that might be...
I have my fingers crossed crusing will restart soon in Australia but until the vaccine is rolled out, there is still too much political gameship, especially from the Queensland government, and the WA government is well away from any sensible decisions. At the drop of a hat, with only a case or two, the state boarders get shut and with all the negative, bias press; cruising start up will be a challenge. I just hope that when March 17th travel ban comes round, there is a plan to allow Australians to travel overseas and a roll out of controlled crusing to restart. Royal still has Ovation, Radiance and Spectrum in Asia, and with the Alaska season in jeopardy, this might be the perfect scenario for Australian cruising to restart early. We are luck we are not effected by laws such as the Jones and PVS Act's
I really hope Alaska goes ahead, for the sake of their economy, and all the small business that rely on the seasonal trade. Also my cruise from Honolulu to Sydney on the Ovation in September might still be a chance, slim, but still a chance.
Anyway, Australia is certainly in a great position to follow Singapore's lead and prove it can be done, and I for one will do my best to be on that first cruise with a Kraken in hand and tear's of joy.

CruisingOz got a reaction from Andy & Sheryl Unwin in Snorkel mask for those with spectacles
    Hello Guys,
I wear glasses, and I have found the cheapest option was to visit a local dive shop who sell masks which are made to be able to click on lenses onto the from of the mask lens. The beauty of these is that if your prescription changes you can simply clip on a new lens. My right eye is different to my left and so able to mix and match lens. They generally come in 0.5 increments. They are quite durable, I use them for diving and snorkelling, and mine are about three years old.
There was an option where I could have glass lens ground and fitted into the mask, but they were very expensive and as a seasonal user, the clip on lens are great, highly recommend them.

CruisingOz reacted to SPS in Worried there are no shore excursions listed?
    Hey, @CruisingOz, just an FYI.
I've had previous bookings that have added more excursion options closer to the sail date.
For example, last January, we were looking to do something in San Juan at the end of the cruise and were finding very limited offerings (We had a late afternoon flight) At around 3-4 months out, more options became available that included airport drop off (Perfect!).
Of course, take this info with a grain of salt right with the situation we face right now.

Just to expand a bit on the feedback from @WAAAYTOOO, there are a couple extra ways to do this:
If you don’t want to quote the whole post, just click and drag your mouse over the part you want to quote, then click the “quote selection” button that appears if you want to quote multiple posts in a single reply, click the “+” button on each post to do a multi-quote, then click the button for Multi-Quote to start your reply. If you just want to mention someone without fully quoting them, you can type the “@“ character followed by their screen name. Click on the name that comes up in a pop up to finish the “mention”, then type your reply like normal.

I'm not Matt, but hopefully I can help you.
If you want to reply to a specific posting within a topic, you use the "quote" function.
Using your post above as an example,

If you click on "quote", you will be responding only/specifically to that post.  If you just enter a reply in the "Reply to Topic" you will just get a generic reply at the bottom of all of the other posts.  It sounds like you are trying to do a "quote" and reply to a specific posting.  Eventually you will learn that you can quote multiple different postings within 1 reply; you can also edit the part of the post that you are quoting so that, if it is a long post and you are only interested in highlighting a part of the post, you can delete everything that is not applicable to your response.
Not a silly question at all.  It took me a long time to figure out how to quote !  Hope this helps.

Royal's intent and desire is to operate the cruise as you have booked it.  It's very disruptive to their business as well as your vacation to have to move a ship to another region and cancel cruises.
Having said that in the case of Radiance her transit through the Panama Canal so that she can be in the Atlantic has been placed into question by the CDC here in the US who has banned cruises longer than 7 days through Nov. 1, 2021.  Radiance was scheduled to transit in October after the Alaska season.  In addition, Canada may keep it's ports closed to cruise ships for the Alaska 2021 season.  Between the two circumstances it does cast some uncertainty on where Radiance will be in 2021 and that could impact an early 2022 sail date on her.
Key West has also voted to ban most cruise ships that could also impact your cruise but there is talk of that being overturned by the state of Florida.  That just leaves another question and degree of uncertainty.
She is hanging around Asia at the moment so with the Alaska season in question and no easy way to move to the Atlantic with passengers it's really not clear what Radiance will do for 2021 and into 2022.

CruisingOz reacted to Atlantix2000 in Worried there are no shore excursions listed?
I don't know whether my answer will help or hurt your anxiety.  I don't think it's unusual for shore excursions to be unavailable a year out in normal times.  As Matt said, with the pandemic, it will be even harder to negotiate with vendors.  Some of the local tour companies have probably already gone out of business, others may do so in the coming months, and new ones will be created once there is demand again.
It is also not unusual for excursion offerings to change.  Even under normal conditions, if you book something a year out, it might get canceled a few months later, and you'll have to pick again.  I've even seen entirely different excursions pop up and canceled my original plan because the new one sounded better.
As for the ship itself, yes there's always a possibility Royal could reassign the ship to another region.  The ship could also get chartered by a private group.  That risk goes down as a sailing gets closer and as the percentage of cabins sold goes up but it happens and it is messy.
I generally don't book vacations more than a few months in advance to avoid a lot of the risks but that doesn't work for everyone.  It also has it's downsides.  Suites and cabins with better locations are generally sold earlier and at better rates but right now that's a compromise I'm willing to make.

CruisingOz reacted to Matt in Worried there are no shore excursions listed?
I think the lack of shore excursions listed to book is more a product of the world we are in now where any cruise is in limbo if it will sail or not.
I don't think there's a major shore-side effort to get shore excursion options up there ASAP.
Moreover, there's the notion that likely (although not confirmed yet by Royal Caribbean) tours may have to be altered/limited due to covid.

CruisingOz reacted to Bazza in Is there a ship you won’t sail on again?
Our 3 x B2B out of Sydney in 2018 was on Ovation and she was amazing. The first 10 days were around New Zealand and the last 14 were to Singapore via Brisbane/Darwin/Kuala Lumpur - and both were fantastic. However, the middle part bolted into the 27 day trip was a 3 day 'taster cruise' which took us just off the coast of Australia. I think the same people from @CruisingOz's Carnival experience were on for those 3 days as it was not an enjoyable atmosphere! Finding people passed out in the elevators, people confined to cabins for being drunk and disorderly and having to tip-toe around vomit in numerous places was a little off-putting!!
With hindsight we should have got off at Sydney with some hand luggage and spent 3 days enjoying the amazing city and local beaches!!
So for the topic of the thread, would not avoid the ship but would avoid the actual 'trip'!
