  1. If I'm not mistaken gratuities is not included in that $80 list price. That is added on when you check out. As for the $15 drink each you may be right on that one but I always just averaged $10 a drink for some times it is not a mixed drink but something like a Cap and Coke which I would assume is cheaper than say a Long Island.
  2. That is what I thought as well but when I called Royal to arrange that setup they said that my package setup was cheaper.
  3. Not according to this but this does not reflect what I actually have. I have one of each package.
  4. This is for a 5 night cruise at that, At least yours is a 7 night. I believe that my April trip is going to be alcohol free for the most part unless I can get the 10 drink card which I have not seen on my past 2 cruises.
  5. Not wanting to get into politics but I was informed that last July the pandemic was over. Got to love politics.
  6. I agree 100% with you and as I stated before I am no longer willing to bear the cost of the package. I am taking a stand and telling Royal that they are over charging for their drink packages. I can only hope that other people are reaching that point as well otherwise it might be awhile until I start to drink again on their ships.
  7. I normally drink mixed drinks which range in price but I always go with the $10 a drink average. The DBP runs $80 a day so that equals out to 8 drinks a day which I can do but I hate the fact that I have to push myself to drink that many drinks a day to break even. I personally prefer to take my time and not have to force drinks down me to feel like I am getting value from the package. This is why I have no problem buying the DBP when it is in the $60 range but at $80 that is just to much for my wallet. I enjoy getting the package for I can order what I want and not have to worry about paying a bill at the end but at $80 a day for the package I am thinking that I will come out cheaper in the end by just paying cash for the drinks.
  8. I believe that the children will acquire their own points but while sailing with either parent they will get the parent's status that they are sailing with. For example if Mario was my dad I would get all his Pinnacle benefits even though I was only Gold but if I sailed by myself I would only get Gold benefits.
  9. I am normally good for about 8-10 drinks a day but my wife is only good for maybe 4 or 5 tops and some days she does not even drink. With that being said in order for me to get my money back I have to drink 15-20 drinks a day. I do my best right out of the gate by ordering spiked coffee from Cafe Promenade but after about 8 or so drinks I am normally full and getting tired of running to the bar every so many minutes. Overall it is not really about trying to get my monies worth out of packages but more about getting some value out of it. Do you know how much liquor I can buy at home for $870? My god I could get my entire neighborhood drunk on one Saturday night for $870 and still most likely have money left over.
  10. My wife and I are set to sail on a cruise then end of March and the end of April both on Mariner. Last week I decided to purchase the DBP after waiting for a real discount to appear but after monitoring the package for the past 4 months I never saw any kind of discount. I ended up paying 870.50!!!! That is the cost for my April cruise as well. I believe that I reached my tipping point in which I will no longer buy the DBP. I can truly understand why people now sneak alcohol on board. To make things even worse on my last cruise in December I was talking with the bar tender while he made me a Long Island. Now everyone knows that Long Islands are made with 5 to 4 different shots of liquor. As I talked to the bar tender I noticed that the liquor shots he used looked like a teaspoon each. When I inquired as to why he was not using full shots he informed me that their drinks are only allowed to have one to one and half shots total of liquor! No wonder why after slinging down drinks all day long I never really got a buzz. I always thought that it was because I was eating food through out the day. It is because of the lack of liquor used in the drinks and primarily the cost being so high now that this market will no longer bear the cost of the DBP. I have another cruise also booked for October and that one is looking not good either for the DBP. If I can pickup the package for around $50 or $60 a day I will book it but at $80 a day that is just to much for me. Alright rant over.
  11. I am truly in trouble now. After talking smack that in order for one to become a suite snob they need to book something higher that the JS. Well my idiot self decided to do play the Royal up game and put in the lowest bid option for the 1 bedroom Owner's Suite on Serenade for my cruise next week. I'll be danged if I did not get it SOB! This is my first time bidding on any room and it had to be an upgrade to a suite. Now I just have to hope that the wife does not become a suite snob. I could have sworn that someone would have outbid me. The upgrade was only $400 for the both of us.
  12. NO...NO...NO....JS is not the gateway to being a suite snob. It has to be the higher class suites that leads one to being a suite snob for if it is not then I am in trouble. I hate it when the mouse gets possessed and just starts clicking on things. I'll really be in trouble if the wife turns into a suite snob for that means less man toys for me through out the year.
  13. Hopefully that is the way it is working out of Tampa for that is where I am sailing out of on the Dec. 14.
  14. The first of November I sailed out of Port Miami and did see a line specifically for Star class and also a specific line for suites. My up coming sailing in 2 weeks is out of Tampa so I am hoping that they have a separate line for suites.
  15. thanks for the reply this is exactly what I was hoping someone would respond with. Did you have to stick with your boarding time or were you able to sneak on earlier? I have a 12PM boarding time currently but I am hopeful that if we show up around 11:30 we can be on board by 12.
  16. IT is from my understanding that the JS will not ruin a person like the higher up suites do. At least this is what I am hoping for..lol Thanks for letting me know that I do qualify for the expedited suite line at the terminal.
  17. I wanted to double check with the group to see if Jr. Suites are allowed to use the suite line at the cruise terminal? I think I read in an old post a long time ago that they do not get to use the suite line at the terminal. Can someone please confirm if I am remembering this correctly? This is my first time in a Jr. Suite.
  18. During a Christmas cruise my wife and I bought the photo of us in front of the ship's Christmas tree on formal night. Beyond that one single picture we always determined that the photo packages were to expensive. As mentioned already you have to seek out the picture takers to have your picture made.
  19. My wife and I are also on this sailing with you. As PPPJJ mentioned we are also looking forward to this sailing since we have been land locked since December 2019. Be sure to check out the roll call for this sailing for the messages are becoming more active the closer we get to the sail date. I have no idea how to help you with your genie for we have never had a Star experience but I know that several other folks on here will chime in with help. One thing that I have read over and over again was to be very specific in your wants and needs with your genie. Try to not leave anything open for interpretation otherwise you may not get what you want.
  20. Is the OP not vaccinated? If so then they should be protected against the virus. Plus I thought that everyone including young children have to produce a negative test prior to boarding?
  21. Might want to see if there is a roll call for your sailing to see if anyone else has been able to check in.
  22. The booking number I assume is correct. I purchased the cruise through Costco and have had them involved in an attempt to resolve my issue but they are just a middle man and have no actual power. What is interesting is if I call Royal direct it takes a lot longer before I initially get to speak to someone then going through Costco. I guess Costco has a different phone number that they call to reach support.
  23. Great suggestion but I am probably the only person left on Earth that does not have a Facebook account. I refuse to make an account.
  24. That is an interesting idea. I'll call Costco since I am booked through them to see what they say. What might happen if we do that is that I would have to rebook at whatever today's price is in which case I would be paying a lot more.
