Looking at your picture I would say you are fair skinned.  So  please bring  some good sunscreen and use it often.  If you haven't been to the tropics,  the sun is different than the sun in Utah.  You can fry quickly in the caribbean sun    And just because you might not be in the direct sun you can still be burned from reflective rays from the white sand and water.  Don.t mean scare you but be careful and have a great cruise.

Thanks MikeK! We will be bringing lots of sunscreen & applying it often! This is our 3rd cruise to the Caribbean, so we should be ok. Thanks for your concern!?

  2. HI all!

We are Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and we'll be sailing on Indy in Nov. As a World Wide Church we are studying the Bible (We use the King James Version). We thought it would be fun to invite anyone of ALL ages to join us in a 1 Hour Bible study/discussion on SUNDAY NOV. 10 while on board Independence of the seas! My Husband & I will be sailing with our 3 boys ages 6, 10, & 13. Let me know if you're interested, so I can plan accordingly. Here is a link to the lesson we will be studying https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-individuals-and-families-new-testament-2019/43?lang=eng

    Happy Cruising!

  3. We did snorkeling & Sting ray city a few years ago with our 7 & 10 yr olds. We loved it! We were able to pet & feed the stingrays!

We decided to book with a 3rd party. We just got off the ship & there were TONS of people selling the same excursions for a fraction of the price! We paid $30 each & used a CC to pay. The excursion lasted 3-4 hrs & we had time to eat at Hard rock Cafe afterwards. If your 8 year old isn't a great swimmer I'd suggest a life vest. Our boat had them.

    I agree with this.

Just visited Nassau for the first time a few weeks ago.  I honestly wasn't very impressed with the port area....Didn't seem to be much there.

We did Atlantis.  I had serious reservations about doing it and should've trusted my instincts and what others here had said as it was a waste of money and time.  It's just way too crowded and way too expensive.  We went there for the day and were able to do a few waterslides before things got too crowded.  But then we spent a couple hours trying to get tubes for the lazy river type things and we never able to get them.  Their system there is just terrible and you basically have to win the tube lottery to get one.  It was a fantastic place and would probably be a fine place to stay if you could visit it later at night when cruises leave the dock.....But no way I'll head to Atlantis again.

And frankly, I'll probably try to avoid Nassau again as it just didn't feel like a very interesting port.  If I did go there, I'd probably just walk around and maybe head to the free Junkaroo beach.

Our experience , with Atlantis, was the exact opposite! However, we were there at the end of October which is their offseason. We NEVER waited in line for the slides or tubes. In fact, most of the time we were the only people on the slides!! The slides are Super fun & not your average water park slides. I have a friend that visited Nassau with her teenagers & they loved it, too. Atlantis also gives you something like 5 miles of beach to enjoy & no one is there bothering you to buy things.

It really may depend on what time of year you're there and what activities your family wants to do that day.  When is your cruise?

  5. We went to Nassau in Oct. 2017 and LOVED it!! We bought tickets to Atlantis on their website. Got off the ship & took a taxi to Atlantis! It was more beautiful & amazing than in the pictures! The slides & lazy river were SO fun and the beach was gorgeous! Our boys (5, 9 & 11 at the time) loved finding giant concha shells EVERYWHERE!! We walked through the aquarium & It was a perfect day! At the end of the day we were the last ones to board the ship around 8pm. Have fun, be smart & enjoy Nassau!

  6. I loved reading this blog! Great job!

We will be sailing on Indy in Nov. 2019. We have been on Freedom before & loved it!

Quick question, Did the king size bed have a pad/memory foam topper? Freedom did, but Enchantment did not.

We will be in a cat 1R room (spacious Interior). I'm a little nervous because we've always had a OV or balcony, but for the amazing price we got, I think we'll survive! We have 3 boys and I am excited about the extra space.
