Roatán is in the Central time zone, it doesn't observe DST

Miami is in the Eastern time zone and in September it will be on DST, 1 hour ahead of standard time.

That means the time difference between the two in September will be two hours.

However it is likely the ship will change time as it sails towards Roatán.

If you will be communicating with friends and family on the east coast they will be two hours ahead while you are in Roatán.

thanks! hope our captain changes time as we approach Roatan!

Most Caribbean nations do not observe daylight savings time.   The US East coast does.  The result is an answer of... it depends on when is your cruise?  During DST or not?

Not all ships change time.  It's at the discretion of the Captain and Cruise Director.   Most seem to though.

timeanddate.com will display the time zone and time for any location.

our sailing is Sept. 29 - Oct 5

That's interesting, what was included, lounger, umbrella, access to pool and beach?  I'm guessing you could by drinks at their bar and order food for cash?

included - lounger, access to pool and beach, they did have palapas but not many.

yes we were able to buy food/drinks for cash.   restaurant was right next to beach/pool area.

overall we had a good time. resort was clean and well maintained.

I suppose by the strict definition of "all" it's not.  There are extra charges for VIP stuff and the spa, but they include the following:  "Included with the Melia Day Pass is Unlimited dining for lunch and snacks at open establishments, Unlimited drinks (house alcohol & nonalcoholic beverages), Beach access, 3 pools, 2 whirlpools, Lounges, umbrellas, towels (no need to bring the ship’s towels), Non-motorized water sports, family pool and Kids’ Club, Wi-Fi to stay in touch with family & friends"

oh ok. I paid $25 or $30 per person to use their facility only. no food was included..  I liked Melia.. not too crowded..nice pool and beach area.

  5. hello!

while I was reviewing my itinerary on my invoice I saw we will be in Roatan from 7 AM - 4 PM which isn't too bad.  but then I remembered they are in different time zone and indeed they are -2 hours from ship time - I guess Eastern time zone since we are leaving from Port. Canaveral??

Does that mean we will be in Roatan from 5 AM - 2PM ?????????  now I am very confused..   ?

The reduced deposit generally requires NRDB or Non Refundable Deposit Booking.  There are some cases where a refundable cruise can be booked with a reduced deposit.  Cruises in other regions seem to benefit from this more than North American cruises.

You definitely need to ask for and in some cases insist for refundable fares at Next but they often make them unattractive.  Loss of OBC, higher fares and higher despots are common for refundable Next bookings.  You are often better booking refundable with a land based travel agency.

    thanks!

Our 4 main reasons we book future cruises the first night on board are:  Reduced Deposit, Cruise Price, Cabin Selection, and last the fact the appointment book for Next Cruise will fill up fast.  Also if you get a good agent they will recommend reasons for a certain cruise, or cabin selection, ship, etc.   The reduced deposit allows you to book several future cruises for that attractive $ 100.00 per person deposit.  For the past 3 years the wife has already said again we are not booking any future cruises this next cruise.   L.O.L.    I can bet the farm we will be booking more cruises on our next cruise in Sept.

is that refundable or non-refundable deposit?

  8. so I called Royal again to triple check and I probably missed the part where rep. telling me that my deposit is now non-refundable.  ?

    ?

oh well.. now I have no choice but to make this trip at all cost!!  unless, of course, crane fall on the ship 5 days prior to my departure date.

non-refundable deposit sounds bad but price is just tooooooo good I am glad I made a change.

  9. I just had a phone call with Royal rep. via 866-562-7625 to reprice my booking for Harmony in September.  I booked directly on Royal homepage several months ago when there was KSF promotion going on.

As you know another KSF sale started on April 1st I did a mock booking and found out I could bring down about $100..so I called and asked him to give me new price that I was looking on the computer monitor.

After couple of minute, rep. told me savings would be $600 not $100.  I didn't believe it so I asked very detailed question TWICE.  He confirmed there would be $600 savings since he is combining all 3 promotions together.  I was still skeptical but once I received an updated email with new invoice it was indeed $600 less than my original price.

.....and I still can't believe it!.   any chance he made an error??  it is too good to be true.
