  1. hello all,

I am trying to book a cruise on Harmony for next year..as well as trip insurance given all situation/circumstances.   I have never purchased trip insurance for all my past cruises so I am little (very) confused what to look for.  lol

I would like to know the Royal's travel protection plan in relation to fully refundable deposit.   I do know that we can get a deposit back if we cancel before final payment date but what if we have to cancel cruise 30 days before sail? Does Royal's insurance cover deposit as well?

specifically, if we "cancel for any reason"  it says we get 75% back as Future Cruise Credit... but... 75% of what?  does that include deposit amount? or do we lose deposit money if past final payment date no matter what?

also, can anyone please recommend 3rd party trip insurance company that covers "cancel for any reason"?  .....do they really cover it? lol

I am very new to trip insurance so please help me out little bit..

    thanks!!

We will be there next week.  There are still both beach and OTW cabanas available and the price has remained very steady (no big jumps or slumps) since they became available for booking.  That makes me think that they are not in particularly high demand for our sailing.  The day pass to the Club, however, must be selling pretty well.  The prices on that have been all over the place with $50.99 PP the lowest (this is the price we paid) and today’s price, $93.99 PP.   As far as I know, Anthem will be the only ship there that day.

Do you know what is included on Beach club only pass?

I got it for $25 on the cruise planner ahead of time for the unlimited ride.  I think they were charging $30 for a SINGLE ride the day of!

I went over and over again probably 6-7 times in a row.  The line was short and often there wasn't even a line.  I had to wait maybe 5 minutes at the most.

It's a bit different from a typical coaster in that you do the braking yourself with handbrakes.  Really simple to operate and you can get to going really fast.  It also offers you amazing views while you are riding.

wow! $25 sounds like a great deal.  thanks!

You know..I stood there waiting in line to exchange my shore excursion ticket for my unlimited ride wristband and didn't pay attention.

But I do believe that they took cash and also credit cards.  It was folks who lived there that ran the hut where you got the wristbands.

    got it.  thank you!

Was unlimited ride worth it for you? how many times did you end up riding? was the line long?

Since we don't even know any hints about the ship's design, I would say that's at best a 50/50 chance. Quantum and Anthem were able to start off up here because of their cold-weather design that allowed them to sail from here year-round. If Icon is also designed with cold-weather sailing in mind, then having NJ as the initial US home port could well be a possibility. Royal has shown with Q class that they're willing to give the northeast the first ship of that class when the design makes sense, so... maybe?

At the same time, I look at Odyssey and how Royal decided to home port her in FL even though she'll be the latest Q class, where NJ or Seattle might have made better sense for the inaugural. Just shows that things don't always go the way you might expect them to. Although...

What if the reason Odyssey got placed in FL for her inaugural season is because Royal was thinking longer-term? They know Icon is coming relatively soon, and they know that the NJ / NY / CT area has had Q class ships for a long time. We got Oasis in 2020 and 2021, which while a nice change (for some, anyway ?) isn't new. We're "just" getting a decade-old ship that's gotten a facelift. What if Royal's plan was to give Floridians their own Q class ship because they also plan to give NJ the first Icon class ship, just like we got Quantum?

It's a stretch, I'll admit. This would mean that NJ / eastern seaboard got the inaugural ships of the two most recent designs. But if Icon was designed for it, and/or this region is the most prepared to support LNG fueling, it would make sense.

to me Odyssey is a warm weather ship...with Seaplex.  no brainer why Odyssey will be home ported in FL

It just checked the schedule for the entire year and there are two days where they have 4 ships scheduled.  I have never been there, but logistically, how can they do this?

Here is a list of 3 and 4 calling ships at Coco Cay as of 1/17/20 as provided by https://www.cruisetimetables.com/cruises-to-coco-cay-bahamas.html
