  1. No not exactly, because it more & more likely, their may be limited sailings, from specific ports...reasons why Galveston is apparently a favorable choice, in the 1st wave of opening. Any port in the NE area, more specifically, out of the Port Liberty is probable low on the scale of opening, given the state of the virus in that area, "stay in place" policy, & restriction that are in place currently….regardless on some possible level of improvement there. Hard to look that far off to 2022...one has to just look at the near future, suggesting to simply for now, the end of the year. So I fail to comprehend why such a move with Anthem is more costly when Royal at some point is going to have to determine which ships will sail during the 1st wave...they all will not be in service right out the gate...that's for certain. I suspect Anthem won't be the only ship to move, if the industry open up under limited sailings. The way things were, port operations, scheduling, etc, before lockdown, has all been thrown out the window and contingency by all parties involve I'm sure, being discussed & planned w/o penalty, because of the unique situation.
  2. The Anthem possible home port move to Galveston has been speculated ever since Galveston Steve link us to the article....so if true, and Royal already moving in that direction, according to the article....Royal obviously have been planning, fluidly, what dates Anthem will sail out of Galveston; so, if it was to happen during TG holiday & therefore, I imagine it would probably be offered pretty soon, as well as, other potential sailings & ship movement, to compensate when cruises begin to open for sailing, on a limited basis. I was speaking specifically on why you feel it would cost Royal vs the current amount of revenue being loss now
  3. Why....when every cruise line is already losing a lot more money, including in this case, Royal...compared to moving this one particular ship, let say base on the scenario that concerns you, during the time frame of "TG 2020", a little more than six months away. If Royal decide to move Anthem to Galveston, wouldn't that be consider a Royal Cancellation/Suspension from the original Itinerary; and, subject to the new Cruise with Confidence Lift & Shift policy, that obviously, put in place for this very reason, for Royal's plan ship movements, because of the potential limited sailing openings starting sometime after August...similar to what Carnival & I'm sure others are considering? Just asking....
  4. Good news...i didn't think the contract would be voided anyways...but like you said, at least now the delay is official...they can proceed forward.
  5. I believe "one" of a number of purposes for the muster is to provide & attend the physically location, while in a state of calm, so passenger will be aware of the location & possible path to take, to reach that location, should a dire emergency present itself, in the mist of potential nervousness, panic, & chaos. Just watching a video in a stateroom or other locations, not your design muster point, could be very counter productive, in a state of emergency, when people & young family memberss are scattered about, not quite sure where or how to maneuver to their designated muster location...again, in the mist of possible nervousness, panic, & chaos.
  6. Royal does not know or simply have not announced it public yet, the date Allure will be reschedule for Amping: so, I suspect it a little difficult for them to consider any exemption of transfer fees, for valid reasons given. I imagine until then, may have to exercise some patience, if this indeed is the case.
  7. Hmmm....not sure I see this happening. 1st: It would so blatantly be cosmetic...airlines, bus & train terminals face the same circumstance...what measures are enforced on those industries. 2nd: How would stagger boarding time, rectify anything once on ship? Will there be traffic cops & door attendants at all venues, on board enforcing SD? Finally: Some % of passengers at Port of Calls, are going to be angry, if their time at port is reduced because they have a late assign time to leave the ship....PD@CC anyone. Just sound like an attempt to influence new draconian protocols on cruising & cruiser, imo….this why cruise ship are so problematic & an easy target.
  8. Boniface V....I get your concern. This thing, unnecessarily imho, has cause a huge disruption in everybody lives...globally. Here's the numbers from just yesterday, please take note: World Population: 7.8 Billion U.S Population: 331 Million Total Global Infections: 2,373,850 .03% Total U.S. Infections: 742,460 .23% Global Deaths: 163,673 .002% U.S. Deaths: 39,651 .01% The point I'm making....when society opens up, it will open under the stipulations that the numbers will be much more less than what you see above. Not to down play those that have perish because of this virus & families losing love ones...."But Those Numbers" does not justify shutting down the global economy, or to be more specific to this blog, the cruise industry. Even after things open, there will be some hiccups; and, I sure many + the media will say, "I told you so...open too soon". Yet again, the numbers will be far less when society, the world, opens It we may look back at if it was a bad chase of Global Chicken Pox, that a small segment of people caught, and made a big deal about it. This is not the end of the world...…………………….I don't think.
  9. Businesses are in the business to make money...not lose money or break even. I have no problem with companies making money & creating wealth...it the greed that is destroying the fabric & choking out young, small, startups ingenuity or consolidating against competition from smaller well established businesses, with a rich to modest history. Monopolies & high bonuses breed contempt to workers & smaller businesses....that's when it become all about the bottomline. I love Free Market & Capitalism...don't won't to control it; yet, we are living under somekind of hybrid economic philosophy these days....and it is very unfair to small businesses & workers.
  10. I hope it's a significant pay cut & country in a unique, situation, not of its doing...give back just once, all CEOs.
  11. I agree...there will be some changes, to the requirements, to board a ship; I would say that will mirror the "Airlines". I also expect to see some changes in cruise industry specific procedures, like no more self-serving at buffet style eateries(Windjammer for ex.). Again however, when the country & society opens back up & the engine of the country resumes; it is open...with some loss of liberties we once enjoyed; but no doubt, fully open. The media is already inundating us, "Life in a New America". I disagree however, that society at large is very "anti-cruise"...the media certainly appear to be. I give you that; but, society as a whole, I disagree. Yes, I expect "class envy" to play even more of a part these days, with employers & fellow employees. Those that have concerns about backlash or suggested frowns, may be valid; I don't know...will it be different if they knew you was attending a sold out game or concert, Disney...another societal attitude one has to deal with.
  12. I wonder...do NZ limit the number of ships in its waters like Fjord in Alaska?
  13. Once society completely open, it will be open. There won't be any # of days quarantine if one go somewhere...that would be completely preposterous. Imagine, if you will, if you went to church, a game, Disney Land/World, 6Flags, theater or movie, restaurant, bar, dance club, or party...ride a bus, train, subway, plane, cruise...any number of places where people conjugate in large or small numbers or crowds like at a stadium, arena, or amusement park. The sheer number of people that would have to self-quarantine, on a daily basis is completely not practical & un-enforceable. Once society opens...it's open. There will probably be some strings attached I'm sure...we seem to have liberties stripped a little at a time; but, keep in mind, many of our Representatives(not leaders) are already trying to open stadiums up for crowds of fans.
  14. This what confusing imo...some have said they gotten their cabin place on hold by a TA & when the FCC cleared, they were able to apply the full amount of the FCC to the fare, plus paid whatever remaining balance, if any, w/o paying a deposit...I have seen someone site Matt's page & a few posters on facebook, as proof of this. Some have also said the complete opposite...they still had to apply a deposit even after the cabin was placed on hold by a TA. Which is which?
  15. I have seen myself, a number of "some" valid speculations or suggestions, of measures that may come in play down the line...but, have not seen anything definite. That's not to say, there's no guidelines in place for the industry to sign off on...I just haven't seen any.
  16. I agree with this...given, many parts of the country, in particular, are formulating plans to incrementally start opening up & maybe small pockets all over the world.
  17. ??? I never said if they was negligent or not...speaking specifically on how manipulative the article is...especially showing a picture that's not collaborated...as being from the particular cruise/ship in question or date, time, authenticity of the pic...which no doubt used to convey a narrative. Of course, imo, there was negligence; and, those passengers & crew are going to have a case: but, the article itself is not saying anything that we are not already aware of for the last month, from when this event happened. Why rehash month old news if it was not to show a picture, to prejudice the reader, right off the bat; then rehash an old story to achieve what? Very manipulative, imo, and add to the total wrecking of an economy & more specifically, the industry. The article, posted a few days ago, was not needed & very unnecessary. Cruise ships, by nature, is going to be problematic & an easy target....which is what this is.
  18. Just curious to know...is the deal "as is" or would Royal do some level of refurbishments, before turning it over?
  19. So, it was not replaced with "which Odyssey" sailing..... ? <a little inside joke>
  20. Same here...I dread the idea of many of RC's plans that was scheduled to be completed over the next few years, may not see fruition til much later after their original debuts.
  21. Yeah...thought Oddie suppose to sail out of FLL
  22. You got until May 4th...so just give it a few days; maybe the IT would have fixed it by then.

  24. The thesis of this thread, base on the video above, a procedure for the cruise industry to quickly test cruisers, similar to what Emirates apparently are doing. My comment is directed at the method of testing...that is not a conspiracy. I prefer not give blood to an unknown/unnamed entity, contracted by cruise line, with no discernable verification how my personal DNA is being properly disposed of, with insurance it's not being recorded in a database. I have no desire of having my blood taken from anyone outside of my personal doctor...and even then, I dislike the idea of it being in an established database. That video appear to simulate the ease & convenience, without concern I would have; when there are just as quick & less evasive measures that can be performed, on the spot, like swabbing, that efficiently being performed currently. It was not conspiratorial statement, just an expressed concern...and certain not political. I think the way one read & process what they read, in their own way, take things or read things, in a way they feel; and, not necessarily, the way that person address it. In this case, you may not be cognizant of it...how you perceive my opinion. No harm done...
