I know many people have said the ship’s blow dryer is fine but if you care enough about your routine to have a particular diffuser I’d bring your own dryer if you can possibly squeeze it in. The dryer in our stateroom was... ahhh... rinky dink? That’s the most polite way I can describe it. And don’t get me started on the unspeakable pump of 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner mounted on the wall! Egads!

Thank you so much ???? The struggle a real lol

This just wouldn’t be a great idea IMHO. Especially since your just getting something to eat.

    1. Logistics of explaining why your getting off a cruise ship you just got on to go get something to eat must be a red flag w/ customs.

    2. There’s nothing in downtown Fort Lauderdale (food wise) worth going through the hassle and expense of getting off the ship for.

    3. Lots of room for error. Lose track of time, problems getting a ride share, customs issue exc exc. The payoff is just not there. I would stay on the ship and enjoy your vacation waving bye bye to Fort Lauderdale as you sail out the inlet.

got it ...it was more to see husbands family honestly and catch a bite with them..lol I don't care to do anything but get a tan

Cash tips are always well received.  I bring singles with me when I cruise but you can also stop by guest services and ask them to break down a $20 to smaller bills for tipping.

Keep in mind the package includes gratuity.  Additional tipping is not required.

so you think you fit in my pocket? lol THANK YOU AGAIN

In most cases, the receipt will specify that a service charge (aka gratuity) is already included in the cover charge you paid. Usually it is specified as either a line item on the receipt, and/or at the very bottom.

You can certainly elect to leave an additional tip if you feel appropriate.

    Matt,

Since I have refreshment package already.on ship,  Can I tip in cash if I choose to? Will the bartenders take cash tip?

Some ships will place a departure questionnaire in your cabin a few days into the cruise.  It's worded like you need to request self-assist.  That isn't the case.   You can just do self-assist without any action on your part, just walk off the shipwa with all your luggage at the designated time.

When luggage tags are delivered there will be a departure letter placed in your cabin.

Here is an Adventure departure letter from 2018:

    Adventure Deprture Letter.pdf 431.51 kB · 2 downloads

Note that self assist is directed to go to the Lyric Theater on deck 4 between 6:16am and 7:30am.

Simply bring all your luggage with you and head down.  Ignore the numbered luggage tags left with the departure letter, do not place your luggage in the hall the night before.

If you desire to be at the front of the self assist line you will need to go down before the posted start time for self assist.  (not required for a 10:30am flight unless you arrive late into port)

Wish I could put @twangster in my pocket ?? while I’m on the cruise ... u are just that great! ??

I really didn't expect much from St. Kitts. Our plan was get off the ship for a couple of hours simply because we felt obligated to. We ended up taking one of the van tours. We were blown away with the beauty, the people and the history of the island. We used Silver Lining Tours & Taxi. The guide was Castella "Cassie" Audain. She was the best!

Yep, never have had a military discount apply for any royal cruise we have priced or booked. Sometimes I feel companies have these options  advertised on the website because it looks good  as PR.  It’s a business, that’s fine but then don’t advertise a discount that so rarely applies it’s hard to find anyone who’s ever been able to use it.

O it's definitely just for PR...sad but true...I went to Alaska last year with Princess and got $200 on board credit for being military...Royal has it's pro/cons for sure just like any other cruise line, but not celebrating military is a huge down fall.

Good morning!  I have three teenagers- 13, 15 and 16. They love getting the virgin daiquiris and all of the other “mocktails” and smoothies. They don’t drink a lot of soda at home, so I decided to go ahead and let them do the refreshment package. Gatorades (maybe not that brand, but that type of drink)  and speciality coffees (not at Starbucks) are also included. To me, it was worth it just to let them “indulge” a little on the ship and knowing how much I would be spending on their drinks ahead of time. Watch the cruise planner because we have seen the price vary about $7 per day from the lowest price I’ve seen $19/day to the most expensive $26/day.

could I get a virgin pina colada with the refreshment package? if so I'm gonna be so mad lol that I buy countlless ones without the package...is this considered a "mocktail"

Fresh off Navigator in March 2019 here is the latest version of the drink menu found on many ships.

It's largely unchanged from 2017 but prices have been updated.

May want to pack Dramamine or Bonine if you have any concerns about motion sickness; much cheaper to buy on land than on ship, and the old adage about an ounce of prevention...

If you have a number of devices to charge, pack a USB charging hub. I have this model and it works very well / is compliant with the ship's safety requirements (i.e., no surge protector on it).

awesome idea for the USB hub..got mine at "5 and below" lol winning ?

  11. Hi all,

I’m a sunglasses lover and would love to take about three/four different ones with me.  Any suggestions on a tote or holder for them, besides their individual ones? Trying to condense space while proteging them as well. If you do can you provide a pic please. Thanks so much.

    Not crazy at all.

Royal Caribbean has a loyalty program called Club Royale.  You are automatically enrolled in this program if you use your Sea pass card at any casino slot machine or table game.  There are tier levels to this program and based upon your play level (frequency, time spent playing and average bet values) you can advance to higher tier levels.  The higher your tier level, the more casino offers you will receive.  You can “win” certificates while on your cruise and also receive offers through the mail and by email.  If you are rated at the tier level of Prime or higher, you will receive a complimentary cruise.  You must requalify every year.

The onboard casino host will not know what offers you have (other than any certificate that he/she will offer you) but you can call Club Royale any time to find out what offers you are eligible for (888-561-2234) or go online at Clubroyaleoffers.com and see what offers you have.  The problem with the online list is that there are no details about the offers so you generally have to end up calling anyway.

learning has occurred lol and THANK YOU so much for the explanation ?

As a general rule, we book the ship first unless there is a unique itinerary that we are interested in.  Also, we book many cruises based on what the casino is offering for complimentary cruises.  Of the 9 we currently have booked only 1 was chosen specifically for the itin and schedule and that is the group cruise to Canada and New England in Oct 2020.  All the rest were somehow casino-related.

Both Dan and I are going to be deficient in available annual leave for 2019.  We will be instituting “creative” accounting.

    ??

I will be on my 6th cruise this wknd, yet I'm still learning and still feel lost after reading countless posts on this blog..lol If you don't mind, can you elaborate on what the casino is offering? What does that even mean? Do I go to the casino and ask for upcoming "specials" on cruises or something? I apologize if this is a crazy question, just trying to get to your status of expertise lol

  14. Hi all,

I've never bought the "internet" packages on ship, because I like to vacation and disconnect from reality lol BUT...I need to ensure my daughter is able to face time a couple days while I"m gone, because she needs that type of comfort...Now my question is, do I need the surf and stream package? or just surf? Also, is the internet atleast decent without constant buffer all the time to allow for a few minutes of facetime? Lastly, I'm terrified about over charges from my cell company once I get off ship (I'm just paranoid).  If I buy the package, once on ship do I just connect to the ships wifi and be OK and not incur roaming charges from cell phone company? So many questions I know, but any advice will help...Thank you all again!

  15. Hello my fellow cruisers,

This will be my 5th cruise, but first time at 4 different ports with nothing planned.  I'm usually OCD with planning my itinerary for the ports, not including the planning  I do once I get my cruise compass ha,ha..BUT  I'm trying to "wing" it this trip. I don't have any excursions locked on as of yet and I leave next wknd.  For all you experience cruisers...Do you think I'll be able to do any of the excursions Royal offers on the cruise planner, if I just get off at the ports and decide to do one with an outside company? I'm trying to "relax" as this is a birthday cruise for me and I'm generally going 60 MPH with work, kids, sports events, just life as a whole. My anxiety is going through the roof knowing I have nothing "planned" , it sounds crazy but just looking for some guidance or advice.  I stop at San Juan (I'm Puerto Rican) so no worries there...St. Maarten, St. Kitts and Haiti.  I have already decided that Haiti, I will get off cruise early get a quick tan, and back on boat.  The other two ports, I don't want to miss out on anything because I know there is tons to do, yet thinking of winging it...Sorry this is so long, but just reaching out for some positive vibes and reassurance that I'll be ok if I don't plan anything..lmaoo Thanks in advance.

p.s. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS SITE AND ALL OF YOU!

  16. Hi everyone,

I was wondering if my Husband and I have to board the ship together? Since we have our own sea "pass", is it necessary?  We arrive in FLL very early the day of the cruise.  He would like to visit family and while he does that I would prefer to be tanning on the ship lol lol.  Any info would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.
