  1. We are going in January and have the Mount Gay rum tour booked, last year we just did an island tour because it was our first trip there, we did enjoy it, we had 4 stops and plenty of time for some shopping.
  2. If you are in Minnesota you really need winter vacations with the weather you get, and it will become an addiction.
  3. Enjoy, I am on a count down out of San Juan as well, great place to,start a cruise, St Lucia on of my favorite islands.
  4. We enjoyed the Segway in St. Kitts, we tend to do,the Segway tours on different islands, this was maybe the most challenging one, but also one of our favorites, plus it starts and ends in the shopping area if you want to shop on returning.
  5. Cruising is awesome and this is an interesting read seeing how, everyone does it. I,wish we had started cruising earlier in life, my wife just couldn't get me on a cruise, but, once I cruised, like most I am hooked. I retired 10 years ago a little before, retirement age, I got a part time job at,the airport and that helps with flights. If you are in California, you have a long pricy trip to,even get to most Royal cruise ports, we met a couple from California on a cruise and have become good friends, we have visited them 4 times and they have come to visit us 3 times and they say the cost flying east is expensive. We use the Royal card for points and I but away a few dollars every week toward a cruise, book early and extend your payments out, we just booked our 21st cruise for January, we tend to take one shorter quick, cheaper, cruise in September and longer cruise in January or February to,get us out of the Midwest cold winters. We also, tend to stay in interior or,pramade rooms and that saves a lot compared to a suite or even a balcony, we just sleep in the room, I see no need to,pay up for a room I am rarely in. Enjoy your cruise.
  6. We like, staying at the Holiday inn express on 24 th st, about ten minutes from port, there is a small, strip mall, across the street and really enjoyed a restaurant there, can't remember the name, but it was really good, hamburgers, fish, salads and stuff like that, but I'm sure tonyfsu21, as a local can help more than I can, but Holiday in is very nice and clean.
  7. On your second question about drinks, I'm pretty sure they will only put drinks in the glasses at the bar, but obviously you can pour them in you own glass, they also only have paper straws now.
  8. Excellent cruise choice, we did southern last January and doing Southern again January of 2020, not sure if you have ever did segways, we have did, them on so many islands, but the Segway tour in St Kitts was one of our favorites, plenty of shopping in same area as you start and end the tour.
  9. It will be plenty warm for you all, especially if you're coming from a northern state someplace, I,agree with others, you will be hooked and like so many of us, can't wait to,cruise again, especially in the winter, enjoy and welcome to the cruising fanatics.
  10. Cruised out of San Juan last January and spent most of day on beach, it was very warm, have another planned this January, so much warmer starting a cruise out of,San Juan in January or February than it is Florida.
  11. Antigua for, some reason is one of my least favorites, on our last cruise their last year we had a survey asking if we felt safe their, I am surprised they are investing in Antigua, I,was thinking a few cruise lines had stopped going there.
  12. We have never had a problem with diamond drinks in the main dinning room, I,also have used them in the casino,as well.
  13. Agree with this, we had a very nice, safe lady driver thru Cocoa beach shuttle, highly recommend.
  14. Give me the French Onion soup and escargot and the Prime Rib on the rare side with baked potato as my favorite dishes, as for, desert I am not, sure of the name of it, but it is,the warm chocolate cake.
  15. Thanks for all the updates and safe travels, as I always say, welcome back to the real world. Cruising is awesome.
  16. The boys might enjoy the huge dinosaur store, other than that and some shopping I would pray for sunshine.
  17. I,don't believe I have been on any excursion busses that have anything more than a lap belt. May need to consider.taxie or Uner/Lyft option.
  18. Just used Lyft for first time ever in Ft Laudedale airport to cruise port. I just am not techy, but,it,was pretty easy. We checked, with cab from Fll to port, it was 25 dollars, Lyft was 11, that's a huge difference, left 5 dollar tip, so,cab would have been 30 bucks, it,was 16 with Lyft, I used my American Express on file and no money was exchanged, it gives you tipping options, or you can tip with cash, just could not believe how much cheaper it was, I,even offered the cabbie 18 plus tip, he wouldn't take it.
  19. We did the sulfer bath and scenic tour, we enjoyed it and really fell in love with this island after the tour, the sulfer water was very warm and relaxing, but does have that sulfer smell, but highly recommend.
  20. My vote goes to Navigator as well, but just can't go,wrong with either, I would decide more on the itenary than the ship. If I could pick ships, I,would take the freedom every time, been on it 4 times.
  21. I,wouldn't say it is normal, but it does happen, the good news is they did give you a heads up and you didn't show up to early and have to,stand forever. It has happened to us once and to be honest it was very crowded, I would still arrive at least by 12:30 or so and hope, everything is,cleared by 1 pm. Don't let it ruin an awesome trip planned.
  22. Much, much quicker on line , and they have even shortened that process this past year. Print out your set sail pass and have that and your pass port ready when you get to port.
  23. We always link our reservations thru Royal agent and I think you can even log in and do it now as long as you have the others in your party's reservation number. When you all check in, make sure you have same table number, if not go to dinning room asap, this has worked for us every time but once, and the second night they had us all together. We have 8 traveling in January and we are linked together.
  24. Glad to hear it is a pretty island, usually on our first trip,to a new place, we enjoy some kind of tour to see the island and its history. Thank you.
