  1. Not to worry. "The Book" isn't that good. The venue and special effects are cool, I think that's why it is popular. We were definitely one and done with it.
  2. Generally we always buy the package pre-cruise when on sale. Watch the cruise planner for deals but $81 pp per day may be the cheapest for your sailing. I have 2 bookings currently. Allure is $79.99/pp PD right now and Utopia is $85.99. It is a math problem as already mentioned but also one of convenience. I hate having to sign every time I buy a drink, and hate even more the dreaded bill on the last day. If you drink a specialty coffee or 2 in the morning, some pool side drinks, and wine or a couple evening cocktails I think you will find it is cheaper than paying per drink. We were just on Odyssey and to get a decent glass of wine it was $14.99 which was a dollar up charge over the package limits. If you take a peek at the bars and lounges on your app u can see menus. Beer averages around $8 and cocktails/wine $11-$14. Lets assume your average drink is $12 you only have to consume 7 drinks for the entire day to make the package worth it for you.
  3. This has always been one of our favorites on Royal Ships and are looking forward to seeing it again in March. i certainly could see royal moving the popular show to a newer ship doing traditional 7 day sailings. Maybe we could get rid of CATS on Oasis though
  4. i don't recall having reservations. Its been a year but pretty sure we decided each day where we wanted to go and just showed up. there was never a wait. we had early dining.
  5. Although I wasn't a fan of Odyssey of the Seas overall, 270 was one of my favorite venues. Loved the service in the morning...great coffee and breakfast sandwich.
  6. its been a while since we visited labadee (one of our favorite RCL stops) im sure you can get basic coffee but you might want to get something on the ship and walk off with it.
  7. if you chose early or late dining when booking you will sit at the same table in the main Dining Room each night and not have to worry about crowds. If you chose My Time dining make sure you reserve times on the app before the cruise and again you will not have to worry about crowds. You're going to love your first cruise and be hooked like the rest of us!
  8. we have cruised many times with our teenage and now young adult children. We almost always get connecting ocean view balconies. The price is right and the balcony dividers can also be removed by your stateroom attendant. We have also tried an oceanview balcony for us and a boardwalk balcony for the kids across the hall. For the money 2 balcony rooms beats 1 suite for us.
  9. Just got off 6 nights aboard Odyssey of the Seas and thought the Bionic Bar seemed like a huge waste of space. Kinda cool to get one drink from it but never had anyone sitting and enjoying the space like other bars. I definitely prefer the Champagne Bar that they have been getting rid of an replacing with Bionic on some ships. Just an observation.
  10. i would definitley recommend flying in the day before. you aren't leaving any contingency for flight delays, traffic, etc. Port is about an hour from the airport.
  11. we only had 1 on the second last night on our recent odeyssey cruise. I agree with you, any more than 1 is a little excessive.
  12. i can't imagine it would be a problem. There is no address on a passport. I think as long as its a government issued photo ID you'll be fine
  13. i get the mail offers pretty regularly from both royal and Celebrity but all your offers can be seen at http://clubroyaleoffers.com/ just log in with your C&A number you can even redeem online
  14. Wonder is definitely going to use Terminal 1 which is nicer than anything in Port Everglades and comparable to the main terminal in Miami. Definitely has dedicated suite lines. We have cruised out of PC several times and almost always stay at the Residence Inn across from the terminal. When I have rented a car I have kept it and just parked in the attached garage. As far as staying in PC vs orlando there is nothing by the airport so I think you'd rather be in PC. For reference I have used Uber from MCO and it was $125 each way so a rental car is a good way to go.
  15. give Johnny Rockets a try for breakfast. Its included, you get to sit outside on the board walk and I think the food is better than the MDR.
  16. just got off Odeyssey Saturday. The MDR food was excellent. Service was a little slow but not terrible. Surpisingly the let down was Coco Beach Club. This was our 4th time there and the food has always impressed us. The cabana burger was comparable to something from the Windjammer and the lobster sandwich was not good.
  17. I would and have chosen option #2. I have parked at terminal 1 many times and never had an issue. What time is your boarding? Get there before noon and there will be no issues parking.
  18. I think it depends a little on the ship. My times on Oasis and Allure were excellent (partly because of the atmosphere in central park maybe) but on Independence I'd say it was good not great.
  19. December 17, it was $250 but was on sale for 50% with the new black friday sale. we love it but $250 is a little steep. I just checked our April Allure cruise and it is also 50% off for $148
  20. picked up coco beach club for $125 on our december odyessey cruise. We love coco beach club but I wasn't going to spend $250 pp
  21. Ships are not registered in the USA our laws don’t apply. They get minimal if anything per hour and rely heavily on not just mandatory gratuity but any extra tips left by guests. We started cruising on Disney when our kids were young (15 years ago) and at that time the stateroom attendant was only earning their portion of the gratuity. They also have to pay for their internet if wanted while on board. I am fine with the increased cost, these people work their tails off so I can have a great vacation. (It may affect how much extra I leave at the end of the cruise (but so does my luck in the casino )
  22. I booked a driver on daytrip.com It was a little pricey ($100 each way) but very convenient. Pick you up right at the port.
