Can we refill our own water bottles?
loki007 replied to happy cruisers 2's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
there are water dispensers in the windjammer You can fill your bottle. -
the are mats to use at coco beach club. As far as value it depends what you paid for it. My rule is less than $200pp is worth it even if your gone for an hour on an excursion. That said we were just at Hideaway beach and for $26pp I think its a great option as well.

my rule is never wear pants, those are for work. Shorts are for cruising

Victoria, BC any reason to get off the ship?
loki007 replied to Baked Alaska's topic in Shore Excursions
other than its one of the most beautiful cities in North America....nope -
we were just on allure and you needed to insert your card to open doors
-
used it many times for our 10 day france and italy cruise last year. Very reliable.

understanding you are looking for a cabana but i would say that getting to hideaway beach early and grabbing chairs by the pool (not in the sand to protect your hubbies nether regions) would be a better day than a cabana at chill island or south beach. We were just at Hideaway and it is awesome, not sure we will ever go back to Coco Beach Club. You can hit the covered open air bar (pool tables, shuffle board, band), and slice of paradise for some pizza without getting sandy.

just got off Allure and the App had the ability to reserve mama Mia, Oceanaria, and Blades but the Aquatheater was the only one you actually needed a reservation for.

7 days freedom of the seas is the ship too small?
loki007 replied to Ben Scholtz's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I love the Freedom class ships. Definitely not small and perfect for a week long cruise. Next to Oasis ships they are my favorites -
definitley worth seeing some of Barcelona. The cruise port is about 20-30 minutes by car from where you will want to tour. I would suggest La Rambla, definitely hit the Boqueria market. If your plans allow I would try to fly in a day early to give yourself some time. We spent 2 nights in an airbnb before our cruise and it was perfect. Airbnbs are very affordable.

Can you roughly guess your MDR menu by the dress code?
loki007 replied to jbrinkm's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
you should be able to view menus on the app well ahead of time -
Odyssey of the Seas from NJ in December (Pool Question)
loki007 replied to kteach's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I believe the relaxing of solarium age requirements is just later afternoon thru early dinner not really when you and your kids will want to use the pool (if this sailing will allow it). I assume this is a Caribbean sailing so really just the first and last days it would be an issue. once you are in Florida it will likely be warm enough for the outdoor pool. -
Star Link will be much better than cell service at sea

Nice shorts and polo or collared shirt is great for the MDR. I like that formal night is now dress your best...my best is shorts and flip flops
-
or swing by Sorrento's for a nice slice or 2...or 3

agree Falmouth is pretty disappointing. Along with Nassau a good day to enjoy the ship

We flew out of FCO in September (although international so may have been different), you would have to have zero delays to feel comfortable with a 1030 flight. I personally would consider the later flight and thanks to being europe you can buy a late checkout and stay on the boat until 3:00 (that's what we did and it was fantatstic...wifi drink package all get extended). We had the pool deck to ourselves.

short cruises are great if you can drive to the port. We have 3 nighters on Allure, Utopia, and Reflection booked this year but can easily drive. They are a nice taste of cruising in between the longer itineraries that require a week off work.

depends what you are looking for. My son lives in Daytona, decent beaches and restaurants. Hotel options would be Daytona Autograph (across from speedway) and Hard Rock Daytona on the beach. if you're in to Nascar there is a lot to see. St Augustine is fun for a day, can't recommend a hotel there but nice place to walk around for a day. Orlando really isn't that far out of the way if you wanted more to do.

we are big fans of palm beach. Nos Clubhuis by the Marriott is a great place for lunch and happy hour. Chairs and umbrellas are expensive but so is everything in Aruba. We stayed at the Marriott for a week and I could have gone on 3 cruises after buying groceries for a week in Aruba

Port everglades has very convenient parking. Depending on your terminal you will be directed to a garage or surface parking within walking distance of your terminal. I wouldn't worry about offsite parking.

Royal Caribbean Bank of America Card
loki007 replied to Sal Brocato's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
they have really started delaying the transfer of on board credit. My last 3 cruises the OBC didn't show up until boarding was under 2 weeks away. Even after calling they would just say we have up until 2 weeks before sailing to apply the points. I have a cruise on Allure March 15 and my request for OBC was 6 months ago. I believe this is purposeful to prevent you using points for pre-cruise purchases. I plan to stop using my RC Card as I only use it for OBC.
