Having done Nassau a few times and having been on Anthem....You have made the right decision.

We always have exercised caution, and I will continue to do so. We will be there in about another 30 days but to be honest we plan on enjoying the day onboard the ship! This will be our 5th time there and just want to enjoy the ship at this point.  Last time we did a little bit of shopping and then took a taxi to Cabbage beach which was nice and beautiful, but we have never been on Anthem and are looking forward to enjoying the best that it has to offer!

I'm not buying the food waste explanation. Either the food is on the ship and available or it's not...if it is on the ship it has a shelf life and it will go to waste at some point. If someone orders a second entree it has to be available...not taken out of a freezer and prepared. This is either a cost saver (reducing consumption and thus cost of food per sailing) or a revenue generator. Imagine being told you have to pay for more than one plate of food in the Mounthjammer...errrr...Windjammer?
When it comes to Holland America I sail on the Idontgiveadam.

    Hi,
My wife, Sacha, and I have enjoyed Royal Caribbean and cruising dating back to 2012 when we first sailed on Explorer of the Seas.  Currently we are Diamond members after 15 cruises and all but one with Royal Caribbean (the other on Celebrity).  We have sailed on a variety of ships and itineraries.  We have been on an Alaskan and Mediterranean cruise in addition to our numerous Caribbean cruises.  We slowed down a little on cruising to have two kids because they didn't have nurseries widely available then.  Since then our kids (Logan almost 7 and Makenna 9) have enjoyed the adventure ocean program.  Our kids enjoy cruising as much as we do now and ask about when is our next cruise.  We are looking forward to our couple's cruise in July on Mariner and our family cruise in October on Harmony.  The blog, podcast, live cruise blogs,  live broadcasts etc by @Matt and others have had a positive impact on my cruising.  We now have 4 future cruises booked (a record for us).  We live in the Orlando, Fl area so cruising is a great vacation option for us since we don't need to fly to the port and have multiple ports within a reasonable drive.  We enjoy visiting Disney World when we are not cruising and we are annual pass holders.

"Walkers purpose". Let me ask you this. Does this look like the offices of a serious professional litigator or the facade of a Miami comedy club?

Simple.  Many residents have a love/hate relationship with cruise line passengers.  They love the impact to the local economy.  Friends and relatives have tourism driven jobs, people spend money, Nassau businesses prosper.  That being said they hate us.  Many secretly and not so secretly loathe us, unless they own a business that prospers.
The Bahamas is beautiful but you have to look past Nassau to find much of that beauty.

On Anthem in August we did not utilize any drink package. When we got the itemized bill at the end ,all my cocktails/beers at MDR dinners obviously appeared but any sodas/tea/juice my wife had did not show up. I didn't ask any questions. Especially when lots of people claim they "Nickle and dime you". Probably just good luck and the fact that we make a lovely couple.

I stopped reading after the author started talking about their dangerous drive through a "Level 2 alert area".
And not mentioning that Level 2 is the second lowest level which is also given to the "dangerous" countries of Germany, Denmark, and the UK.

And if they had not been put ashore and the condition became horribly more serious while onboard,  guess whose fault they would say that was.

The article has some gaps in it.  It also quotes the doctor as saying "we are kicking you off the ship" in quotes.  No doctor is going to say that, not those words anyways.
The article is written from their perspective which is biased towards their perspective.  Perhaps it is 100% accurate, or perhaps it suits their (and Walker's) purpose.

One thing to keep in mind is that if your son wants to use the freestyle machines, then you will need to get one of the drink packages (even if just the soda one) as he will need the special cup with the RFID chip in it. You can get a soda a la cart from a bar without the package but you need that cup to work the machines.
Also I’m sorry that you were made to feel foolish on other forums, but we are much, MUCH nicer here and please feel free to ask as many questions as you’d like! There seems to be a lot less malicious snark here than other venues and it’s very refreshing.

I'm absolutely sure this is not it, however it is a video on the first Royal Caribbean ship and maybe some of you might enjoy it.
