GlowTheWeird reacted to twangster in Booked Direct with RC Regrets
One advantage my TA has is when she looks for rates. Her screen shows her many rates with various promos or circumstances applied. Sometimes the C&A balcony discount doesn't provide the best rate but on the website when you enter your C&A details it might just display that one rate - the C&A rate, even though a cheaper rate may be available. You told it to price the C&A rate so that is what it does.
Shocking I know, but how many people thing the website is the best website and never possibly would there ever be a glitch or an issue or poor logic in use on the beloved website? Many people voice opinions about the website being not very good. Why on earth should we be confident it always is going to display the best rate possible? Ha!
It's not always the case but sometimes my TA finds better rates or a refundable rate that's better compared to what I see on the website. Sometimes she quotes exactly what I see on the website but for someone who books a lot of cruises I can confirm the website isn't always the best price.

GlowTheWeird reacted to Sharla in Booked Direct with RC Regrets
Hi! You can transfer to an agent within 60 days of deposit and not paid in full. If you want to L&S and then transfer that's fine, or you can transfer to the agent and they can process the L&S for you. It's not a new booking if you do the L&S, it's the same booking so the 60 days starts from deposit.

GlowTheWeird reacted to S.Marie in Cruise Planner Deals for November/December 2020 cruises
@WAAAYTOOO and since these cruises are quickly approaching the 60 day countdown, I am not sure if there will be too many more big sales like this, especially if cruising begins again in November.
I am really leaning toward YOLO booking all of the items I want in hopes that our holiday cruise sails..

Watched that movie last night for the same reason -- never been on Harmony, but yeah, was just wanting to see the ship and locations -

Yup watched it last night for about the 8th time! Never been on Harmony and do hope to get the chance someday. I heard The Pena Vega's were crowned the 'Godparents' of the Symphony of the Seas! Actually I watched a video about it and apparently they cruise quite often!
Just checked my "days til cruise" and it is at 238! Hey, COVID....PLEASE GET LOST!!!! We all want to get onboard our ships and CRUISE AWAY!!!

The PenaVega's do a lot of cruise content on their YouTube channel. This is one of my favorites featuring this new unique cabin on Oasis.

I was thinking of watching the movie that was filmed when we were on the Harmony group cruise again. It wasn't a very good movie but it was fun to see the ship and some of our group being extras!

Our next ship is Harmony and it will be our first time, so I have to TIVO it!
I looked it up and this is the next showing...

GlowTheWeird reacted to Floski in Torturing myself watching Love at Sea
I was sitting here asking myself why am I watching, but I am sooooo jonesin' for a cruise.
She is such a beautiful ship. God willin' and the creek don't rise, we'll be on her in 97 days. If that falls through,
then, well, we have 188 days until we sail. But it will have been 2 years if we get to go in November, so that is my goal!

We were on board during the last few days of filming. I still have not seen the movie !

It’s on Hallmark right now. Sounds so silly but man, it hurts. ? Chops, Central Park, Boardwalk. Goofy acting but I’m only watching to see the ship.
I’m afraid I’ll burst into tears when I get to board again. I’ll be the one crying at embarkation next May lol.

GlowTheWeird reacted to Neaxan in Mein Shiff 2 at Sea!
Finally, as promised, a recap of Schiffstester Matthias Morr's conclusion video:
- Boarding times were enforced (usually TUI Cruises doesn't assign boarding times). Masks had to be worn in the terminal and in the queue in front of the terminal. Health questionnaires & temperature check for check in. B2Bs are currently not allowed.
- Muster drill: when on board you went from your cabin to your muster station. Explanations were given in small groups.
- Ship sailed at around 40% capacity (= 1200 guests), max would've been 60% (=1400 guests), 800 crew. Possible difficulties in selling the cabins might've been short notice and comparably high pricing - there were no discounts and no interior or ocean view cabins, only balcony & suites.
- Crew was quarantined on ship 14 days prior to the first cruise. They were very happy to be back working. Crew have to wear masks or face shields while working in contact with passengers - irrespective of social distancing.
- Every passenger had to do a daily temperature check by infrared camera. Hand washing and use of disinfectant was enforced.
- Masks were only mandatory where you couldn't keep a distance of at least 1.5 metres (about 5 feet). Masks were provided in the cabin on arrival, people with medical exemptions had to use face shields (not provided).
- No seats at the bar - either service at a table or queuing with social distancing (TUI has waaaaay more waiters at bars compared to Royal, so not a problem). Buffet was available, but no self service. Also no full show ensemble, only solo performances. No party (sail away, pool party etc.). Sauna is currently closed but this might change soon. Whirlpools could only be used by members of the same travel group at a time.
- Audience: younger than TUI's normal average, apparently no first time cruisers, many regular customers of other cruise lines (mainly AIDA and MSC)
- Staggered disembarkation times were enforced (usually no assigned times).
- Most important: no cases of COVID were reported!
"Fun" facts:
- A few German media companies contacted passengers to try and get pictures of passengers not obeying social distancing rules. That's the state of the German press for you...
- Mein Schiff 2 met with Mein Schiff 4 and Mein Schiff 6 while at sea - a bit like the meeting of the 3 sisters (Oasis, Harmony and Allure).
If you've got any questions, feel free to ask. I'll try to find an answer - might be easier for me as many sources are in German only and Google translate is a train wreck.

GlowTheWeird reacted to Matt in Passports on Excursions: To take or not to take
I always take my passport off the ship in a foreign country. Like the Boy Scouts say, be prepared.
For these ports, I wouldn't actually take it off the ship for any port. Puerto Rico and St Thomas are US Territories, so I can fly home without a passport.
Coco Cay and Labadee are foreign countries, but I think chances of being left behind at private islands is nearly non-existant.

GlowTheWeird reacted to Ray in Jetblue: Credit where it"s due
With so much negativity being directed at all travel companies for how they are behaving during these unprecedented times, some of which is well deserved its only correct that when a company does things correctly its noted.
Jetblue changed the time of my flight from JFK to San Juan and it messed up my timings, now chances are cruise will be cancelled and i would have had to cancel anyway,
So i contacted them by chat on their App, no waiting or fuss just straight down to how they could assist.
Was offered a FULL cash refund or 125% in future credit that lasts 18months, i took the cash refund and was informed it would be in my bank within 10 to 14 working days.
4 days it took for full refund to appear in my bank.
Hats off to Jetblue a smaller airline showing the Big Boys how it should be done
