kuruczpa reacted to WannaCruise in CoCo Cay Pricing Getting Ridiculous
Anyone else find that pricing is just going up and up at CoCO Cay?  As an example, the waterpark tickets on Anthem is $150 CAD.  Seriously???  We probably hit a record (not one you want to get).  I guess my Harmony cruise is a deal at $131 CAD.
We're fortunate that we booked awhile ago for Anthem and Mariner, but we won't be getting the waterpark going forward (not yet booked on Harmony - we will enjoy the pool and beach that day).
And then, never mind about the cabanas at $2660 CAD for the floating one.

I just bought the key too, again, we were getting voom, nice lunch when we board instead of lining up for the buffet, having not to drag my wine, soda, carry on around till the rooms ready! Plus can board early, not wait in lines, breakfast and off the ship when you want, etc the math works, got the $16.99.

Good point! We are going on our first cruise and are 28 and 25 so the rock climbing and flow rider times will be good for us since we will want to do those activities.

Couldnt help but notice you only joined this RC blog 23hrs ago, presumably just to complain and vent your anger at anyone who will listen!!
Now you dont say who told you to cruise RC but it wasnt on here so im at a loss as to why you join here to let of steam?
It's a shame you didnt bother to join here before you cruised because if you had then you would have found the most honest, friendly and helpful bunch of people going, with vast knowledge of all things RC.
So you would have found out everything you needed to know about JOTS.
    BUT YOU DIDNT!!!!!!!
So if your cruise wasnt up to what you expected thats not RC Blogs fault it's your own for not doing the necessary research before cruising.
Given the fact you can remember Billy Bultin i can only presume you are more of an Ena Sharples ???

With all due respect, your comments say you want feedback, but also says you certainly won’t be going again. Sounds like your mind is made up already.  So I’m not sure what feedback would be helpful for you. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it. Most people on this site love Royal Caribbean so I’m not sure what you expect us to say.

IMO all holidays/vacations are subject to your expectations, it seems like they did not meet your expectations, so sorry to hear that. I have been cruising for 20 years on 3 different companies and 8 different ships I would say cruising is the best holiday, but not for everyone. Each company I cruised with offered different things and different types of cruises, so I dont have a favourite.

kuruczpa reacted to CD&RW in Beware- Chill Island Cabana Poor Service
I rented a Chill Island CabanaIt for 6 of us on a girls trip.  This was a few weeks after the hurricane and seaweed was an issue in front of the cabanas.  The excursion dest did alert us to this and said if we did not want to keep the cabana they would refund.  There were people cleaning up the seaweed all day.  The cabana itself is nice, spacious and plenty of seating.  There is a cooler stocked with water when you arrive.  The service was a huge disappointment and really put a damper on our day.  We all purchased the drink package, one main reason was for Coco Cay.  When we ordered drinks it took the cabana attendant (Henry) at least 20-30 minutes to bring drinks back and he disappeared for long periods of time, 30-45 minutes, leaving us empty drinks.  At one point a couple of us asked for another round after we finally got our second drink hoping he might return by the time we were ready for another.  He never brought  those drinks.  We started to walk over to a nearby bar to get our own drinks.  The first time at the bar, one of the girls in our group asked if we could order drinks  there, explaining we had a cabana and the bartender said "yes, this is the bar that services your cabana person".  Later when Henry checked in on us we ordered 2 vodka drinks and brought whiskey drinks.  We questioned the color and he told us it was vodka peach tea drink (I ordered vodka soda), it was whiskey.  It took another 30 minutes to get the correct drinks, so we had to fetch our own.   On the last round he brought my drink had bleach on the outside of the cup.  When I went to take a drink I smelled it at the same same I felt it on my lips.  We went to the bar again to get a replacement drink and one of the girls commented on the amount of flies and the bartender said the seaweed, brought in by the storm, attracted the flies but they were wiping everything down with bleach.  That is when we said I had bleach on the outside of my glass.  He just looked at us like, yeah and so?  Henry served us drinks 4-5 times in 5.5 hours, so he was not around a lot, but he made sure he was right there as we were packing up at 3:30.  He was very nice but his service was horrible.  Saturday was a day at sea because we could not dock at Grand Bahamas and this cruise was the only one that was not rerouted to Nassau so this was our only land day.  So with that and the cost of renting the cabana we were extremely disappointed.  I stopped by the Shore Excursion desk and explained all this and they told us the cabana attendants have to go way across the island, so that is why it took so long.  That contradicted what the bartender told us.  We are headed back in February and will not rent another cabana.

I'm sorry, Corona is not beer, it's flavored water.
I admit that I'm a beer snob.  I like my beers strong and full of flavor.  On the topic, the one let down with RCL is their beer selection, fairly generic.  But they have to please a larger crowd, so I go with the flow and find the best that I can, usually end up with Blue Moon.  At least the Pub has some things to pick from.
Given that my upcoming sail is out of Boston, it would be great if they could stock up on some New England based beers like Sam Adams and Harpoon.  I've been on one sailing that had Sam Lager.  Halfway through the week, I was told that I had made quite a dent in their stock.  I'm not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

Not that I recall. He's just a plastic cart loaded with ice and drinks, a rolling cooler of sorts in the Windjammer LOL. The real bars will have limes of course.

The very first thing I do once on-board is head straight for the Windjammer. The second thing I do (before finding a table) is find the man with the beer cart. Nothing says brunch like an ice cold corona!

Right now the UDP is $81 CDN a day! How crazy is that. For two people (including tax and gratuities) it comes to around $1,500. We managed to get the deal of the century and saved close to $1,000. Jeeze....

I booked our first cruise ever for this past July last December,  watched the cruise planner almost every day and bought the key for $19.99 and the deluxe beverage package for $49 plus gratuities on Symphony.  I just booked a May 2020 cruise today on harmony today (thanks Stehpanie from MEI) and the key is $37.99 and the deluxe beverage package is $65 before gratuities.  No way I'll pay those prices, so I will be stalking the cruise planner for sure.
