Just booked a cruise for my mom and I for next April.  Our birthdays are 12 days apart.  She'll be 75 next year and I'll be 50. We're celebrating with a Mother/Daughter birthday trip to Cozumel on the Brilliance!  I'm so excited to start exploring these boards again!!!

am i the only one who wishes I had the time and a bit of extra money now to go on one of the cruises that people are now NOT going on?  do you think they'll drop prices to try to get others to cruise as people cancel?

I have said it in a couple of conversations recently in regards to cruising.
I have absolutely no concern about Coronavirus itself, from all accounts medically it is basically "harmless" to me .. I do not have a compromised immune system so its basically the common cold. 
I do have concern about getting stranded in quarantine for weeks because everyone else is freaking out about it.
So indirectly i do have a concern about Coronavirus not because its dangerous but because it could get me quarantined.

?‍♀️  I only wish I had the time off to take advantage the cheaper last minute pricing.

Who wouldn't want to have a better cabin for the same price? It's like a RoyalUp without a bid or additional cost! Sign me up!

I would think we will be seeing more of this at least in the near future.

for the industry, yes...however...selfishly, think of the half full ships to sail on and the deals the cruise lines will offer to get them back on board. Sign me up!
 
Regardless...not to minimize what's going on...everyone in my area seems to be losing their minds...you can't get toilet paper anywhere right now...I'm glad we buy bulk at Sams.

I think i follow...This has happened several times, where someone apparently signs on, writes a negative/ranting review/throws a tantrum then logs off never to be seen again.  Probably just someone stirring the pot.  But there is always a "good" discussion that follows.  It is good to talk through things.  As long as we all remember, which I think we do a good job of, that it's very difficult to read someones motives/intent/heart when typing on a computer/phone/tablet. 
I think @Matt and lots of others do a great job facilitating at times like this.  I'm glad this forum is here to help us all plan and have good vacations.

@Neo  We are absolutely the very same... I could have written this.
I also think vacationing is very subjective and relative.  We all travel/vacation for different reasons, we all have varying WAYS we like to vacation...heck, even MY OWN vacations are all different.  We've done lots of "vacations" over the years and (maybe it's my age and the fact that we will be empty-nesters soon) we are really enjoying cruising.  For the money and the time and the ports and the...everything.  We researched and read this blog and talked to LOTS of friends and family who have cruised, RC and other cruise lines, and decided that RC makes the most sense to us for when we CAN vacation and get to choose a cruise over something else.
Perks, for me anyway, are just that...perks.  Not requirements for me to continue or discontinue cruising.  I'm gonna cruise anyway, and if I get a perk/free drink/etc...yay!  If not, I'm still cruising.

Seriously tho, how long of a cruise is it?  What kinds of things do you usually like to do? 

Personally, we have only done specialty dining on one longer cruise. We also enjoy the MDR.  Take that refund and do something else!  upgrade to a suite!   do an excursion!

I had Hugo on Mariner last November LOVE him! My guess is he stay with whatever ship is doing 3-4 night sailings out of Miami since he speaks Spanish...

With a booked B2B on Empress my ports don't repeat.
With a booked B2B on Navigator my ports repeat, a double dip to CocoCay and Nassau. 
With a booked Oasis class B3B I'll do Eastern Caribbean, Western Caribbean and then Eastern Caribbean again.  This includes three visits to their private destination. I've been to all the ports before so it doesn't matter.  Pricing was good, reduced solo supplement so 21 days on a ship.  Why not?
I also have a side-to-side or S2S booked.  Take a cruise, debark and move to another ship the same day.  
If I'm spending money on an airplane ticket I might as well do two cruises.
The best part of a B2B is seeing this...

...and knowing you don't have to pack.  

The #1 problem solved is the fact that most cruises are too short.  
For someone who has to fly to a cruise a B2B saves airfare compared to taking two distinct cruises.
B2B allows you to unpack and unwind.  You don't need to take in every show because you can catch one on the next cruise.  
Cruises are great but if you try to do everything offered in one cruise you may end up exhausted and need a vacation from your vacation.  
Take Oasis class.  It's hard to participate in everything offered during a 7 night cruise.  More often than not you have to pick something but miss out on something else.  When you go a B2B you can do some things on one cruise and different things on the next.  Really enjoyed one show?  See it again!
B2B also lets you try different things in repeated ports while exposing you to new ports that are not common to both itineraries.  One visit you can go to a beach and relax, the repeat visit you can go on an ATV or tubing in a cave or you can stay on the ship and enjoy the ship empty of most guests.  
B2B solves the FOMO issue while leaving even more time to relax.
B2B also means one more week of not doing the dishes, cooking or cleaning.  
I have a B3B booked.  Three cruises in a row on the same ship.  B2B is cool, B3B is the next level.  

@andy keep in mind the Refreshment package includes the specialty coffees at Cafe Promenade, bottled water, fresh squeezed OJ at breakfast also... ?

Not sure this is a question for a cruise site....sounds more like an attitude and discipline question...if they wont do what you ask or want them to do when it comes to putting on a pair of pants...my god.......
