  1. We took our 6 & 7 year olds on Liberty last fall and they loved all of the adventure ocean stuff they brought home. They also had a blast decorating the room with the streamers they collected from the dream works parade!
  2. Looking for fall17 or spring 18 trip for the entire family. Really want to take the kids to an oasis class ship in FL (loved Liberty with them this fall) but For the price of the travel to FL the wife and I can usually grab another full week in Galveston. TOO MANY decisions.
  3. We use Zip ties and/or built in locks on ours as well. Especially for disembarkation while they sit in the hall for hours with no one around. If they need inside during check in they will usually call you. We have visited the holding room several times. Once they verify there is nothing prohibited inside they will usually deliver it to your room for you. It's a simple process, but watch out for the drunken grandpa or Barbie wife, they tend to get a bit pissy when being told no and their stuff is removed!
  4. Very good point! We do the same thing with driving to the ports. We Libe one day's driver from both Galveston and New Orleans and have had to alter changes in plans several times due to winter weather between here and there. Same goes for the return trips. Have backup plans. Several years ago we were trying to fly back home when Atlanta and Dallas had freak winter storms so we got "snow delayed" in sunny Ft Lauderdale. That was hard to explain to the boss.
  5. (Dream music playing in background) If I were in charge for a day... Step 1: podcast listeners get suites for interior pricing... Step 2: Soft serve machines in every elevator waiting area on each floor... Step 3: Sabor on every ship immediately, and half price for those amazing podcast folks.
  6. Free drinks that you mentioned are an option all the time in a variety of locations. Ice Cream (or the equivalent) is usually available during the day from the soft serve machines and at dinner in the dining room. The machines are a bit different in each ship being either on the pool deck or inside the windjammer. For sure a great part of every sailing for me as I can't often resist a cone when passing by!
  7. It is so hard to really know what we are trying to fix without the facts of the individual cases. While they are both horrific situations, with only 2 known events in a year I think things are going very well. In general I am not a proponent of the lifeguards as they seem to encourage parents to let their guard down when it's truly their job to ensure the safety of their kidos. Either way prayers to these families and those who helped them, I can't even begin to imagine.
  8. It varies on where you want to sail from. Usually by the time you get to day 2 or 3 it's nice and warm. Not summer hot, but if you are acclimated to winter even 60* feels pretty darn good. We usually find ourselves taking jeans and a fleece just in case you have a cool night on the ship but overall it's kind of like early fall weather and either way it is so much better than this weeks cold US forcast. As a tip... Be sure to pack warm stuff to return home to. Kinda stinks leaving warm Florida in shorts and getting home to winter without clothes for the season.
  9. Hi everyone. My name is Brent and I am from OK. My wife and I are long time RCCL fans and are currently five days short of reaching Diamond+. We are both big fans of the podcast and the page. They are both very well done with lots of great info and people interacting and sharing such wonderful information. Thanks Matt for all the work.
