It just dropped on my app.  It is the same as everyone stated. The problem for me is I have to be cognizant of the menu during the cruise because many of the dishes are served in the CK too. As much as I like the scallop carpaccio or the soup I don't want to have it twice within the week.  Entrees won't be an issue bc I will just order veal, lamb or duck in the CK.
I noticed too that its basically all white wine.  No problem... I don't drink reds.  Hubby will be disappointed.  However, the salted caramel martini will ease his pain!

Its just a place holder for them on the 1st day.  You can go wherever and as often as you want.
My husband goes right after working out in the a.m. we go together @lunch.  Port days at a beach we go straight there to use the rain shower.

    Here's the thing @TheMaxRebo
Many of the areas are free beaches and the pool.  Nobody is forcing anyone to pay anything.
In reality it is an excursion just like Bermuda or Cozumel.  You do what you want.
Impo that's how they are seeing it.  They are giving you a free beach with the same things, food and drinks as if you were on the ship at sea!
Do you feel that charging for the specialty restaurants on board are wrong?  If not how is this any different?  The passengers are paying for a specialty.

Its really easy to know when their ready just watch the massive flow of people leaving every area, such as WJ, bars, the pool etc.  They lock the hallways to the cabin and everybody stands  right outside them so if you miss the flow of people you won't miss the crowds there.

We go multiple times.  We always have a balcony and enjoy eating there.
    This is our usual practice.
    Morning:
We order the free continental breakfast.  One of us runs up to the WJ.  We get omelettes, hash browns and bacon and bring it back to the cabin.
    Dinner:
We eat late.  So I run up and make plates as soon as WJ opens .  1 is deli meats, Breads, pasta salads veggies, etc...basically things to nosh on while we get ready.  We hit one of the bars and get a cocktail to take back to the cabin.
The second plate is always a bowl .... It fits easier in the mini cooler.  I get things that I enjoy cold, such as, fried chicken or Mongolian noodles.  Desserts in a cup.  We do this bc we aren't fans of Sorrentos pizza and the lines after the shows.  Instead we just go to our cabin and watch the sea .
I have never been able to eat a full meal regardless be it mdr, do or specialty.  I get them to give me the dessert to go.  I just leave a note on the dish so the attendant won't clear it away.

Royal is gonna drop the ball if they start nickel and diming cruisers on top of the high prices and low to no perks included with their cruises.

I mean...if I book a cruise and I cant eat after 9pm unless I pay for it....that's NOT how cruising has ever been.

First it was midnight buffets gone..then you had to pay for room service to eat, now you wont be able to get a slice of pizza without paying for it....

I talk, read, study almost daily the cruise industry....Royal cant keep going like this.

    I just took the survey.
That being said charging for Sorrentos with its current quality is akin to them planning what to replace it with.  As a NJ couple we laugh because in essence its on par with Little Caesars.  That's not pizza its cardboard with tomato sauce and cheese!!
Pay for it? No way in hades!
I have to say as someone that does suites I hate the Lavazza and the quality of the robes.  I have 5 yr old hands towels that are softer than those robes. We own a Nespresso and a Kuerig  I would prefer those over the Lavazza.
I repeatedly ranked them as the least.

    We always buy insurance
we fly out 1st thing the day before.  Iows 1st flight at 7 a.m. we are on it.
We also buy it for a different reason.  My cousin sailing the Caribbean got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom.  Coming back to bed she hit it and the way she fell she broke her hip (she was in her late 50s)  they had to helo her out to Jamaica.

We absolutely love it.   It is really designed Luke a spa environment.  Its dark lighting with spa music.  The rain shower is amazing.
We actually go directly to the spa as soon as we come back to the ship to use the shower...even when we have a suite with a real shower...not the tube.  Started doing it to avoid the elevator crush.
We also would go midday on sea days right before going to lunch.
Make sure you remember to get the scrub.

150 for us.  Love the ambiance.  Love the wellington.  Love the service.  It doesn't feel rushed. The staff pays attention to you.  Every time we have gone when they bring out our apps they bring out another app they think we might like.  I am not a big eater...happy meals fill me up.  I rarely ever eat dessert bc I am too full. They were the only restaurant that actually packed me a to go dish of dessert to eat later.
Chops for us has become closer to a steakhouse chain, unfortunately not even close to a Ruth Chris or McCormick and Schmidts.
We had unlimited dining on Symphony.  Had lunch and dinner there.  Both meals felt not only did the quality go down but the service too.  In other words it wasn't a 1 off situation.
Also felt because its 1 of the most popular Royal is putting as many tables in there to be just below fire requirements.  You could hear conversations from every table next to yours.  Even got the pleasure of hearing a party of ten sitting 15 feet away talking the entire dinner.  Again it becomes the fact the tables are so close you naturally start talking louder because you're hearing the table next to you
Take a table outside and you will enjoy it.

I will be going on Utopia BUT NOT until 2025 bc I want to go to the new resort in Nassau!  Royal has resort style down pat.  I can't believe that the Bahamas will be hands down amazing.
And yes without a doubt like all of pur sailings I will use a TA so I won't miss out!
2024 cruise is booked along with land vacations!

Pima1988 got a reaction from asquared17 in Should I stick with Coastal Kitchen?
We did a JS on Symphony last month so we purchased the unlimited knowing that we were  it guaranteed CK.  The food, ambiance and service was beyond compare, except for CP 150 impo.
We ate at Hooked for lunch 1 day with reservations for dinner 2 nights later.  Ate at CK the night before.  As soon as lunch was over we went to CK and cancelled our Hook dinner replacing it for CK.
There is always the conversation which restaurant does the steak better....chops or CK.  Purposefully we ordered the steak at CK the night before our Chops reservation.  CK won hands down
Ate at Jamies too. If I decide on our next cruise to eat at a specialty it would only be there over the CK. Their hand made pasta is excellent.  However, I do like the atmosphere better in the CK.
Atmosphere is just as important to me as the food.  We avoid the mdr because the tables are so close that sometimes you feel like you could ask them to pass their salt shaker and they wouldn't even have to extend their ar!m completely.  Now imagine a large group next to you and the volume of voices while you are trying to enjoy your dinner.  In the CK it was never packed and we ate at 6:30
I also agree everyday we saw something on the menu that was definitely from a specialty restaurant with a variance of the side dish.  Ie  burrata cheese appetizer is from Jamies.  Branzino is from Chops.  Duck was  CP 150.  I think we also had the scallop cerviche which is also a 150 item. So for us, it eliminated the need to do specialty.
Finally, by going every night you get to build a relationship with your waiter.  Our waiter knew when we came in what drink we would have with dinner and our after dinner drink.  Hubby and I drink different things.  He even paid attention to the fact we didn't ever eat 1 particular type of bread so he always removed it and gave us the ones we thoroughly enjoyed.  When I told him i am too full to eat dessert he came back with 2 desserts with a dome covered plate and said take it back to your cabin. He did that every night for me.

We always dress up.  It has become a tradition that we love, we call it our date night.  We always book a balcony or above.  We stop at WJ to pick up some food to pick on, like bread, cheese, meats, etc.  Than get a drink from the closest bar and take it back to our cabin.
He gets ready while I hang out. When he is done he will go on the balcony.  I close the curtains so when I open it again I am ready.
To us its part off what makes it feel like a formal night.
I take 2 different dresses, but same shoes. 1 is the dress I wore to my daughters wedding...a high low....cut at the knee in the front down to the ankle in back.  The other is my go to for every wedding.   My hubby takes 1 dark suit and 2 shirts with 2 different ties.
Luggage to me is no biggie.  If I am driving it doesn't matter if I have 1 or 2 suitcases.  If I am flying the fact is we have spent so much money on the vacation we are not going to quibble about paying 25 to 50 bucks for checking luggage.
