Just got back from Coco Cay and yes I found the ground very hard to walk on. For one thing the sun just scorches everything and the sand down there is not a fine powder but more of a coarse mix with some shells. Then again I have high arches so that can increase the pain.

You can not wear flip-flops on the water slides.  They make you take them off and hold them in your hands as you go down the water slide.  Those that wore a tight fitting thin soled water shoe were allowed to keep them on.  I wish I had known this before going to CocoCay, as I would have definitely got some thin water shoes to wear continuously.
The paver brick paths you walk on are not bad, and the sand had small bits of sharp coral in it.  I would have greatly appreciated having thin water shoes to walk all around Thrill waterpark.

If you scroll down to the bottom and click the "Get more details on ships we support"  you will get a listing of ships.  Select the ship for your cruise and it will show future sail dates that you can use.  It seems like you have to be within a certain number of cruises of your sailing.  For example, Mariner cruises only lists through July 5 but Harmony is through August 18 since Mariner is doing two cruises per week and Harmony only once a week.

Do what makes you happy. It's your vacation and you're paying for it. If you want to sit on your balcony for 7 days and never leave, go for it. If you want to spend every minute possible off of the ship in the ports, go for it. Plenty of people do both, and most have a great time.

That's why I never bother staying onboard. It's depressing enough knowing you have to get off, but nothing to do? I'd rather be on my way.

Thanks for the quick reply :) it will be my kids first cruise ever and my wife and I's second (yes the first was on a carnival ship). We are super excited for this trip :). Hoping this cruise goes well for my family so I can convince them to make this an annual event :) I have the cruise bug and need them to get the bug too :)

Outlets were not changed during the refresh.
They remain two North American 110v outlets and one European power port 220v at the desk/makeup area with a shaving outlet in the bathroom.

To echo Kayla, don't over plan, but do some planning. Harmony is by far our favorite ship, but we did find that things we wanted to do were already fully booked ahead of time. Take some time and review the cruise planner and reserve things you know you want to do. Also, it's worth seeing about reserving seats at some of the main shows since they do tend to fill up. Some other thoughts:
    - Park Cafe in Central Park on deck 8 is a hidden gem and is fully included with your on-board dining
    - if you have kids, make sure to check out the kids area (Deck 15, forward?), there is a free Fisher Price play area for the younger ones. They also have day/night care you can pay by the hour for like $7/hour I think.
    - Harmony is one of the only ships that has an escape room. it's right near the kids area and was fully booked when we went to go reserve, so get it early if you're into that sort of thing.
Which eastern ports are you heading to? As of last summer, St. Maarten/St. Martin was still pretty torn up from hurricane damage.

Don't over plan! There are a ton of things to do on that class of ship, but don't stress yourselves out trying to make sure you see and do everything. Enjoy the journey!
Also, plan to board early on embarkation day. When you check in it'll SAY that you have a time (usually after 11 AM), but you can arrive at the port as early as 10 AM on embarkation day and be on board as early as 10:30 AM (as long as the previous sailing has cleared customs and is all disembarked). Then you can get to enjoying your first day straight away while the ship is still a little bit empty. ?

I would like to piggyback on the Original posters questions. What time do the slides normally open during embarkation day? If we get there at 10a are they normally open around then or soon thereafter?
