Later I saw the clouds break and found the Milky Way in the sky.
Hours after sunset it's amazing how much the sun is revealed in a long exposure picture.

Dinner in Coastal Kitchen
Not a huge fan of the QR code menus. Something about holding a menu and looking it over. Oh well, it is what it is.
Caesar salad.
Filet night!
Back to my cabin just in time for sunset.

The Cruise Junkie reacted to smokeybandit in Test Cruises
They better not continue the test cruise requirement. They're an absolute waste of time to begin with, especially for a crew that's already been sailing with protocols for months

The Cruise Junkie reacted to twangster in Odyssey of the Seas in Pictures - Sept. 2021
eMuster is so easy and quick I forgot to take pictures. Into an elevator:
Elevators have UV sanitizers.
As we moved closer to sail away I noticed these reminders showing up on some people's doors.
Beverage packages on board.
Playmakers. What a view.
Water fountains closed for protocols.
As sail away commenced I went up to the Solarium. Move on the solarium later, here are some quick pics as I moved around the ship.
Art imitating life. Very realistic.
On her sisters this pool is covered. Since Odyssey is meant to sail more often in warmer waters this pool has been opened to the sky.
Main pool deck area.

The Cruise Junkie reacted to RockerDom31 in Removed from RCG
I watched bits and pieces of this episode and it made me wonder what exactly would she have wanted to happen? To let her just go back on the ship and pretend that she didn’t test positive?
I think Royal Caribbean did the responsible thing. Maybe it did get a little fumbled along the way (if what the person reported was indeed true) but at the end of day, this person did test positive and RC had no other choice but to discharge her from the ship (and as far as I can tell from the video, the crew did so with politeness and respect).
Call me crazy but if I tested positive for Covid, my first thought would be of the health and safety of me, my family, and my friends and not “Royal Caribbean is out to get me!! Let me turn on Facebook live”

The Cruise Junkie reacted to twangster in The Must-Wear-a-Face-Mask Protocol for vaccinated passengers
Regardless who is to blame I cancelled my Odyssey August cruise this morning because of the mask requirements.
By cancelling now Royal has over 40 days to find a willing participant and that participant has 40+ days to plan their cruise, find something to do in port, get time off work, etc. Seemed like the fair thing to do for everyone involved as cancelling 72 hours before the cruise would screw Royal, make it harder to resell my cabin on short notice and if they were able to sell my cabin that person would have no time to plan anything or buy anything in the cruise planner.
Maybe by September the mask requirement will be gone. If not I've got another decision to make in a few weeks.

The Cruise Junkie reacted to ConstantCruiser in Close call (Covid) on Adventure with happy ending!
Very nearly but didn't - because of the protocols that worked. The failed quick test was followed up by a more reliable PCR test. Those are the protocols.

The Cruise Junkie reacted to Jill in Close call (Covid) on Adventure with happy ending!
Whew! Good point to not automatically freak out! Just read this in a Facebook group:
Thought of the day, DO NOT PANIC! We are beginning to wind down our amazing cruise on Adventure of the Seas with Royal Caribbean. We departed from Nassau Bahamas on Saturday and have enjoyed a very relaxing time. One requirement of re-entry to the United States is a negative Covid test. Royal Caribbean International is currently offering this service to all passengers departing from the Bahamas.
We took our tests this morning and went on about our day at sea heading to Freeport as our last port of call. The testing process was very simple by signing up via an email. We were in and out in under 8 minutes. Woohoo. Cocktail time with our favorite bartender in Schooner Lounge with some 90’s Trivia.
A few minutes into trivia, some ship’s officers showed up and spoke to Tim for a moment and he said he was going to the cabin. I was a bit puzzled until another officer approached me. He said Tim’s Covid test was positive and he needed to go back to our quarters. I was simply blown the $&@) away! I dashed right up to the cabin. Tim confirmed what they said and we both were in shock. Here we are on a full day at sea, hundreds of miles from home, and totally freaking. 15 minutes later a guy from medical shows up to perform a PCR test, the one that takes a sample of your brain according to Tim.
The phone rang while we were waiting. I answered and the voice on the other end said he was chief of security. I put Tim on and he walked him through some things on his phone to set up contract tracing. I’m still freaking that we are going to be confined to our cabin, or confined to medical. F$&@!!! OMG we are going to be on the news!
I finally checked my email and my results were negative. Woohoo! I can make a mad dash to the bar for a cocktail before they can catch me. I wasn’t even told to stay in the room. I get to the bar and order drinks. A few minutes later Tim shows up. Omg, he broke out of jail. I just knew they would find him and make him walk the plank. Luckily the results of his PCR test came back NEGATIVE! What a sigh of relief.
Moral of the story, stay calm and DO NOT PANIC! We can’t thank Royal Caribbean International for taking amazing care of us during an extremely emotional time. Loyal to Royal!

This morning we checked out of the Oyster bay resort and boarded the ship! Pictures below.
I'd recommend the Oyster Bay resort. The room was small, but well decorated and comfortable.
The boarding experience went better than I expected. They had a small warehouse set up for check in. It was air conditioned and had someone playing steel drums. They also gave out citrus water. So all was comfortable.
With only 500 or so people on this cruise, the ship feels more like a museum than a cruise. I've seen more crew members than passengers! Anyway, everyone is excited to be back on the ship.
The muster drill was much easier now that we have Emuster. However, they had to make several announcements to make sure everyone checks in at their station.
The complementary internet is surprisingly slow. It makes uploading pictures difficult and video is out of the question. If you need something better, you'll have to upgrade to the stream package.
In other news, Rhapsody of the Seas and Vision of the seas are docked along side our ship. It's great to see them again, but they need a good coat of paint.
