  1. If you go here , Richard Fain talks about it in the video, and Matt writes about the vaccine protocol in the blog post. I totally understand needing to see it with your own eyes. There has been a lot of "i heard x is happening" lately! And, as someone mentioned above, anything could still happen, but this is what the plan is currently.
  2. RCL has stated that they are not going to go the 98/95 route, which is why they have to do test cruises. They are still requiring all eligible passengers to be vaccinated, though. I’m so sorry about your cruise! What a disappointment.
  3. Do we know yet how long it needs to be between a test cruise and a paying cruise? Has actual information about that been shared yet?
  4. Yep! I stalk her location every morning to see if she's moved yet. ? I am hoping that because it is just a technical dry dock, she won't be over there for too long.
  5. He has since removed the ship names, but Brian Leavitt has posted this on his Instagram and Facebook feed. I know that this doesn't help me to figure out how long it will all take to get Symphony back up and running, but I will take any good news!
  6. This is great news! And, I didn't even think about that. He would be happy eating bread, and then grabbing something from the Windjammer or Sorrento's afterwards. Thank you so much!
  7. @tonyfsu21 I wanted to ask a question about this! My two kids (daughter will be 11, son will be 10) will be coming to most specialty restaurants with us on our Symphony cruise. We got the UDP, and are really excited about it. We plan to eat our meals together, and I'm a little concerned about my son. He is a genuinely picky eater (PBJ every. single. day. since the age of 3), and I'm concerned that even some of the kids menus will be too "adventurous" for him. I don't want to be a problem customer, but if we wanted to go to Wonderland or 150 CP, would they be able to get him something super basic (chicken fingers, burger, pizza, pasta with meatballs, etc.) or is that putting me in the category of a real pain in the.....? My daughter is willing to try new things, and likes a lot of what I've seen on the menus, so I'm not concerned about her.
  8. Gotcha! I guess I was thinking that because the letter from the CDC said that they were approved to sail on June 20, that they would be jumping right on in on that date. That's too bad that they will have to wait 2 weeks past the approval date to begin the test cruises. Also, I hope they notify the people booked on FotS from Cape Liberty for early July really quickly. I feel bad if this is how they are finding out that their cruises might not happen!
  9. The test cruise is approved for June 20, I believe, not July. Can anyone remind me how long it takes after the test cruise is complete for the approval to come through for revenue cruises? And, is it still the case (so far) that each ship needs to be approved for a test cruise prior to a revenue cruise? If June 20 is the first test cruise, and each ship will need to go through this, it does seem tricky for many early (at least) July cruises to get the go ahead. Still moving in the right direction with some more solid news here!!
  10. My understanding is that Royal is requiring all eligible passengers to be vaccinated, right? Maybe they are doing the test cruises to make sure that children under 12 can cruise, without having to limit them to less than 5% of the passengers? (The rule is still that 95% of passengers need to be vaccinated in order to avoid test cruises, right?) I'm thinking that an Oasis class ship over the summer, even at 50% capacity, could have more than 5% (150-ish) of its passengers made up of children under 12. I also agree with the idea that they are testing all the new procedures that will be put in place when sailing resumes. I'm just happy that there seems to be bits of positive news every day!
  11. This is all great news! Not sure if it will speed up the ability to get things moving from Florida, but it's progress! I knew I could count on you to find the details. Thank you!
  12. I just saw this on Facebook. Anyone know what the updates are? I don't want to get my hopes up.
  13. I'm going with August 1st purely because I'm hoping to be on Symphony on 8/14. ? I do think they will be working like crazy to save some of the summer sailings. This is the first time I am allowing myself to be even mildly optimistic.
  14. I had mild symptoms (lethargic, mild aches) with my second Moderna shot. My husband, however, was down for the count from about hour 15 after vaccination through the next 20 or so hours. He said the side effects left as quickly as they came, though, so fingers crossed you feel some relief soon!!
  15. Has lift and shift still consistently been an option for canceled cruises? We have an August cruise on Symphony from Miami that we got a great deal on. I would absolutely prefer to lift and shift to next summer if it gets canceled, but I'm nervous that option won't be available the longer this all drags on.
  16. Early morning - speciality coffee, bottle of water Morning - Maybe a mimosa or bloody mary, bottle of water Lunch - Vodka soda or gin on the rocks with lime Afternoon - more clear liquor and bottles of water Later afternoon - espresso Dinner - Red wine and/or a martini After dinner - whiskey on the rocks or a bourbon manhattan and more water When I type that all out, it sounds like a lot! ?
  17. I noticed that as well. The DBP and UDP were no less than the previous sales for my (fingers crossed) 7 night Symphony cruise next August, and a number of excursions were significantly higher. I had already booked most of my excursions during a previous sale, and I'm glad I did. I'm on a port-heavy cruise, so if I have to stay on the ship in Roatan, that's okay with me. I will just be happy to be cruising!
  18. I checked my 8/21 Symphony cruise this morning at 8:00 and the price was $71. I saw some chatter on my sailing date facebook group so checked again at 11:30, and it was already sold out and back at $71. So frustrating, but I'm going to hope that it is a sign of more good sales to come? Maybe?
  19. This is VERY helpful. There are just 4 of us, so it would be more per person, but what you describe does sound pretty spectacular! Very tempting, and something to think about!
  20. This is all very helpful, thank you! I figured we benefited from booking well before the water park opened on our last cruise. I will likely book now, and then continue to watch cruise planner closely. I'm still watching the UBP every day!
  21. Hi, all! I'm scheduled for Symphony in August 2021, and Coco Cay water park has not moved from $79/pp on the cruise planner. The last cruise I was on, I was able to get the passes for $40/pp because we booked before it had opened (cruised in August 2019, purchased on Black Friday, 2018). Does anyone have advice about what a decent price is these days? I know I can always purchase and then cancel, but I'm hesitant to do that with the way refunds are going right now. Thanks so much!
  22. I am definitely holding out hope for Black Friday! That's great to know about Odyssey. This is my first time on an Oasis class/newer ship, so I was nervous that maybe my expectations for a lower price were unreasonable. I know everything is kind of up in the air right now with everything going on, but I still check cruise planner at least once a day...usually more than that. Lol.
  23. I have not seen any *decent* drink package sales for our August 2021 cruise on Symphony. It went from $89 to $71, which is still too high for me. I'm really hoping that $71 is not going to be the norm for cruises next year! I was able to get the UDP for $179, which I thought was a decent price for a 7 day cruise on SOS. I stalk cruise planner every morning hoping to see a good UBP sale, but...nothing yet. Do you think there is a reasonable chance of UBP getting back to low $60s for next year?
  24. I am going on an August 2019 sailing on Adventure and I have been checking daily...deluxe beverage package is $52. We are waiting for Black Friday, hoping that something better comes up!
