  1. Sitting here in the OBX on a Sunday morning with my mimosa, pretending I'm on a cruise, catching up on RCCL news from the week...anyone else?
  2. Yep...I've been in the OBX for a week, and we have felt the effects of 3 storms...Paulette, Sally, and now Teddy. Dear 2020...enough already! (although...crappy weather at the beach beats crappy weather at home!)
  3. With a teenager-especially a girl-the value of the 2nd bathroom can not be underestimated ?
  4. MOO (my opinion only)...I think demand is going to be greater than supply, which will drive prices. There are so many people who want to get back on a ship, and have an FCC burning a hole in their pockets. Add in probable reduced capacity allowances, and I think we will see higher prices, especially once a return date is finally officially announced and all the people who have been holding off making bookings start making reservations.
  5. I am so encouraged by the European sailing success! If I could fly there right now, I'd do it just to take a cruise!
  6. Like everyone, I'm hoping for a slow return to sea beginning in November, but sadly don't think that will happen. While November would be better, I would be elated if there was a return in January!
  7. I would think this is one of the things that the healthy sailing panel will be addressing. The number of logistics they will be dealing with is truly mind boggling!
  8. not really metallic, more like rancid food <ewwww!>
  9. It's been weird...my husband and I have completely different symptoms (he had fever, congestion, and cough from day 1...1 had headache for a couple days, then fever for a couple days, then a weird taste in my mouth, then the hallmark loss of smell). This really is a bizarre virus!
  10. MOO (my opinion only)...I think that if they are allowed to sail, and the ship is at a higher capacity than whatever limit is set, we may first see offers like airlines make when they have overbooked a flight...incentives for people to take a different sailing. For example...maybe onboard credits, flight credits, cabin upgrades, etc. Just a thought...
  11. Always lock in a low price when you see one! If it does go lower between now and your cruise, you can always cancel and repurchase at the lower price.
  12. The 'Rona landed at my house 7 days ago, and I find myself watching more TV than I have since I was out of school for the summer as a teenager... This morning I found myself watching "Untold Stories of the ER", and 1 of the 3 stories they featured was a doctor aboard a cruise ship. I'd watch a whole show with that topic!
  13. I love to hear about the great interactions with RCCL staff!
  14. Hoorah for progress! It's the little things in life that keep me going right now!
  15. yep....I've got to get my morning mimosa!
  16. I've done this before when I was between cruises. I live in the Atlanta area, but am in Central Florida quite a bit (well, pre-COVID...). I routinely take the time to drive out to Port Canaveral if I'm able just to get a glimpse of my happy place.
  17. For me, it's a total escape from reality. I am blessed with a wonderful life...a husband I adore, 3 successful and independent adult children and 3 grandchidren, and amazing friends. That said, life has stress. The second I walk onto a ship, all of my worries seem to just disappear for a short time. I'm a nurturer, and having somebody else (or lots of somebodies) is such a blessing, and really rejuvenates me to come back and give my best to those in my life. I love the sound and smell of the ocean, and that my only responsibility for the duration of my cruise is to make sure that I am clean...and even if I'm not (didn't get out of the hottub in time, whatever...) someone will still graciously care for me.
  18. I completely understand! We've met some amazing people while cruising. In addition, we have some friends that we generally only get to see when we cruise together. Definitely missing them. Can't wait until we can all sail away again!
  19. To quote a dear friend of mine, this is MOO (my opinion only), but I think availability is going to be tighter next year as everyone who has had a sailing cancelled this year, or has simply initiated their own L&S due to uncertainty, rebooks for next year.
  20. It's definitely a step in the right direction, even if it's a teeny tiny step. I'll take any win at this point!!!
  21. This is what we almost always do. When we first started cruising 20 years ago, like so many people, we waaaay overpacked which necessitated using the luggage service (our hands had to be free for the duty free alcohol ? )....now, we pretty much have our packing down to a science and even for a 7 night cruise my husband and I have 1 suitcase and 1 backpack so we can walk off whenever we want. Much easier (in my opinion).
  22. That's good to see...We knew about the updated policy, but I hadn't actually seen it in action yet.
  23. Hi Pam...if you did a L&S, then unfortunately you're not eligible for the 125% OBC ?...from our TA email... Also, if you opt for a cruise fare refund or for Lift and Shift, you are not be eligible for this Cruise Planner Onboard Credit offer.
