We were booked on Liberty from Galveston last February with granddaughter but at the very last second (at airport hotel in Denmark) we got her Covid result and it was positive. Thank my lucky star for getting full coverage travel insurance! Now we will  be on the Allure this year instead!

😮  First, this is about the vendor beach representative, not Royal, not the off-ship staff, nor the transportation provider.  It is about the RUDE, INSULTING, and MENACING on site operator at Smith Bay.  Yesterday our party of four went on this excursion and upon arrival at the beach a man identifying himself as Kareem gave an orientation highlighted with pointing out the large tip jar.  The experience went downhill from there.  We waited  20 minutes for Kareem to bring lounges, yelling at one of the ladies who went to asked for promised chairs.  This was followed by him throwing three chairs down and again yelling that we had asked for three when there were four of us.  Finally he returned with a fourth chair, again throwing it down with more yelling.
After stewing about how bad the experience was, we decided to get a taxi (at our expense) back to the ship.  On learning that we wanted to leave, Kareem approached us yelling and swearing.  Yelling and becoming physically menacing, I told him twice to back off and that I wasn’t going to argue with him.  All we wanted was for them to call us a taxi.  Instead, Kareem , still yelling, said he was not going call a taxi and called his boss instead.  Continuing to yell, calling us crazy, I walked away from him and asked that the three ladies in our group to start videoing him.  At that point a taxi appeared by coincidence and we climbed in, leaving Kareem still yelling at us.
Arriving back at the Oasis, we immediately sought out the ship Excursion Manager and reported our experience.  Aiya, the Excursion Manager, took down our complaint and explained that she  would initiate an incident report through their contracting process, but didn’t know the outcome.  However, she provided us with a full refund for the excursion.
Bottom line, I recommend that cruisers going to St. Thomas avoid the Secret Sands/ Smith Bay beach excursion and the possibility of encountering this out of control employee.
 

In an earnings call recently they stated they hope to return to profitability in 2022.  Turning a profit doesn't mean they can go on a spending spree as they've got something around $30B in debt to pay off.  
No one knows when they'll pick back up on the amplification program.

I'm sorry this thread has devolved into this sort of inane back and forth snark. It's the sort of thing we've tried to weed out for years here.

"SHIP HAPPENS" As others have said, sure it stinks, but, you are still on Vacation and can find other ways to enjoy other then to complain.

We are all lucky to even be able to cruise right now, we could go back to having overpaid politicians screaming about it not being safe to be on a cruise ship and them parking the entire fleet again.
Its not just on vacation, regular everyday life has changed.  Things are constantly closed or schedules changed because of staff shortages or parts shortages.  Getting pissed doesn't change it, it just gives the few people that showed up to work that day another reason to not want to come back the next day. 
Have a drink, eat some cheesecake, enjoy the ocean views and be grateful to have another day!

I don't think anyone has said they can do no wrong, they do plenty wrong, every day - they're not perfect entities. I think the point being made by most everyone else, is that Ship happens. Planned, Unplanned. doesn't matter. It happened. Could Royal learn from their mistakes, sure! Do they, not always. To me, life is too short to worry about it. If the Solarium is closed, it's closed. Find somewhere else to go. If they run out of my favorite drink (which happens ALL the time), I'll order something else. I'm on vacation. Not doing a ship inspection. 
By the way, they don't expect top dollar from you. YOU made that choice to pay what Royal was offering. If Royal is not up to your standards, move on to something else. 
Life is too short to worry, about anything. YMMV.

Sounds like you would be happier pursuing other vacation options. Why be angry? You have nearly infinite choices.

No amount of your money was going to put a ship back into service during Covid for you to cruise on.  Thats my point, not one of us had any control over the entire situation and while you may not care about the cruise lines losing money...how many cruise ships do you own and have to pay maintenance, fuel, crew, ect....on???  You would probably care then.  Those costs transfer to the consumer.
