Crabbycruiser got a reaction from cameron7763 in New Orleans back in play
A little off topic but I noticed Enchantment was doing 2 7-night sailings from Galveston next year. If I remember correctly it was Key West, Nassau then Coco Cay. Looked like 2 weeks in a row then back to regular 4 and 5 night sailings to W. Caribbean. Thought that was interesting.

If you haven't been to the Caribbean before, I would be very cautious in the sun. You can burn incredibly quickly at those latitudes, tanned or not.

Crabbycruiser got a reaction from Al Horner in Galveston Ports of Call? Can Change Happen?
It's not really RCI's fault, in my opinion. Galveston is just geographically challenged. ?
Although I did happen to notice that next year Enchantment will be doing 2 7-night cruises, back to back, out of Galveston with stops in Key West, Nassau and Coco Cay....maybe they are testing the waters.
I live in Texas and absolutely detest air travel, so I love being able to drive down to Galveston and hop on a ship. But I don't really care so much where it's going as long as it's a cruise. ?

Is this the infamous bathroom from your Enchantment Cruise with questionable plumbing? We are in the same room on the starboard side for a September cruise. I am a little leery now after reading your live blog but hoping for the best. ?

Crabbycruiser got a reaction from ChessE4 in New Here / First Cruise
A couple of years ago on Liberty, I asked one of the pool servers if you write a tip in on the receipt does it get pooled or does it go directly to him and he told me it goes to him. So I have been doing that rather than carrying cash around in my swim trunks. Even with a drink package I always write in another 1 or 2 bucks per drink, they do remember you. And as a pool bartender on Rhapsody once told me, "The more you drink, the better you look!" ?

As for the afternoon tea, you might be thinking of another cruise line...and yes, they still do it.....but RCI has the belly flop contest...?

Can I politely recommend mixing literally anything else you can find on the ship with the vodka, instead of coke?

Crabbycruiser reacted to mbk999 in When the Empress was Queen
I found a bunch of pictures from our honeymoon cruise in 1993. We were on Premier's S/S Atlantic (one of the Big Red Boats). We were docked at Nassau at the same time as the Empress (was it the Nordic Empress at the time?). I just remember being awed by how big she was. I think the Atlantic was ~30,000 tons and their S/S Majestic was ~17,500 tons. The "Big" Red Boat is off on the right (with the life boats on the top deck). I have no idea what the little ship on the left is, I just know my wife will never get on that ship unless it was a tender vessel....
Apologies for the non-twangster image quality, a scan of a crappy 25 year old print.
