  1. I doubt that Royal Caribbean will get back to you due to privacy concerns. They guy obviously needs help. You did the right think even if you don’t hear back though
  2. I have a son who is 13 and has been diagnosed with ADHD, is borderline ODD, and is on the high functioning autism spectrum. He has been cruising with us before but it is difficult to get him engaged in the activities and the children’s programs. I would be curious if anyone else out there has any children like this and would be willing to discuss it. Thanks
  3. Yes. I went on Mariner of the Seas in July. They were taking all power strips regardless if they had a surge protector or not. They were even taking extension cords. They allow long USB cords.
  4. The problem with doing the tips on your own is that there are lots of behind the scenes people you don’t see everyday that will not get their share. People like bus boys at the windjammer, people who clean and empty the garbage, etc. Yes people usually remember their stateroom attendant and the waiter but what about every else? I wish the cruise lines would just pay them a decent wage without the tips so we wouldn’t have these tips discussions all the time but the system is the way it is. When you take the auto gratuities off you end up screwing people unfortunately.
  5. My son and I love playing on the basketball court
  6. Oh please let this be true. Would love an Oasis or Quantum class ship to come to Galveston.
  7. July 19, 2019 on Ovation of the Seas. First Alaska cruise and first as an Emerald member.
  8. Thanks for opinion. And I just realized I totally put this question in the wrong place. Sorry
  9. Hey all. I just booked a cruise for July on Ovation of the Seas going to Alaska in 2019. Very excited. This will be my first time on a Quantum class ship. I booked a junior suite which gives me access to Coastal Kitchen at dinner I believe. Wondering how good is it? It it so good that Specialty Dining isn’t needed at all or just a little better and smaller than the main dining room? Obviously food is very subjective but just curious on people’s opinions. Thanks
  10. Anybody else wonder what Royal Caribbean must of thought of the scene where they are on a shore excursion in they were all smoking dope and getting high? Hopefully people don’t think that happens.
  11. Just watched it. It was a cute movie. Not a movie I would watch more than once. And not a movie I would say was going to make anybody think deep thoughts afterwards, but that’s ok.
  12. I feel the same way as others in Texas. I’m socially liberal. Pro-choice, pro-gun control and fiscally very conservative. Believe in small government and less oversite. I usally vote Republican because I feel that Congress and the President have more control over my right wing issues I feel than my left wing ones. But like others I couldn’t care less who someone chooses to love or spend their life with. And most Republicans I know feel the same way. Not all unfortunately. I understand how you feel about Dubai. The Middle East will just take longer to get there than other areas of the world. Some people their still have problems with women voting or working which seems crazy. I’m Jewish and have been to Israel and even there they aren’t as tolerant which is a shame because being Jewish I feel we should support them but they don’t always do the right thing either. Joe if your cruise is bad because of rude Texas people you let me know after the end of your cruise and you can hang out with me in Houston and I’ll show you personally Texas people are friendly. ?
  13. I live in Houston and I just thought I’d throw in a quick comment here. I’d have lived here since 1975 when I was 5 years old (except for 4 years of college). I have seen Houston and Texas change tremendously. Shows like “Dallas” are not refelective of how it is here. People do not walk around with Cowboy hats and boots all the time. And not everyone is in the oil or energy business. While it’s true that’s still our primary industry, we have diversified so much sense 1975. I remember in the 1980s oil business was down and the whole state went into a huge recession. Nowadays that wouldn’t happen. People are moving here like crazy the last 20 years. Actually I like too many people are here but that’s a different topic. Bottom line is that Texas is much more Diverse than people realize. We are friendly and very cosmopolitan. I would not worry at all being out of place. Book your cruise and enjoy it!
  14. My first reaction was negative as well. But the press release did say something to the effect that fares would be lower instead. Hopefully that’s turns out to be true and not just PR talk. If it ends up being true that fares will be lower, I really don’t care. If it turns out to be not true, then yes it would be very disappointing and a big negative as they are eliminating a perk to save money. i also was thinking that it’s possible travel agents would give OBC still to make people happy as a perk.
