  1. Welcome to the boards! I’m sure others will have much more detailed information on this for you, but are you planning on having My Time Dining or the early/late seating dining options?
  2. Harmony: May 10-17, 2020 Anthem: Jan. 15- 26th, 2021 (will be over my birthday, yay!)
  3. Yes, basically. I found it works exactly like land based casinos. If you are playing a table game, you don't need to visit the cashier first and can give your cash directly to the dealer to buy chips. If you are playing roulette which uses special, table specific chips, you would have to ask them to swap out your chips for the general denomination ones and then cash out at the cashier for cash again when you are done. Slots take cash just like a land casino.
  4. Unless things are done very differently down in FL, I have booked dozens of private/black car services for work in various parts of the country, and paying in full in advance for the service sounds very unusual to me. I have always had to provide a credit card and indicate if I want them to include a tip at the end of service, but if they are a reputable company they should have a clear cancellation policy and openly indicate how payment works. And an additional $1,000 charge sounds highly unusual as well. It’s not like you are booking a party bus or something that they need a deposit of some sort. IMO, unless your cruise is in 48 hours or something, I would cancel with this company and book with another company that doesn’t raise multiple red flags like this. Sorry, I don’t have any personal recommendations though.
  5. Ah yes, sorry I forgot that you are a teacher. Not quite the same as my job of developing QSRs. Well clearly we just need to clone you!
  6. That’s what tabs are for! My best cruise day dreaming and plotting time is during the work day. ?
  7. @Lovetocruise2002 yeah at this point I trust the app about as far as I can throw it. I’m sort of hoping it’s not night 1 as I’m having embarkation lunch at Chops. I fully plan on trying to compare 3 filets on board (Chops, CK, and the steak at Giovanis) but it would be lovely if I could spread some of that cow out lol Thanks for the info @WAAAYTOOO! I guess I’ll find out onboard. I plan on attempting a live blog so I will make sure to report on my findings!
  8. (emphasis mine) This might explain my confusion. Which change happened on Allure? In the app it doesn't show night 1 as being filet in CK even though I have always heard it referred to as such on here. Is it on a different night for Allure?
  9. Your excitement for this cruise is contagious and I'm so happy for you! I have seen you mention in other topic that your genie sent you PDF versions of the various menus around the ship. Is this something you are able to post here? I'm especially interested in recent Coastal Kitchen dinner menus as I'm seeing some discrepancies between the app menus and what people have mentioned here. Though I'm sure you guys will personally be taking full advantage of the included specialty dining! (as you well should!)
  10. @teddy Thanks for the information! That is the excursion I'm leaning toward for our 2020 stop in Cozumel. Do you happen to remember which beach you guys stopped at afterwards? Or what the seating/shade options were there? Thanks!
  11. Funny you should post that. Last cruise I was on, my dad decided that he wanted to make the most out of the wine he brought on so he transferred more than half the bottle to an empty water bottle from the cabin. It was all well and good when he did that with the white wine. But when he was cheered by that success and did the same with the red the next night I resolved to get him a portable wine tumbler for the next trip!
  12. One other note about the Cpap. Even if you request it, if you don’t see it in your room after a bit (we gave it until about 6 or 7) just mention it to your stateroom attendant and they will get the missing items without issue. Distilled water and extension cord was waiting in the room for us after dinner.
  13. Thank you for this information about the Secret Sands excursion @rjac! This is something I have booked for May and you just made me all the more excited about it. And I believe the beach it goes to has a couple names including Smith Bay and Lindquist Beach. I became interested in it when I saw the beach listed in the top 20 list of Best Beaches in the World by Condé Nast about a year ago.
  14. Have a blast and I look forward to following along! I will have the Key on Allure in May so I'm especially interested in how you like it on Allure and what to expect (seems certain things are a bit different ship to ship). If you could snap a picture of the Allure Key Chops menu that would be fantastic but no worries if you can't ?
  15. Genuinely curious - which of the items included in the key are items that used to be free? I’ve seen this argument often and it baffles me, but maybe I’m missing something. * Priority embarkation - those who had this still have this and they are just allowing Key people to also partake * Luggage drop off - added feature for this program (I believe, though I admit I’m newer to RCI cruising) * Internet - always been a fee * Lunch on embarkation day at Chops (or Giovanni’s/Jamie’s now) - always been a fee * Private hours on zip line/flowrider etc - from what I’ve seen, these are hours in ADDITION to the hours for the general public. It’s not like you need the Key to still use these features * Priority seating at shows - those who had this still have this. This is one I could possibly see frustration from suite/upper tier C&A members that there are now additional people eligible for this perk, but I have been reading all the reviews I can about The Key and it doesn’t seem to be a huge issue. * Special debarkation lunch - not previously offered to everyone and I believe the others who used to have it still have it * Priority debarkation/tendering - those who had it still have it, 100 additional people just have it now. I think the fact that so far they seem to be staying firm on limiting The Key to about 100 passengers per ship helps keep things from being too crowded to the point where it would impact and annoy suite/pinnacle guests.
  16. Oops! I don’t know how in the world I missed in your original post that you already got the soda package. The only change I would maybe recommend since I know the Evian is extremely expensive through the Royal Gifts thing is that Royal recently changed their policy to now allow you to carry on up to 12 bottles or cans of nonalcoholic drinks so you could bring your own 12 pack of water on if you wanted to save a little bit of money. The downside is that you would have to carry it on yourself and lug it around until rooms are open, but it would save you a decent amount.
  17. One thing to keep in mind is that if your son wants to use the freestyle machines, then you will need to get one of the drink packages (even if just the soda one) as he will need the special cup with the RFID chip in it. You can get a soda a la cart from a bar without the package but you need that cup to work the machines. Also I’m sorry that you were made to feel foolish on other forums, but we are much, MUCH nicer here and please feel free to ask as many questions as you’d like! There seems to be a lot less malicious snark here than other venues and it’s very refreshing.
  18. I seem to recall it being around $20 for 24hrs when I bought it in November. I got it on the last sea day so I could check in for flights and such.
  19. One thing to keep in mind is, generally, for the TAs who say they will pay for your gratuities, this only refers to for the first 2 people even if there’s 3+ in a room. Also, from what I understand any OBC or TA gifts tend to hit your account after the first night of the cruise so don’t be alarmed if it’s not reflected in your account the first day. Its true that by calling Royal you can avoid having to buy 2 deluxe drink packages if someone doesn’t drink, but they will pretty much always require the other adult to purchase the refreshment package instead. Because of this, IMO it’s best to call when the refreshment package is having a sale on the cruise planner. I’ve found that the alcohol package goes on sale more than the nonalcoholic one. $20 is a great sale price now for the refreshment package. Others can tell you the range for the other one, but I don’t pay it much mind since I don’t drink.
  20. @Mondas42 one of the things I discovered in my research before a Nov cruise out of Port Canaveral is that the vast majority of, if not all of, the tolls also accepted EZ Pass (and I think EPass too) if you have that. But agreed with get some sort of pass as there are a higher than average number of tolls on the way.
  21. Wait.....did they jack it up that high on non-Oasis/Quantum classes too?????? I was under the impression the other classes stayed at $20 during the price surge. $33 on Oasis and Quantum is high but not completely absurd. $33 on other classes is delusional.
  22. @CruiseLife72 Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it for your sailing.
