  1. We really loved that place! I hope they are able to re-build. Looking at the pictures of the fire, I think it is amazing that so few animals were harmed.
  2. I have a hard time with voices on the telephone and I have a really hard time understanding accents on the phone. I'm not a racist if I want to talk to a (white, black, brown) American on the phone so I might be able to understand what they're saying.
  3. Think there's any problem with bringing a YETI style drink container? I understand you can't fill it directly from the soda fountains.
  4. I looked and I couldn't find his pictures. Could you point me in the right direction? Thanks! My Cruise Planner is really pushing CocoCay but I'm not signing up for anything until I have a higher level of confidence that our ship will actually be docking there and that the facilities will be open. Otherwise, it sounds like we are giving RCL an interest free loan for their construction that will take weeks for them to refund if the new facilities are not ready by May 2019.
  5. If you ever go to Dominica, I strongly recommend going to the Papillote Tropical Gardens. It has the most amazing collection of tropical plants, flowers and fruits on beautiful grounds. We received a wonderful tour and then had lunch in an open air restaurant they have onsite. The day we were there they had flying fish on the menu that tasted very good. (and now I can say I've eaten a flying fish!) It wasn't on any ship shore excursions. I booked the reservation myself online. We took a very interesting taxi ride to get there.
  6. I looked at the video. If construction of the pier and the rest of the new facilities is only this far along, I wonder if most of this is really going to be completed by my sailing on the Symphony in May 2019?
  7. I'm sailing on the Symphony in May 2019 out of Miami. I was "wondering" about Wonderland but I also would like to know if the Hooked restaurant is included in any of the Specialty dining packages. Everyone has their preference and for me, I can't wait to try out Hooked - so I can say something corny like, I'm hooked on Hooked!
  8. First, my cruise calendar for the May 18, 2019 sailing of the Symphony, does not show anything about JR milkshakes in regard to neither the Deluxe nor the Refreshment packages. Second, as a long time customer of Johnny Rockets (on shore), I can say that they really have to improve the quality of their shipboard burgers. On shore, they typically "smash" the burgers and you get a nice hot and tasty burger. On two different RCL ships, they just took the patties and cooked and flipped and served so you ended up with a rock hard, over cooked, tasteless hockey puck. I don't care how good the milkshake is, it isn't good enough to make me want to eat one of those burgers.
  9. It wasn't the Symphony, but I just saw another RCL ship cruise is having 20% off their refreshment package. I guess it's just a matter of being patient.
  10. Maybe I should feel "guilty" for saying this but I think parents need some time off away from their kids. Every couple needs some "me" time. As a grand parent, I often tell my kids that they should go on vacation and leave their kids with us. As long as you leave your kids in capable hands while you're gone, there's nothing to feel guilty about!
  11. It may sound a little odd, but I'm looking forward to seeing the new terminal next May 2019! We're going to drive there so I hope the adjacent parking garage is completed by then too. It appears that you can't make a reservation for that parking garage. Either way, we'll be on the Symphony in 305 days!
  12. So many thoughts on this. My wife and I drink a lot of water and I find it is easier (and maybe cheaper?) to get the refreshment package. We like decent coffee, fresh orange juice in the morning and bottled water, including carbonated water. I hadn't thought about bringing my yeti water bottle and drink cup. Does RCL have any heartburn with bringing and using those?
  13. I had it in my luggage like I always did before. I had to go to the naughty room to get my suitcase.
  14. On my last RCL cruise they confiscated an extension chord I use for my CPAP machine. I've had the same chord (not a power strip) on all my previous cruises but now they're enforcing the rules more. What I found is that when I was trying to disembark at the end of the cruise, the line to pick up your confiscated items was long and moved very slowly. You could easily add 20-30 minutes to your disembark time. Just a consideration.
  15. I'm going to be on the Symphony in May 2019. They are advertising 10% off the refreshment package so I thought I would order it. I've tried three different times. I go through their whole painful process and when I hit enter, the purchase stops and it gives me some crap about my credit card (which works fine, just ask my wife). Makes me kind of wonder what's going on? I haven't called because we're still over 300 days from the cruise and I can get the package on the ship if I have to.
  16. We are going to see St Kitts for the first time during our May 2019 Symphony cruise. I saw the train ride and thought it looked pretty interesting. Has anyone else done it and did you enjoy it? It is my understanding that it can only be booked through a cruise line. Available shore excursions for St Kitts haven't been made available on Cruise Planner yet. Does anyone know if the train ride is offered on other RCL ships stopping at St. Kitts? Thanks!
  17. Yep. RCL BINGO is pretty expensive but every once in a while you get lucky. Two cruises ago, I won the "Free Cruise for Two" final bingo of the cruise. I used that (with an upgrade I paid for) to get a nice nine day cruise to the Southern Caribbean this past January. Of course, I played bingo on that cruise and didn't win a thing - not even their little pull tabs. Oh well. You win some and lose a lot more!
  18. Not wanting to sound too greedy, but can you have more than one appetizer? I love seafood and they look really good!
  19. One more question. Can you use it on the ship without VOOM?
  20. I will be going on the Symphony in May 2019 which means I will be experiencing ever increasing degrees of excitement between then and now. So, my next focus is trying to figure out what is this new app everyone is talking about? Let's get real basic. What does it do? Where do I get it? Do I really need it? I am one of those old folks who checks my cell phone (smart phone?) at least once a week to make sure it still works. I do know it's an android phone and I am fairly familiar with Amazon.com if that helps. Thanks for any help!
