Other stray thoughts -
getting a taxi from SJU to Old San Juan was a painless process. Once you are here, it really does feel like you can walk anywhere and everything is well lit. 
Most leftover hurricane damage I’ve seen was outside of Old San Juan.. everything in this area seems to be up and running  and people are very nice  
And now I’m playing a drinking game and I lost because I was writing this so for my own sake I’ll follow up in the morning

Oh man,  my goto for the first cruise drink is definitely something rummy. I'd go with either a Mai Tai, Pain Killer or a Pina Colada made with Meyers Dark rum -  yummm.  Or just all three in rapid succession at the Schooner Bar!  Ooo or a nice dark and stormy with Kraken rather than the Goslings (sacrilege, I know).  If you can't tell, Royal loses lots of money on the deluxe drink package with me :P

A glass of champagne is always a good way to start a vacation! Then switch to the patron and pineapple.. yum, that sounds good!

Went ahead and booked the August 31- September 7 , 2018 on Adventure to New England/Canada. We also have a Promenade on deck eight! Looking forward to sailing on this cruise out of Bayonne! No flying, easy drive for us!!

The thing is I enjoy the onboard experience with Royal.  Food, entertainment, activities, ship design, crew, etc.  That is why many of us are loyal.
The misleading marketing flies in the face of the onboard experience.  At least for me I stick with Royal because of the onboard experience.  It certainly isn't the website or marketing.

We were actually looking at the same cruise. My husband was leary because it isn't the Caribbean. He loves breweries, so maybe I can talk him into it!! Hopefully we'll be on the same cruise!

Yay! We will have to say hello and become cruise buddies! Looking forward to it :) I am so excited to see a little something different/ out of the ordinary for us.

Joe - As hard as it may be, take care of the things that you can control and let go of the things that you have no control over.  It sounds like you have so much on you already, don't let the "what ifs" weigh you down.  You will still have a wonderful vacation no matter what, and if you do miss a few things due to mobility, then take comfort in knowing that as long as you take care of your health now, there will be another time.  A great vacation is what you make out of the situation that you are in.  Keep us posted.  

Got to go for a back to back on the same cruise ship. Our first cruise was 7 days and we felt the same, "over way too quick". We now target the longer cruises or a B2B.

As you can see below, I've only been on two cruises, both on Freedom, so it's kinda like visiting my baby.
