  1. DH is afraid we won't get our money's worth for this reason - for me, not for himself! I definitely cannot eat like I used to - combination of age and my diabetes medication - good, because it's helped me lose a lot of weight, but I figure I will just really eat what looks good - 150 CP looks so good, I want to do it at least twice, possibly 3 times on our 7 day, and I know I won't be able to have more than 1 entree, if I even manage to have that. Hibachi one night, Chops for lunch maybe instead of dinner, Giovanni's for dinner, and possibly Izumi one night or lunch - DH not a sushi fan, but the ala carte menu has other things he will eat.
  2. just an FYI - on Anthem, there were 2 machines side by side in Sorrento's. 1 had a plain water option, 1 did not. I used to use the water option to rinse out the cup between flavors. I also think (not positive) that you can use plain cups for just ice or water at those machines, but can't swear to it
  3. When I saw the title (bacon?) I assumed it was a question to which the answer was obviously "Yes!"
  4. The menus I've seen show either ala carte items, or for a set price ($39.99 is the price I've seen) you get 1 small plate, 2 large plates, and 1 dessert
  5. There is usually wheelchair assistance at the pier (have only used it at Bayonne, so can't speak to anywhere else), but they usually only bring you onto the ship and leave you there. Depending on what time you board, your room might not even be available, so you wouldn't be able to fetch the scooter right away. Also, they won't let you keep the chair because they need it for other passengers. We used this service in March on Anthem. DH and I (I can walk, just bad knees so don't like to walk too far), got something to eat and just hung out til they announced the cabins were available. Then he went to our cabin and rode the scooter back to me. If that's not an option for your mother, I would suggest you use the company that has pier side delivery
  6. Depends on what company you use, what kind you rent, and how long you need it
  7. Is it the kind of thing that shows up in the app prior to the cruise, or will it populate after? Also, what category (Entertainment, Activities, etc)?
  8. I've had to delete & re-install the app a couple of times because of this. A nuisance
  9. The room fridge is not necessarily cold enough, although I heard that there is a temp control on the back. You can certainly request a med refrigerator, although it's more like a table top cooler, fairly small, but it would probably be big enough for several bags or bottles of milk.
  10. I'm hoping it works a little longer - I'm using it to get my izumi hibachi reservation next month...
  11. Curious - is it per person, or per stateroom (the perk)? DH & I are currently Platinum, but during the first leg of the B2B (9 days/7 days, so 16 total with DD who is only Gold still) we will turn Emerald, which doesn't really matter for the laundry discount purposes - both give you $5 off the bag - and we are mostly interested in the socks/underwear/tshirt option. If we both qualified, then we could potentially do 2 bags cruise 1, and 2 bags cruise 2 - is that correct?
  12. TBH, if my DH didn't want to unpack & leave his stuff in the suitcase, I'd be thrilled - more room for me!!!
  13. 10 years ago on Explorer, early was 6pm, which was good (family cruise, age range from 14yo - > 80). Last few we took, early was 530, which was good for DD (adult, but disabled, and went to bed early). Last cruise DH & I took, we tried MTD, but not really a fan, and don't want to do it when we cruise with our other daughter, because of food allergies. The one we are on next month, we went with late, even though 8pm is late for me, but I was happy to see the change to 730pm.
  14. You should be able to book them in connecting rooms (assuming each room holds at least 3), since they allow under 21's to be in a room with an adult, or in a connecting room, next door (not connected) or across the hall from the over 21. Since the bf is, I assume, the other 18 yo, you won't need to worry about parental permission or anything like that, but you can certainly book him in a connecting room, etc with you as the "adult" on the reservation I agree that you will probably have to call Royal or use a TA to do this for you, not do it yourself online, since they may flag all under 21 in a separate room
  15. I tried to load it on my tablet (lenovo) & DD's tablet (adult, but did not have a phone - various reasons), and neither worked. We actually never got to sail with her, so didn't have the issue of trying to do the day before health questionnaire, etc, but I definitely had trouble with at least 2 different tablets
  16. We have late dining for our B2B in August. Plan on MDR or Coastal kitchen (jr suite, so fingers crossed) for dinner the first one (9 night, and 1 of our party has celiac, so feel more comfortable in the MDR). The 2nd week, we have UDP, so plan on telling them we probably won't be there that week, but will wait to do that AFTER we have our specialty reservations. But, if you like the 530 time (which may end up being 5pm, I've heard they are changing early dining) just tell them what nights you won't be there as a courtesy
  17. DH & I were both on the app @ midnight - I took a few minutes longer because I was on the wrong cruise at first (), but went straight to my name & checked in for 1030am - I didn't have my passport handy, so used something else to fill in ID portion, then CC & emergency contact. Then I checked DH, and his said 11am. He put in for DD, and again, 11am. However, since I got 1030, I assume all of us can do it, plus we're in a Jr Suite, so hoping the get in 1 hr ahead applies as well.
  18. Just add the 1st child, assuming that the younger one is the issue. When you hear from your concierge /genie, explain the situation and see if they can clear it up or go to Izumi once you are onboard and explain the situation.
  19. Ours sends us the TA version, which has the itinerary but not the times.
  20. Unfortunately, it's not available that way if you use a TA, since you pay through them.
  21. No, for some reason that is not an option. It should be on your original cruise reservation info, but I never have access to that. The app won't show it either, at least not ahead of time. Doesn't even show the date in the app daily calendar, which annoys me to no end. My usual fix is to immediately add it to my personal google calendar, where I also add every excursion and on board activity that anyone in my traveling party books (since my calendar in the app or on the website only shows what they're signed up for if I'm doing it also) as well as things that won't show (such as spa services, for some weird reason, or private events like a pub crawl)
  22. I would have suggested an email to the special needs dept -- [email protected] --this is what we used (before using a TA) to inform them about my daughter's celiac disease & gluten free needs, but I see you are leaving in a few days, so you probably won't get an answer soon enough. You could speak with the maitre d in the main dining room & see if that person could help or direct you to someone who could. Failing that, she may have to use her experience or some sort of reference guide to estimate her carb count.
  23. The only "non menu": item was a grilled chicken breast, which is now apparently available instead of whichever other chicken item is on the menu that night. Otherwise "requests for items not on the menu can only be made for allergies or dietary restrictions" - or something like that
  24. I have mobility issues, and it would leave DH with all the bags - if we were going to consider that, I'd Uber straight back to the hotel & we could leave from there. Might keep that idea in my back pocket, though
  25. I'll try to do that - I'm hoping it works out well. Like I said, it's only worth it because it's a B2B - and they offer good timing options. DH and I did a March cruise from Bayonne, & DD drove us & picked us up (cheapest of all ), and we're doing another next March but out of Baltimore, so will drive down the day before and stay over. Looked to do the park & stay there too, and it would be cheaper than parking at the port, but the one I was looking at only offered 1 drop off & pick up time - I think they do a single run. The hotel pick up & drop at the port was ok - 10 am pick up, but then the pick up at the port for the return trip to the hotel was about 1045 - meaning at least 2 hours at the port after disembarkation, and the price savings does not justify it, especially since I don't know anything about the port of Baltimore, and could potentially be outside in the cold or rain (or snow - not impossible in March) waiting.
