Well that's too bad. I was really looking forward to this place being my goto. I'll still try it once though
.
I much preferred Playmakers, Barnacle and Barrel (fun trivia and karaoke) and Schooner Bar (LOVE the decor there)
Just my 2 cents worth

Yeah..I was pretty excited for it too..must have just been the cruise I was on....but yes, defn a bust. Empty and dead and terrible drinks....no one wanted to go or stay there...its too bad.
Playmakers was a hit.....although it may have been more about the World Series being on there than anything else...but the drinks and food were both good there and a cool place to hang out for sure.
I agree. Playmakers was fun

I had drinks 3 times in Bamboo room. All were the "included in the package" ones. Mainly because the more expensive ones didn't look appealing.
But I agree, that I didnt finish any of them because they were "ok" at best.
I never saw more than 4 or 5 people in there at any time and mostly were people at bar waiting for drinks to take elsewhere, like me.
But, this was my first RC and didnt know what to expect in Bamboo room.
I just preferred my Petron Margaritas I drank most of the trip..

By the way.... Mariner of the Seas gets to dock in the new Terminal A tomorrow in Miami.
We will be the FIRST ship to ever dock there. Kinda cool...

We are in the same situation..just so everyone knows....FLL will store your luggage for $8/piece......much easier than dragging it around or trying to pick an excursions what works with your luggage etc...
This is what we are doing and then heading out for the day as our flight isn't til 5pm on United....
With 4 of us in the group and prob 5-6 pieces of luggage (plus any carry-ons) we decided to rent a car at the port (Avis) for less than $100 (SUV for the luggage). that way we can get up early and cruise around FT Lauderdale before our 4:30 SW flight. Extra beach day! being I used to live there, I know my way around fairly well..
4 days and counting!!!!!

It's nice not having to bring dress up clothes, trying to get rid of wrinkles, changing in and then out of them after dinner. Cuba was hot in July.
I'm all for "Wear Your Best". It worked quite well on Mariner. Some people went all out, some didn't.
Happy about this. Didn't want to pack a sport coat. Plus traveling we with kids this time and they dress more casual. Makes it easier. Khakis and polos it is...

I have booked the Classic Soda package because I really dont plan on drinking 5-7 drinks a day, every day, especially with off ship activities planned.
BUT, can the Deluxe Beverage package be added for just ONE day? I was thinking the day at sea as a great day to enjoy it.
Thanks for your insite. This blog is AWESOME to get questions answered.

11pm - 80's party in the Promenade
I'll refrain from adding a couple of photos from Playmakers that I can't recall taking or explain how I got them on my phone after this. At some point after midnight I decided I needed to start packing. These short cruises suck. Packing under the influence sucks worse.
Is the 80's theme night a regular thing?? If so, might just have to pack for that...

Hold up . . .
So if I get a drink package, and I don't use my cup, it never activates? What happens if I bring that cup on a future trip? Will it activate then and work for the whole cruise sans-package? (not that it matters, I'm pretty much always going to get the drink package, so I guess we'll just amass an ever increasing number of RC soda tumblers.)
thats what we have done with Disney Cups. Every time we go we get new ones... have a few sets now...lol

Shout out to the Poweraid options for helping me recover from the effects of the drink package!
Also a big fan of the sparkling water varieties - I drink La Croix like crazy at home so it's fun having that option on the ship.
Fun observation - the number of people I saw on my last cruise on Adventure trying to use paper or coffee cups at the freestyle machines and either getting confused/angry when they didn't work was almost comical.
same thing happens at Disney.. lol
