We got an amazing surprise call from our TA when we cruised on Quantum in 2015.  The actual upgrade fairy paid a visit!  RCCL called the TA to offer us an extra balcony room at no charge.  We had four of us in one balcony room, so they offered us two connecting balconies that held two each at no additional cost.  So the kids had one room and we had the other, we opened the balcony divider and it was AMAZING.  Swore we'd never sail with the four of us in one cabin again.  So what have we done?  We have four of us in a junior suite on our next cruise, then we're doing for in a balcony next year for the Anthem group cruise.  We're soooo not going to like it!  LOL 

Still haven't heard anything....we are 21 days from our cruise.

im on the boat at the moment and the speed it came in was way too fast.just before the crash a guy came over the tannoy screaming something over and over.were stayimg in room 9003 which is just below bridge so we had a front row seat.im reluctant to carey on as last night was a terrible rougb ride and now this basic area give s me no confidence.

You can see the ship dragging the anchor....obviously a mechanical failure.  I am surprised you don't hear a collision alarm.  Could of been worse.

if I had to choose it would be Otto Bang capt of the Liberty he was so kind taking my wheelchair bound daughter for a personal tour of the ship 

I don't have a favorite, it's never occurred to me to rank Captains. 
Much like CD's I may dislike 1 or 2 but I don't book a cruise or avoid booking a cruise because of any personnel on-board.

As much of a downer as this cancellation would be, the compo is essentially a free cruise. I'd actually be very very happy about that.

We lucked out and got a somewhat direct flight to Sidney. We left Houston, did a quick stop in Brisbane to refuel, then on to Sidney.
Our trip was right after the big Quantas strike was settled so they were bending over backward to make sure we were happy.
We went directly to the ship but ended up staying an extra day after to visit with a friend there. Sorry, can't remember the name of the hotel but it was lovely. It was right by the Harbor. We walked all over...it was beautiful. All in all....it was by far my favorite cruise to date.

Yesterday we got an email from RCCL saying we could be eligible for an upgrade to a balcony cabin on our May 5th Adventure of the Seas sailing .
The cost was $100.... My question being, has anyone else ever gotten this? Did they actually get the upgrade? We have cruised 7 times with RCCL and this is the first time we've gotten this.  Just curious, I'd be happy with either cabin.

We ate entirely in the MDR on our AD cruise in February, and we were quite happy with it! Food was always hot and I don't think anyone at our table had a complaint about their meal. Keep an eye out for the Grand Marnier souffle - almost everyone's favorite dessert!

Yep, heard of this! $100 for a balcony is a good "upgrade"! 

The sales are really for new cruisers who don't know any better.  The marketing campaigns are aimed to draw attention and they do.  I see newbies on other forums claiming how they just got a cruise on sale.  It's very competitive and Royal is just keeping up with the competition who does the same thing.  I had to unsubscribe from NCL for this reason - spam emails basically. 
If you are lonely and desire for your phone to ring, sign into NCL Latitudes, browse some cruises then don't book.  Within 24 hours a cruise specialist will be calling to assist you - guaranteed.    At one point I changed my number in my profile to a bogus number.  Apologies to who ever has 867-5309.

I can see both sides of this.....I love Labadee because it's peaceful.....
It looks as though they are turning Coco Cay into an amusement park . The one cruise we took that was supposed to stop there was bypassed due to rough seas...so I have nothing to compare. My husband's first comment when I told him about this was ...." Well the cost of the 4 and 5 day cruises are going to go way up now."

Exercise increased caution due to crime.
According to Government of Mexico statistics, the state experienced an increase in homicide rates compared to the same period in 2016. While most of these homicides appeared to be targeted, criminal organization assassinations, turf battles between criminal groups have resulted in violent crime in areas frequented by U.S. citizens. Shooting incidents injuring or killing bystanders have occurred.
U.S. government personnel are prohibited from travel to Centro, Calica, Gonzalo Guerrero, Quintas del Carmen, and Villas del Carmen neighborhoods of Playa del Carmen.  These neighborhoods are bordered by Avenida Benito Juarez, 50 Avenida Sur (Highway 307), and Calle 34 Norte.  U.S. citizens should avoid those neighborhoods until further notice.  U.S. government personnel are authorized to travel to resort areas in Riviera Maya including those near Playa del Carmen that are outside the restricted neighborhoods of this alert.
U.S. government personnel are still prohibited from using ferry services between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel until further notice.  U.S. citizens should not use ferry services operating between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel.
There are no restrictions on U.S. government employees for travel to other parts of Quintana Roo state, including tourist areas such as: Cancun, Cozumel, Tulum, and the Riviera Maya

I finally figured out what is going on its not really about IT issues but more of a marketing  trick .
Here is what I think might happened  :
 
The CEO got some survey about  how people do not like the RC website and keep complaining about it over the social  media (mainly in some message boards)  
He ask the CIO what can be done to improve it , which he replays (very enthusiastic) that they create a new project with new site and  a new DB throwing  in the air  buzzwords like "Digital, Micro services, DeBOPS , clouds, big data etc ...".
The only thing, this project will cost more than 700 M $ (which we all know will be at least twice) and I will need 500% increase in the IT team + some new executives IT manager to run the project 
  The CFO that heard the required budget automatically refused and remind the CEO about the stakeholders + the board that will not like it , not to forget the  yearly E level  bonuses which will be under risk as they are tied to the EBIT. 
The CEO, who remembered suddenly  the new cars he promised to buy to his kids (I wanted to say the new boat he wanted to buy for himself but , well not sure how much a cruise line  CEO wants to have a boat as his hobby) understand that a new project is not an option and ask what else can be done.
Then the marketing come with a wonderful idea  , create a mock up site that will imitate a new site , this site will stay for two three weeks.
The site will be so terrible that RC customers will beg them to bring back the old site and no one will dare  complain anymore about the current site.
And all of that without spending too much money , I think its genius
