I am a very picky Guinness drinker as well.  I think I would have had a word with them when it was less crowded.  I don't mind waiting for it to be done right.  I do get they are busy people and trying to get everyone's orders though.

@Wilmsta - I am holding you accountable for this.
All this talk of Guinness made me thirsty so I ran out to the store.
New can I've never seen before.

A widget Guinness isn’t too bad - I’ve actually got the Guinness Surger unit at home which replicates the ‘surge’ when combined with the specific Guinness Surger cans - still no replacement for a well poured pint tho!

They had Guinness on tap in the pub on Indy last summer.
However it wasn't poured correctly for either of the 2 pints I tried. Maybe I should of had a word with the barman and advised him how it's meant to be poured (rather than just straight up) but the bar was far too busy.

If you can’t manage to get on the RC excursion in Fort Lauderdale then I would just haul your luggage to the beach (intersection of A1A and Las Olas) and enjoy yourself. I see cruisers on the weekends carting luggage at the beach every weekend. There’s options North and South of Las Olas to grab a bite to eat and when your ready to get to the airport just call an Uber. Enjoy

No, you’re not missing anything. You have it right.  The UDP gives you all dinners and lunches on sea days and the 5 day is just 5 random dinners only.  The value of CK is a bit more esoteric. Some rave about the food at CK.  I think it’s just “ok”.  The big draw, for me, of CK, is it’s quiet and dignified tempo and the incredible views.  I don’t find the food to be that extraordinary with possible exception of the filet, which is only offered 1 night.  We have found the dining pkgs to be a better deal for us as we like the ability to choose different options.  People who love the CK will say that “free” trumps variety so you will have to do it once yourself and see which is the best option.

Yep - I was enjoying a Lava flow cocktail by 11.15 , that's the proper way to start your cruise!

    Hi
Ignore the boarding time and just go to the port whenever it suits. We left from Southampton in the summer, our boarding time was 12.30 (if i remember correctly, possibly later), but following advice from this forum we arrived at about 10.30 and was on board shortly after 11 ?
And yes your C&A membership will also get you priority boarding as well - according to the list of benefits

Wilmsta got a reaction from Marmaduke in overcrowding on Indy?
We took our first ever cruise on Indy this summer. All 11 of us had a blast and our ages ranged from 6 to 70+. The ship was full and yes it was busy at times, but did i consider it overcrowded, no not at all. I found the main 'busy' times were around breakfast and lunch around the Windjammer, especially the later you left it for at each sitting, however a quick wander around and a 'hover' whilst a table was being cleared and you was good to go.
We enjoyed it so much we've another two booked up already!
And..this forum is amazingly helpful and friendly so any questions you have just ask away!

Wilmsta got a reaction from Baked Alaska in European football/soccer with cruise?
Off the top off my head (and only places I've actually visited) both Southampton (Premier League) and Barcelona (La Liga and Champions League) are do-able.  Both are departing cruise ports and the stadiums are not too far away from the city centers.
For Barcelona you can book tickets in advance directly on the club's website as this is exactly what we did this time last year (for a Champions League game in December) and Barcelona is also a wonderful city to visit.
Southampton would be a little trickier in terms of timings (football is played outside of the summer months whereas majority of cruises from Southampton are indeed in the summer months - but the shoulder seasons would make it be possible.
Out of the two tho - it would be a no brainer for me,  Barcelona has so much more to offer.

I looked the term up on Wikipedia the other day, says "Council Housed and Violent" is a backronym created to fit the original word. Word's been in use for a really long time. From the article (emphasis added):

Mainly US but there is one European socket by the dressing table.
No - our assigned time was 2pm but we were at the terminal at 10:55 and were straight on.

I think you've chosen a great ship for your first cruise. Have fun!
